MM had better hope that this pawn broker is NOT a CU member.
If he is, this could be the Mad Man's last score from that source.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

The broker is not even a coin dealer. They deal in gold and silver, but will buy coins when they come in. As far as ripping the set, I asked "how much", they gave me a price and I bought it. No rip involved!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!
YOU SUCK THIS MUCH !......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................!
I think it might, too. The lack of frost on part of the skirt might hold it back, but don't they give a little more leeway for 36-42 Walkers compared with, say 1960s JFKs?
<< <i>Went to a couple of coin shops today and found nothing! So I stopped by a small local pawn shop to see if they got any silver in. Looking around and they have nothing, but the pawn broker says he bought a year set and I can have it for $150. Well needless to say I jumped on it!! Here is the Walker and the Merc...

There is something fishy about that Merc, it says IN COD WE TRUST
You suck more than anyone has ever sucked before..........man...what a find.
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.
I was thinking..... whoever sold it to the pawn shop broker had NO idea what they had..... and I'm sure the broker knew the person selling it knew less about it than they did. Considering he sold the set to you for $150, what do you think he paid them? I'm betting melt.. if not less.. a lot less.
I'm curious if when he told you how much....did you immediately say 'I'll take it" or put on a little show first and act like you were thinking about it ?

Of course he put on an act. If he got too excited, then he would tip off the pawnbroker, although I bet it took every ounce of energy for Marty to contain his excitement.
Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

I have had a bunch of PMs asking where the shop is, like I'm going to tell you vultures that!! Hell, I drive around for half an hour just to make sure I'm not being followed!!! I know there is a marketmaker here who would love to know where I shop for coins!!!

Then Marty whined and said "Puhlease! It's my birthyear! Have mercy on me and the price!" The glint in the madman's eyes almost gave it away, so he pulled out a hanky and pretended to wipe tears (yeah, right! Like MM ever has tears!) to hide the growing gleam in his eyes.
When you see Marty pull up to your store, better hide the good stuff in the back. Here, his wheels were spotted down the street from a Southside pawnbroker.
The Philadelphia Mint: making coins since 1792. We make money by making money. Now in our 225th year thanks to no competition.
The last pawn shop I stopped at was asking MS65 prices for XF/AU coins. I offer XF/AU money and he says he can't do it because he paid MS65 money. I asked how he determined the price and he said that he has a coin grading book, used it to estimate the grades, looked in some price guide and made offers. He has 200,000 in gold worth about 25,000. Needless to say I left without anything.

What's even crazier is the person who pawned those coins could have put them on ebay and got a lot more than the pawn shop gave them.
People's stupidity is truely a wonder.

Now why would you say that? I have seen people bring rolls of silver unc coins into the bank, or cash in $1000 bills at the bank.
