  • Hi Everyone. My first post here but I was enticed to sign up after viewing this thread. I'm a HUGE Reds fan and have recently gone in a new direction with card collecting. I got back into cards a few years ago but was drawn into the modern cards with the game used, auto's, etc. Recently, I've had to reflect on how much I enjoy the hobby but I wasn't really getting the satisfaction I desired from the modern day stuff. With that being said, I've totally turned my focus to PSA Graded Vintage of the Reds(60's and 70's), also Barry Larkin and Eric Davis. I've acquired a few cards in the last week or so and I look to build upon that collection as time goes on! Tomorrow, I will try to get some scans up in this thread to show you some of my FIRST vintage pick-ups. I'm excited about the journey! Love this thread, keep it up guys and look forward to interacting with all of you down the line! GO REDS!

    Andrew,

Welcome to the boards. I too, am working on a vintage Reds PSA collection. The forum here has a ton of knowledge and a bunch of good guys. Hopefully we can help each other out.

  • I love looking at all of the great cards and memorabilia in this thread. There are some awesome collections highlighted here.

I wanted to mention to Reds collectors that probably the best show around for vintage Reds cards and memorabilia is Thanksgiving weekend at Moeller High School in Cincinnati. I have set up as a dealer at this show for around 15 years and if you want to track down some great Reds collectibles, this is the place. My inventory is about 98% vintage Reds items, so this is my favorite show of the year. Hope to see some of you guys there!

Tony Perez and Gaylord Perry are signing at the show (for pretty reasonable prices). More info about the show is at cincycardshows.com.

Fun mail day today with these adds to the Perez collection

These are from the Cincinnati Reds Alert publication. Several Reds and stars of the day had full page illustrated features over the years. These are the two Perez versions done

    imageimage

Here is a team issued sheet from annual GE day at the stadium autographed by Perez and Oester

    image

Lastly, the fun one for me is the MLB Photostamp variation. (I believe this is considered the 1970 issue

    image

This is what more widely distributed version looks like from 1969

    image

Lastly just from fun a few other Reds players in the lot I received

Here are a few recent additions. The Bench was an upgrade from a PSA 8. The Barry Larkin is from his rookie year and probably his toughest rookie card to find in nice shape.

I bought this 1987 Kahn's uncut sheet about 15 years ago and have never seen another since.
The sheet includes two complete sets with two Barry Larkin rookies.
