Dontcha love how everyone ripped Damon as washed up at the beginning of the year and Coco Crisp as the young and promising star, and now not a word. Damon is everything the Yankees could have asked for and more while Coco hasnt done a thing.

Once the Yanks get some bodies back they will really start rolling and pass the Sox. Unless of course the Red Sox find a way to get Ortiz 10 AB a game.

Im totally with you Dan. All year long we take nothing but crap day in and day out about the Yankees. We dont bash any other team, and for the most part give credit whenever its due. Time for a little fun.

Randy is Done. Moose's arm is gotta be hanging by now. Damon is just an idiot. Abreu arm is worst than Damon's.. Matsui is hurt. Sheffield is hurt. Wang has been living on a prayer all season, his true colors will shine. Cabrera, Philips, Cano are just a bunch of silly farmhands.

Wow, this is a perfect thread - I almost expected murcerfan to come back and start it.

You guys think you have enough all-stars now? Posada's looking a little weak, maybe Joe Mauer is available - and Pujols would certainly be better than Giambi, I think you guys need him too.

What's funny is that you are in a no win situation - if you should win, everyone will say "of course you won, look at all the money your team spent, and the huge disparity between them and the rest of baseball". If you lose, it's really embarrassing, seeing as you can't win even with a quarter of a billion dollar plus payroll. Not sure I would want to be a Yankee fan with this being the case.

The Red Sox refused to overpay for junk - bottom line. They have a long term plan for success (no, it's not a "let's just throw money at it" plan, but a real plan built around young pitching and team defense. They were offered all the big names, but did not want to part with any young pitching, and wind up like the Yankees North in a few years.

Crisp is fine - Damon is still a phony two-faced traitor, and you can have him and his durham semolina arm...for the next 4 years! This wasn't the year we expected him to decline anyway, so enjoy it while you can. Crisp's name came up when the Braves offered Andruw Jones, one of baseball's best players, and there was nothing to it.

Enjoy patting yourselves on the back Yankee fans, hey - when all else fails, you can grab your Mets jersey's out of the closet this October.

Keep up the crying Ax. Melky, as a rookie CF converted to play anywhere in the outfield is doing wonderful. Big Bernie is having another solid season(Didn't you say he was finished/washed up/a has been? lol).

Sheffield is on his best behavior right now because he doesnt have a leg to stand on. His health is in question, and he has no contract for next season. The minute he comes back, all we need to see is a few good weeks from him or a few bad ones from Abreu and he will be shooting his mouth off. Dont believe for one second that Sheffield is being a good soldier. He might be a dick, but he isnt stupid and knows if he stirs things up it could affect another payday.

Holy crap ..... I did not see that report. Thanks for the link man ....

BUT STILL .... at this moment in time I am skeptical of a full fledged return by either Sheffield or Matsui. We shall see....

I find it humorous that a Yankee fan would start this thread. Considering that the Red Sox have Curt Schilling who basically can beat the Yankees any time it really matters. He even beat them in their house, on one foot. The Sox have Josh Beckett who clinched a World Series victory at Yankee Stadium with a complete game shutout. The Sox have David Ortiz who basically terrifies Yankee fans the minute he walks on the field. The Sox have Manny Ramirez who after Scott Procter declared, "I know how to pitch to him", proceeded to homer his next two at bats against him on balls that travelled about 1000 feet between them. Terry Francona the Sox manager has won four straight post-season games against the Yankees. The Yankees have Mariano Rivera, who blows a save against the Sox almost every third game. The Yankees have the league MVP A-Fraud who resorts to slapping the ball out of Red Sox pitchers hands because he is frusterated he cannot get the ball out of the infield. The Yankees have Derek Jeter who can lay claim to the fact that he is the only CAPTAIN in baseball history to be the leader of a team that blew a 3-0 series lead in the post-season. The Yankees felt their pitching was so strong that they had to go to the National League and find a pitcher with almost a 5.00 era to bolster their staff.

It should be a fun last two months of the season for the Yankees - three months for the Sox.

Did Mike Lowell break his foot tonight in the loss to Cleveland ?

...does that put Youkalis at third and Ortiz out in the field at first ?

edited to add: and what's this about Veritek out for the season and heading for knee surgery?

....no matter i guess...as genius Theo certainly has to be prepared for all these injuries.

Hell, put a fork in the BLUE JAYS!!

They have been reeling lately, and they are not going to challenge the Yanks or Red sox if their potent bats and A.J. Burnett cannot beat Jaret Wright.

Varitek is out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury, but not the season. Lowell did not break his foot, he fouled a ball off it but according to Francona, he's fine. What, you are happy to see players get injured? Nice...

but of course Jerry! The content fits your upside down and COMPLETELY slanted Red Sox goggles. Ct, care to elaborate more on your thoughts about how Yankee brass did not see the "situation" that they are in coming? Did not "plan" for it? About how the Yankees are now where they are because of misguided leadership? Interesting ....... the last I looked the Yankees are right there with the all mighty can do no wrong Red Sox. Whoooo hoooooooooooooo!

again ....... PUT A FORK IN THE RED SOX!

Hmmmm, 4-6 weeks in a 8 1/2 week season is pretty much THE season. And after surgery do you think a catcher of all positions will just get on with his knees like nothing happened when he comes back at CRUNCH TIME? Interesting development .....
