So here it is! LETS HAVE SOME FUN!!!! No playoffs for the Red Sox this year wooooooo hooooo

Interesting. I think you maybe right.

Once the Yanks get some bodies back they will really start rolling and pass the Sox. Unless of course the Red Sox find a way to get Ortiz 10 AB a game.
Im totally with you Dan. All year long we take nothing but crap day in and day out about the Yankees. We dont bash any other team, and for the most part give credit whenever its due. Time for a little fun.

Wow, this is a perfect thread - I almost expected murcerfan to come back and start it.
You guys think you have enough all-stars now? Posada's looking a little weak, maybe Joe Mauer is available - and Pujols would certainly be better than Giambi, I think you guys need him too.
What's funny is that you are in a no win situation - if you should win, everyone will say "of course you won, look at all the money your team spent, and the huge disparity between them and the rest of baseball". If you lose, it's really embarrassing, seeing as you can't win even with a quarter of a billion dollar plus payroll. Not sure I would want to be a Yankee fan with this being the case.
The Red Sox refused to overpay for junk - bottom line. They have a long term plan for success (no, it's not a "let's just throw money at it" plan, but a real plan built around young pitching and team defense. They were offered all the big names, but did not want to part with any young pitching, and wind up like the Yankees North in a few years.
Crisp is fine - Damon is still a phony two-faced traitor, and you can have him and his durham semolina arm...for the next 4 years! This wasn't the year we expected him to decline anyway, so enjoy it while you can. Crisp's name came up when the Braves offered Andruw Jones, one of baseball's best players, and there was nothing to it.
Enjoy patting yourselves on the back Yankee fans, hey - when all else fails, you can grab your Mets jersey's out of the closet this October.
Isnt it great to have a little $hit stirring going on when its all in good humor ?
I am totally down for the icon thing. Lets make it official.

Sheffield is on his best behavior right now because he doesnt have a leg to stand on. His health is in question, and he has no contract for next season. The minute he comes back, all we need to see is a few good weeks from him or a few bad ones from Abreu and he will be shooting his mouth off. Dont believe for one second that Sheffield is being a good soldier. He might be a dick, but he isnt stupid and knows if he stirs things up it could affect another payday.

They have been reeling lately, and they are not going to challenge the Yanks or Red sox if their potent bats and A.J. Burnett cannot beat Jaret Wright.
Varitek is out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury, but not the season. Lowell did not break his foot, he fouled a ball off it but according to Francona, he's fine. What, you are happy to see players get injured? Nice...
