Is the glass UV coated? That's one of my biggest concerns about displaying my collection: items fading due to exposure to light.

    << <i>

<< <i>Jasoneggert, that's what I'm looking to do. Two black curio cabinets. Nice!!!! Where'd you get those? >>

I bought the first one at a local furniture store, cost about $600, I then did a search online and found one for like $400. I can't remember where online I got it, but do remember they took FOREVER to get it to me. I think like 7 weeks.

If you do a search for Pulaski 20819 you can find them online, prices are all over the map.

I highly recommend these cases. The door slides to either direction and there are lights at the top, and they lock.

I do not know if it is coated or not. I put my cases in part of my office that does not get any direct sunlight.

BigDaddyBowman, that is an impressive football card collection to say the least. I really like how you have it displayed too. What years to you collect? It looks like from the 30's up to 1969.

thank you....I appreciate the kind words. I avidly collect pre-1955...but also go after key 1956-1959 players. When I first got into vintage back in the late 80's/early 90's I was collecting HOF rookies, so I have a bunch of the 60's and 70's players...but to be honest...any thing after the early 60's really does not interest me much any more. Every once in a while, if I see a bargain, I will pick up a 60's card. I really love the bowman years 48-55..that is my collecting passion.

Just knocked off my last 30 key card set for the year - 1963 Topps (Pictures added below). I will be taking a break until Christmas. Here is where I stand now:

    1956 - 11/30
    1957 - 1/30
    1958 - 14/30
    1959 - 30/30
    1960 - 3/30 - Purchased a Killebrew PSA 6.
    1961 - 30/30
    1962 - 20/30- Added Banks PSA 6, Nellie Fox PSA 6 & Duke Snider PSA 6.
    1963 - 30/30 -
    1964 - 30/30
    1965 - 7/30
    1966 - 30/30 -
    1967 - 29/30 - Just Need Seaver
    1968-1980 - 30/30
    1981 - 28/30 - Still need Niekro and Stargell
    1982 - 29/30 - Only need Yaz.

Very nice 1963's, but no Pete Rose? I know he isnt a hall of famer (not sure if your criteria is strictly hall of famers or not), but he sure is a "key" card in the 1963 set.
  • TJMACTJMAC Posts: 864 ✭✭
Nam your right about Rose and Stargell too being key cards. I will eventually get them, but cannot justify forking over around $400.00 for a PSA 5 Rose at this time. I hate the look of the card, so I justified it in my own mind that I would remove him from my list for now. Besides, my case presents better without having the 4 picture rookie cards on it. It is a cop out I know, but part of the fun is making our own rules. It is too bad that the 1964 Topps is not his true rookie because it is visually a superior card.

Unfortunately not...now that would be a killer item. The Baugh is autographed..I also have a replica leather helmet autographed by him too. Those and the Staubach/Aikman helmet are my favorite autographed pieces. Also a Tittle jersey...a favorite too. The mini-helmets I have are Unitas, Bradshaw, Namath, Bednarik/Pihos, Butkus, Staubach, Aikman, Lilly, Pearson, Dorsett, White, Too tall, Newhouse and a bunch of 8x10's like otto Graham, Lavelli, groza, lambert Dudley and others. I may be selling some of these on the bay soon, to get more dough for cardboard.

Thanks man - only have a few games. GT5, the new Motorstorm, Saints Row 2, Grid, and MLB (The Show) - I use it more for the BluRay player but I've slowly been getting back into gaming again.
  • Here are a few pics from my basketball room. All of the jerseys are game used. The second jersey is a Mike Lewis ABA All Star jersey. The Joe Fulks display was the actual piece that was displayed in the Hall of Fame. They sold off some when they remodeled.

Nice stuff. I could never display (or have in my house for that matter) someones sweaty laundry, my wife is a germ-phobe and it's kinda creepy seeing some dudes' ballers on a mannequin.
  • Zep,

How do you like the new Motorstorm game ? I picked up MGS4 ( Metal Gear Solid ) a little while back, great game if you like those type of games.

    ptper,

Really awesome pieces you have there. I just think you need to call the people from HGTV to come in and give that room a makeover

daddy, Nice collection! I saw a couple of guitar necks sticking out of the bottom of one of your pics. Are those a couple of vintage Stratocasters?
  • daddymcdaddymc Posts: 3,080 ✭✭✭
    Thanks for the compliment.

LOL, The guitars themselves are not real, rather they are for Rock Band on the PS3 and modeled after vintage Stratocasters. The game did inspire my son to purchase a real acoustic guitar last month though, and we are probably going to start lessons for him. So a real one is a possibility in the future.

I got the base from a sports memorabilia store in Baltimore. It was unsigned at the time. Ripken came to my wife's work one day as a speaker and my wife got him to sign it. I'm kicking myself for not getting him to put the date of the game and the score on the base. I think the date was 9/30. The game ended in a 1-1 tie after 15 innings.

    Jim
  • Orioles - I was at that game, here are the commemorative/ game tix I still have kicking around. I'm pretty sure it was a makeup game cancelled by the 9-11 attacks. The weather was absolutely horrendous, and the game went so long we nearly missed our flight home (had to leave a little early). That base brings back some memories for me - thanks for sharing...image
