KC was a perennial contender during most of Brett's career there, so comparing the Royals of todays to those teams is disingenious at best.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
That's not a fair analogy at all. You could apply that to anyone superstar who wins a WS ring. KC has ZERO interest in winning and their owner is a disgrace to the fans and a greedy SOB.

Absolutely its fair when people try to justify jeter's 'superstar' status by the number of rings he has. Take away his world series rings and you have a player who has yet to crack the top 100 in hits, never led the league in BA, and who averages 18 home runs a season. Career .314 batting average puts him 75th all time.
Would he be a 'superstar' if he didnt play in NY and have won 4 world series? I highly doubt it.

Jeter's got 7-8 seasons left in him and will probably wind up with 3,000 hits and 2,000 runs scored before he's done. He is a HOFer with or without the rings but the fact is that he is a 4-time champion so you've got to give him his due. It's not like he wasn't a key player on those teams either. Next to Mariano, he's the most significant player on the teams of that era.

Jete's been doing it since his ROY-winning first season. Add the 4 WS rings, a WS MVP, throw in a couple gold gloves...Well you gotta star.
Kirby Puckett only averaged 19 homers per season and a lifetime BA of .318. Yes he had more gold gloves(But Ax, didn't you say they are just a popularity contest? Yes you did). So, I think if Kirby can be a star in all places Minny. Well, Jete rightfully has earned the same title in NY.

His wishing injury on opposing players and celebrating said injuries is the sign of a deluded mind.
Josh " Gopher Ball " Beckett had another great outing yesterday. Him and Ortiz should have a contest for most home runs...Ortiz HR's hit and Beckett HR's given up. Its 37 for Ortiz and 31 for Beckett as it stands now. Josh shouldnt give up hope, Im sure he can catch him !
That will be the only race involving the Sox come October.
"The other teams could make trouble for us if they win." -- Yogi Berra
Beckett is supposed to be better than that at this point in his career. He's a young guy getting into the prime of his career, Moose is getting up there in age and Johnson....well we don't even need to talk age with that fossil. Still with such "horrible" season the yankees pitching staff has the young "stud" Beckett has a 4.76 era and leads the Majors in home runs given up. lol, stud bullchit.

21 is a far cry from 31. Even more so when you are comparing a 43 yr old who is at the end of the line to a guy they are clinging their hopes of the future on.
"The other teams could make trouble for us if they win." -- Yogi Berra
Beckett will be fine. He is one of many young guns the Sox are counting on to anchor their future rotation. The best part is that he is young and he has already been around awhile. He is not a 26 year old rookie. Beckett has stood on the mound at Yankee Stadium as the winning pitcher in the last game of the World Series. When was the last time a Yankee starter accomplished that feat?
