Idferg - the '77 Foreman was the one card I got that I needed. Looks like an 8 or a 9. There was an auction for a Foreman psa9 last week on e-bay and it went for something like 75 bucks...crazy!
Need 51 more cards to complete the 77 FB set.

  • That PSA special is making this rip look even better, bad part it it may take 6 months to get the grades on this special.

  • Hey Chris, A big thanks to you and Steve for putting this together!!image
  • Nothing too great, got a nice M. Allen RC and a real nice Jaworski RC

The 76's were VERY nice. Corners were razor sharp. Player selection was not lucky

The 77's had great corners but the centering was terrible.

In the 86 pack I got a real nice K. Mack RC (one of my favorite guys) but it
    was slightly o/c

In the 85 pack I got a very nice Singletary that could be 9 quality
(looking at my pack, where do the 10's come from in this set???) Impossible!!

I had a blast with this rip.

My sister has my other lot (I have to wait for Christmas for that one... brutal !!!)

<< <i>Not much here, all commons until the 1985 where I hit a Marino and Dent and then Bruce Smith in the 1986. Will send those 3 off to PSA and wait 2 months fro the results! >>

Me too, mostly commons and nothing over a $10 card. But I haven't opened packs before and the rush was worth the $140 or whatever. I don't think I got any rookies or any of the cards listed on the teaser, but I would do it again image

  • Here are some of the highlights of my rip. Fun to get the Dorsett RC even though OC. The 76's were centered well with decent corners. The Tarkenton RB is pretty nice with a rough cut. The 77's weren't as good that way. The 79 Payton is nice except for the print smear on the team emblem. Had a nice 85 Montana on the end with gum stuck and bled through.

Thanks again Chris for putting this together and to Steve of course for handling the logistics so well.

  • More from my rip.

The Alan Page is VERY nice.

I love the picture on the 81 Page, he looks like the old grizzled veteran.
He was in the league for 15 years when this picture was taken.
This was Page's last Topps card.

The Randy White has a good shot at 9.

  • Chris - I would really like to thank you for all of the effort that you put into getting this rip started and keeping the whole process in order for us.image

Gabbs - That looks like a really nice Jaws RC. If you send it in, let us know what kind of grade it gets.

Keep the scans coming I love it!! I will get mine up as soon as my package comes in. Again, Thanks to Chris and Steve for making this possible.
  • Hoping mine gets here today. Odds are actually increasing for my chances to pull a Payton RC and if the 76s are as sharp as they seem to be that might be a hell of a hit.

More scans!!! Love the look of 79 and 82 Topp FB!!

  • << <i>Hoping mine gets here today. Odds are actually increasing for my chances to pull a Payton RC and if the 76s are as sharp as they seem to be that might be a hell of a hit. >>

The odds are getting better on the Payton , Elway and Marino's RC's, Would be nice. Hopefully SAhouldbeen will get all of the remaining OC cards.image
  • No Montana, Sims or LT yet either. Campbell is missing as well.
  • Whats the next rip gonna be?

The 86 Marino and Reed are beauties. The Dorsett and Pearson are going to PSA as well. I am gonna go through the commons and see if there are more for the most part the cards were in great shape. Lost a couple to gum sticking to them though.

I got mine the other day, and had a nice little rip party last night. I must have jinxed myself with all of the smack talk earlier in the thread, as I didn't pulll any big RC's either.

I did get a few 2nd year star cards in nice shape. As a matter of fact, most of the cards were in great shape. I was plesantly surprised at the quality, and the centering was dead on ... except for maybe a few 78's, 85's and 86's.

I got some nice minty upgrades for my 70's and 80's raw sets, and would definately do it all over again. You gotta love those couple moments of suspense, when you're flipping through a freshly opened pack, you notice the great centering ... and start thinking to yourself ... "come on Payton, come on Payton!"

I even got an extra added bonus ... of my neighbors kid (who I'm not very fond of) sticking a piece of 30 year old gum in her mouth, and then spitting it back out. I've told the little brat over and over again to not take snacks unless she asks first. Hopefully, that'll teach her.

I hope everyone had fun with the rip, and thanks to Chris and Steve for taking care of it all. Nicely done!

    Mike

  • Afterrnoon,
Justed Ripped my lot, an absolute disappointment, No Hofer's, No RC's, a couple of second year stuff most with dings. All commons, the 70's stuff was mostly OC or Diamond.
    Better luck next time.

Got the cards today, no rookies, a handful of HOFers, though probably not worth grading, about 10 redskins/steelers for the PC. Only card listed in the SMR..Payton/van Eeghen 78 Topps Rushing leader 70/30 both ways. Will scan a few later.
Looking to have some custom cuts or plain custom cards built? PM me.

Here are scans of the redskins, steelers of any signifance and the rest of players that were decent...

Question about the Webster....is it even worth submitting for PC purposes with the big yellow print spot on the left border?
Also, the Craig has dog ears on both corners...show I trim them off or submit as is?

    Check them out for yourselves.

When is the next on and what is it?
  • Here is my 1979 rip. Some nice cards again. I think I am going to submit that Tony Dorsett and maybe one or two more.

  • Well I had a blast with the rip, brought back a lot of old memories. Not too much of value, best probably a Mike Webster Rookie a little oc but might get an 8. My 76 pack the cards were in awesome shape, most gradeable, the bummer was my 85 pack was warped and it had 2 hall of famers in it, doh. Overall had a good time, looking forward to the next rip.

  • Thinking of submitting my best 10 cards under this months special just for fun. Not used to modern subs might be rough though, haha.

I think I'm going to send 12 (3 Hofers, 9 commons) in and looking to trade the remaining cards for a nice Bradshaw or a couple steeler hofers. My lot still has a number of hofers (81 Page, 82 Largent, 83 Montana record breaker, 82 Haynes, 82 Winslow IA, 85 Marino, 85 Lott, 86 Stallworth). Let me know if you interested.

A big thanks to Chris for setting this up, thanks man.

Out here in Seattle and just got my cards. Put one lot away for display and immediately ripped the other. Went backwards from 1986. Packs were in good shape and cards were in good shape. Pulled a beautiful Marino rookie as the only big highlight. Pretty pedestrian for the rest. But hey, I could be waisting my money on lotto tickets and pull tabs and having nothing to show for it.

The only pack that seemed unusual was the 76 pack. It was almost unsealed and kind of loose. Is there only 10 cards in a 76 pack? Because that's all I got.

Anyway, what a blast and thanks so much to Chris for putting this together and Steve for assembling and mailing.

  • Nice Marino card mcolney1. I would definately submit that puppy.
