These are my favorite threads. Also, I just learned how to display pictures. My photography skills are still a work in progress.

I will post some of my 70's and 80's stuff now that I have the hang of it.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

My brother is into collecting, but other than him there are not many people around. So, it feels good to share it with others. Also, my wife is great about giving me the entire finished basement to display my stuff. I also have a pretty nice collection of sports figurines that I will post later.
I am having a little fun taking pictures and posting them. Also, photobucket is a great place to store the images of the stuff you got.

keeping my ears open for oddball cards of Rose from the 60's and 70's.
Unfortunately, I am not that talented. Those are the Pennzoni cases that are decent for displaying. They are not top of the line, but they do the job. The key is putting a couple of screws or hooks behind them to make them move up a little bit. This keeps the cards against the wood. You can't tell the screws are back there since they don't stick out too far.
The book case was built into the wall by a family friend. I also have a 75 gallon fish tank on the other side of the room built into the wall. I will post a picture of that too.
rlankhaar, I will do my best to get a picture of the room. There is still some bare walls, so I am going to order a few more display cases. I have a hard time spending on supplies when there are so many cards I want.
I don't know if I'll ever be that organized!
But, it would be nice.
I assume those are Roop binders? The sets are neatly stacked and look fantastic!
I'll start on mine on Tuesday!

i always thought the cards would get bent from them being upright, but i obviously don't know much about anything...

RIP GURU
And since Julien brought it up. I too am curious how you managed to get the larger sets to stack so nicely without the pages bending.
I've had that problem with some of my binders so I'm just curious.
Either way the pictures are something to aspire to organization-wise. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to share your treasures!
Over the last 9 months or so I have stopped buying new stuff for my collection (gasp) and focused on organizing / displaying what I already have. In the process I have also been thinning out items I don't really care about, so I can use the space I have more effectively without having to cram everthing in. It has been a daunting project, but should be well worth it when complete - I have been inspired by many of the collections I've seen on these boards.
Currently I am busy bagging and boarding my magazines, then I need to finish sorting out my card albums and PSA slabs. I have also been looking at display cases for miniatures and will most likely get some once I have a little more money. I also need to update my have/want lists and my insurance info. Hopefully when it is all done I can get some nice pictures and post them here, so I can dazzle a few people too.
TJMAC - I have purchased 6 of those Light Impression binders with slipcovers; Roops kept saying they were out of stock, and then they closed shop

The Roop binders for me, were the best way to go, but they got expensive. I bought a few of them when they were discounted.
Jared, my understanding is the light impression binders were the same. It is even the same picture on the Roop site. They are bigger than my regular binders, but are VERY sturdy.
I like collecting the different decades and representing them in my displays. I have more valuable cards than my 1984 Topps, but I don't display everything based on value. I am a collector first and a huge fan of the history of the game. Cards of George Brett, Rickey Henderson, Robin Yount and Eddie Murray deserve a place just like Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente. I grew up in the late 70's and 80's and the stars from that era are who I remember. Of course, I can afford to buy PSA 8's and 9's of all those players, so I do. Like I have stated in other threads I am trying to get at least the top 30 regular issue (not All-Stars, leaders etc) from 1959-1985. I will eventually expand beyond that, but I would like to finish those first. To me, the sets of the 70's and 80's display great in PSA holders.
I would love to even get Pre-War stars, but there is still so much I want from the 50's up.

Unc Bob,
I love the original Bowman cards. Your presentation is outstanding and way above anything I could do with a computer. Are all of these items from when you were a kid? They look great. If I ever start an all PSA Graded Set it will be the 52 Bowman. I just love the look of the 1950-52 Bowman Baseball.

Thanks for sharing these pics. Love the organization - I'm trying to get to that point myself. I found a shelf at Ikea that works great with the 3" binders. I was able to fit 12 in there perfectly. Problem is, it's full with the 12 sets/binders I have in there now so I can't take on any more projects without getting rid of one.
How to address - if stored vertically, there's not too much pressure on any one card, but there is the problem of sagging/gravity working on those pages. This could be addressed by stacking tightly together on a shelf, and especially, taking up any extra room in the binder with magazines, or cardboard, or foamcore - posterboard - whatever, to not allow the pages any room to sag.
Love organization and neatness

And in case you haven't noticed, I'm a big Roger Clemens fan.
I'm new to this forum (been reading it for months, don't post much). BTW, I really miss Hal Lewis's website (lewisbaseballcards.com). He had some unbelieveable cards!! I guess he didn't like the images been used for EBAY scammer sales so got rid of the website.
I'll take some pictures of my display's tomorrow and try to post them.
Dan
you need to move that Clemens 1993 Refractor more front and center!!!
