Mike, The dime came from the Hugon collection and the half dollar came from the George Byers collection and the names were never on the holders. I did not send in the 1905s Eliasberg half because I did not want to give up the old green holder. The third plus came on the 1904 0 half which is now a 66+.
Mike as you know I had to pay a lot for the 19040 but I knew that it was a 66+. There are only four ms66's and three of them are locked up in major collections. Here is the info on ms66 1904 0 halves:
Duckor- coin came from David Akers Shireman- Eliasberg coin Gardner- Thaine Price/ Emory-Nichols coin
Dr. Duckor has stated that he has never seen a 67 but the pops show two. My guess is that there is one and it was resubmitted at some point.
Mike, Yes the OGH on the 1905s has Eliasberg printed on it. I may send it to PCGS one day. I wanted to get a feel for how PCGS was grading under this new service so I held it back.
Well I must go to work now so we will talk more later,
Got my second to last Barber coin in the mail today. One more to complete the halves - dimes and quarters are done. It was a very much dipped 1909-O that I have been looking for since Nov of 2006. It's a nice AU 55 but way too white for most of your tastes - I have to squint to look at it. This leaves my nemesis - the 1896-O. Clearly it will have to be a 50 or 55 as the 58s make people crazy.
In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king.
Seems that the 1898-O uncentered broadstrike no longer has any meaning to me; while settling my Dad's estate, I found out that his Mother had lied to me about her birthyear; she was born in 1891 not 1898. She shaved off seven years so noone would know her true age.
So...although I have assembled a set of PR & MS 1898 coins, the date has lost its allure.
Not denying its a great coin - and its always a pleasure seeing it again.

<< <i>I saw the pics on Mike Byers' site... absolutely amazing coin! >>
I actually bought that 1897-S Broadstruck Half on a Teletrade auction back around 1996. I forget what I paid for it - as I returned it because my favorite coin dealer said there was little or no interest in Broadstruck coins - and that they didn't command much of a premium. [ I was fairly new at collecting Barber Halves then...] I saw the same coin a year later at a coin show in Ft Myers, FL at Don Bonser's table. [ as I remember for twice what I had paid for it on Teletrade.]
Can't cry over spilt milk...have to move on... however, next time I'm working on my gut-reaction and not the advice of someone else. I'd be thrilled to have that 97-S in my set now.
I should have my raw Dime submission grades the beginning of this upcoming week. The coins will be sent to Todd of BluCCphotos for imaging.
A special THANK YOU goes to Glenn Holsonbake for arranging the bulk submission. I know a few other Dime collectors are "patiently" waiting for the results as well.
Happy hunting.

Hey everybody. I was logged in to get a PM and decided to say Hi. I have been chasing my tail for the last year or so and have not been on the site that much. Hopefully, I can get back in the swing of things soon. I have missed a lot of Barbers over the last year or so, but catching up should be fun.

Thanks to another Forum Member, UMAKEM, InYHWHWeTrust, Two_Tone_VF35, I am able to show off two of his VF 35's about to be added to the Elbesaar - Two Collection:
Mike Hayes ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !
Check out the monumental barber half set of Dr. Duckor. He was able to get 28 of his magnificent halves in his set to get the coveted "+". Also, his set is entirely imaged, but the images are not directly in his set at the moment; you can find them on CoinFacts. If you haven't already signed up on Coin Facts, this is another reason you may want to do so. I suspect over time, many of the finest sets will be imaged as they are submitted for Secure Plus. These images are done outside of the holder and are wonderful.
I quickly noticed that Steve's 1904-S still retains its MS 67 grade; so you two are tied on that date.
Steve has a fantastic collection - and I'm thrilled for him to pick up so many Plus Grades on the Secure Plus system.
I need to see what the grades were from Dale's set - for the coins that Steve bought. Dale has a great eye and I'm sure his coins got Steve a few of those Pluses.
Today, I sent my recent purchase from Dale, an 1898-O Quarter in PCGS 65, into PCGS for the Quarterly Special - a Secure Plus regrade. My fingers are crossed.
So, Peter, when are you going to follow suit, and send in some of your Halves to PCGS's Secure Plus ?
Mike Hayes ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !
The Secure Plus is a great addition to the services offered by PCGS and is especially useful for securing the coins against coin doctors, grade-inflation, and theft-identity and recovery. I am keeping my mind open on this subject for now, as I see benefits, but there are the costs, as well. I do not consider my set "finished" yet, but I am reasonably close. Since it is not complete, doing it piece-meal doesn't seem the right thing to me. Steve Duckor has indicated that his set is complete, and I would do the same as he has done in that situation, especially if getting ready to sell in the not too distant future (not sure if this is his plan right now). As long as I keep my set in a SDB and enjoy them and don't plan to sell them (I certainly don't plan to dip them, doctor them or keep resubmitting them for higher grades), the Secure Plus is not an urgent issue for me. Getting the coins all professionally imaged and added to Coin Facts would be an additional favorable point for me. When I judge the time to be right, I will consider getting my set sent in for secure plus service. I am reasonably certain I will do this some day.
It would be fun to see if my 04-S half in 67 got a plus and we know that Dr. Duckor's did not. That would be strictly for bragging rights, and both coins are truly nice.
Several of Dr. Duckor's coins came from Dale and at least two of them made pluses if my memory serves me correct.
28 + coins in Dr. Duckor's set is amazing! It shows he must have a great eye.
Mike, That is one sweet looking 07-S. I wish I had that one for my 1st tier set. The 07-S has been a hard coin for me to find in higher grades unmolested. Congrats on the nice pickup! Brandon
VERY nice 07-S, that's a real sleeper coin in VF+, and that one looks to be really nice and original. IMO it's a date that's up there with the 05-O in difficulty, they seem to be less available than the 13-15 P mint coins.

Thanks, guys. The three newps from Don's InYHEHWeTrust's collection - UMakEm's collection, are very choice for their grades. The 07-S is certainly a tough coin - and a nice upgrade for the lower end VF I have in my 2nd set.
I'm thrilled to have these coins in my set. Thanks again, Don.
I received the grades and the certificate numbers for the raw Dime submission. The coins are at BluCCphotos as I type this, and once I have the images, I'll post them on the registry. The certified coins are now attached to the 2nd Tier set.
One surprise was finding out that my 1897-S had a RPM, it came back as an AU 55.
Also being sent to Todd are the other Barber Dimes - the ones that I bought pre-certified. Those images will also be added to my #1 set of Dimes on the Registry.

Darrell,
You need to have professional images taken of the
coins you just had "Secure Plus" service performed.
Although the two images are nice - I know the coins
themselves are much nicer.
As I remember, you had Pedigrees on your coins;
once the coins were regraded, did the coins retain
their pedigrees on the new holders ?
Congratulations on the "Three Pluses".

Darrell,
Thanks for the info; I forgot what coins of yours had a Pedigree
on the holder. Does the 1905-S [ ex: Eliasberg ] have the Pedigree ?
The OGH doesn't mean that much any more to me now that
the new Secure Plus system is in place.
I want to submit to "Secure Plus" a new Quarter that I got from Dale Friend
however, I'd like to keep the Pedigree on the holder.

My raw coins are hands down so much nicer than some of the precertified
