I would think the Miami game would be better to "rest up" instead of the Giants, as I would think the Giants would put up a much better fight, wouldn't they?

So I guess now the question is, how big a fight will the Giants put up to try to play spoiler? I mean, they do have a much better record, but OTOH, they got their seed all locked up in the playoffs so they won't get/lose anything in their last game.

I was suprised that they didnt pack it in after being behind against that Bills team today. I expect they will give an effort within reason- I meen a healthy squad heading into the playoffs is way more important to them ( I think ) than playing spoiler to us.

I think the Giants (as pros) will play all out. Even so i do not see them beating the Pats Of all the teams the pats have played this season they are among the better ones and have a shot.

My prediction? Pats 30 Giants 24

Brady scores 3 TD passes , that would give him 50 for the season I think?

They are just a great football team.

    Good for you.

This is a real good game! I don't remember Eli playing this well in a long time (but don't watch all his games). No stake in either team, but I'm glad they continue to play starters.
  • Eli is having one of his best games ever. Might be his defining moment. Even if the Giants lose, the Giants will be in the Patriots heads should they meet in the Super Bowl.

Well perkdog, at this point the Pats are down five points with 12 minutes to go; can they pull it out? Or will they have to settle for a tie with the 1985 Bears and 1998 Broncos?

1998 Broncos were 14-2, not 15-1. There were a couple other 15-1 teams, 49ers, Steelers, Vikings, but only the 49ers won the Super Bowl (along with the Bears, of course).

Looks like it may be a moot point, though.

At least the Giants will cover, though!

It would sure be nice for the referee to know what the **** is going on!

He just announced a 15 yard penalty against "the kicking team" (Patriots), and then they mark off the yards against the Giants!image

    Steve
  • Penalty was 81 on the giants, 81 on the Pats is Moss

Giants played a whale of a game that didn't mean anything at all to them.

Congrats Pats...let's see if they can make it through the playoffs now...a new season in its own right.

  • Congrats Patriot fans on your perfect season image.

  • <<Even if the Giants lose, the Giants will be in the Patriots heads should they meet in the Super Bowl>>

You gotta give the Giants credit. They EASILY beat the spread and nobody predicted the game to be this close. 12 points was the biggest lead that any team had against the Pats all year. Very poor clock management by Eli and the Giants at the end of the game.

  • And by the way congrats Pats and the fans! Now the pressure is really on. You don't want to end up like the Seattle Marinateds where a New York team stomps on your record breaking season in the Post-Season. image I remember how much pressure was on the 1998 Yankees but they finished 125-50 (including the Post-Season). Along the way they almost blew it in the playoffs against the Cleveland Indians.

Pats are a great team I'll give you that but they got caught cheating so I could care less about the record, funny how its not mentioned.........
  • EstilEstil Posts: 7,058 ✭✭✭✭
Well, the Patriots already pwned both their probable AFC Championship Game opponents (Colts) and probable Super Bowl opponents (Cowboys) in the regular season (in both cases on the road) so that should be a good sign, no?

Please! It was a huge topic the first part of the season, HUGE penalties were given out and the Patriots moved on- to the tune of going UNDEFEATED for the regular season. The only thing funny is people still bringing it up...

As confident as I am with the Pats, I dont want to make any bold predictions and jinx them! Every game from here on out is the Super Bowl, and I believe the pressure is on us HUGE! To go 16-0 in the regular season has to carry some sort of weight on your shoulders to win it all I would think. I think it will be a tough game, Jax brings a scrappy type of play and I expect a very physical game.

    Bottom line: Pats 27-17
  • I think it will be 24-21 pats untill mid 4th quarter. Then the Jags D wears down, and the Pats score 2 quick TD's.

    38-28
