I wanted to post my Christmas present to myself but I am having trouble uploading it due to sizing?
Can someone teach me how to resize pictures? I tend to lurk in the background but I do really enjoy
    reading this thread. Happy Holidays.

    Ok,

The Henry Jordan saga continues. The seller sent the Jordan to JSA who authenticated it even though it was rejected by PSA. I sent to PSA yesterday to cross over...so we'll see what happens.

I hope everything had a safe and fun NYE! Hopefully we can all further our collection during 2009.

Just to start off a little conversation, what is everyone's collecting goals for 2009? Mine is to add at least one more card to my collection (besdies the class of 2009 additions), continue w/ my 1950's signed Topps and Bowman sets and expand my signed HOF rookie card collection. I now have 16 signed RC's which I'll scan and upload this weekend. I just got back a Trippi, Lavelli and Moore the other day...very sweet.

    Rgs,

    Greg M.

As soon as you posted that, I thought it would be ukredskins before even clicking the link.

Amazing that he posts: "All autographs, certified, showcase, game day, TTM etc have a complete lifetime guarantee and money back if not completely satisfied with authenticity/description/condition" in his auctions, but when someone wants a refund, he refuses to honor his guarantee. Isn't it about time we start to boycot him?

Reese, Todd nor I will ever buy from him again. I really wonder whether CJ is trying to pass this auto off as Bidwell Sr???!!! If so, it would remove all doubt as to whether he has been selling questionable autographs (and not honoring his "guarantee").

Wow! I have a scan of a Bidwell Autograph somewhere, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't look like that. I refuse to buy anything after waiting almost 5 months to get a refund on 4 1955 Topps All American Autographs that never showed up. After the first refund check to me bounced, I finally got another that finally cleared. It was an awful experience.

    Hello Everyone
I don't know if everyone saw it or not, but the last cut down was released by the Hall yesterday. They got it down to 15 modern day players/coaches/contributors + the old-time nominees ( Bob Hayes & Claude Humphrey ) The Hall is also doing their annual contest. Go to www.profootballhof.com It is VEEERRRRRY simple. Just correctly pick the new class and you go into a drawing to win a $1,000.00 Gift Certificate to the HOF Gift Shop. The class will be at LEAST 4, and no more than 7. I hope someone out there reading this wins, because I am POSITIVE that I won't. Last year, I submitted 7 names, and THREE of them got elected. Good Luck. ( I know tha I'll need it !!!!! )

Just a question for everyone who is working on the Auto'd Card Set. Is anyone else concerned that non-auto'd cards are allowed to be added? I mentioned this to BJ just after V2 was launched, she said that they would take care of it. Yet I still see that some of my regular cards are still accepted by V2 to this date.

He told me the same thing. Then I informed him that Sr died in 1947 (included the HOF bio page) and that a 1956 card could never have been signed by Sr. He emailed me back saying that he was pulling the item.

Great due diligence that CJ perfoms on the cards that he sells!! I can't decide whether he is a crook or the most ignorant autograph dealer on the planet! Either he is running a massive autograph forging ring or he is so ignorant that he will buy any autograph card without researching whether the autograph is authentic.

Any way you look at it, CJ (ukredskins) is a guy who knowingly sells fake items and doesn't care. Here are some exact quotes from one of his minions...

"He is probably one of the most savvy and clever businessmen I know."

"He buys and sells collections en masse, and is very knowledgeable"

well, let us break this down a bit shall we....

    1. Yes, he is very savvy with his business dealings. He will mix many good autographs with the bad. He knows it, as with the most recent example of Charles Bidwell proves this point. There are other examples to prove this point that I have seen through the years. Warren Lahr anybody?

    2. He may very well buy and sell large collections. But, if you are going to buy a large collection, wouldn't a Charles Bidwell signed card stand out!?! It would be a super find and command a very high premium. I would think he would do his homework and at least find out when the guy died, for his own sake. Does he want to purchase fake items for himself??? When you purchase large collections, you check the big named items and the lesser ones usually just come without much checking. If the big named items are bogus, what are you buying?

If I am buying something and spending hundreds if not thousands on a collection, I would certainly make sure the Charles Bidwell autograph has at least a possibility of being real.

And guess what, I am sure he did and probably figured to just throw it up there and hope someone bits really quick. Once it is sold, it's sold. Oh well in his mind. No refunds like he says he will give...right guys? That is why he had it at a "reasonable" price for such an item. Kind of like in poker when you make a value bet! You hope someone comes along and doesn't think about things and just hits the "buy" button.

The person that said the above quotes is just as guilty as CJ (ukredskins). He obviously knows he sells out right fakes, questionable items and some good items all mixed in. He knows he can fall back on the old "I bought it in a huge collection" lie and get away with it.

Not this time. There is no doubt that CJ from UKREDSKINS put up an autographed card that he knew was simply bogus. That is why he took the auction down and removed the picture as soon as he was called on it.

I decided to ask him a question about it as well. I played it off as I thought this was a great find. Here is his reply.

Buy and trade for the best my friend, it keeps the good guys like yourself coming to my ebay/web pages.

Yes is Senior ! Football HOFer !

    Jim,

Great post. I copied a print screen of the auction page into a word file which is safely saved to my computer. Everyone at some point has sold a bad autograph. However, what makes CJ so unique is that he postures himself as a top tier autograph "expert" however he doesn't know enough to question whether Charles Bidwell could have signed a 1956 Topps team card? I also agree w/ your point about the price he was selling the card for ($300) should have been a dead giveaway that the autograph was questionable. I can only image what an authentic Charles Bidwell signed team card would sell for. Personally, I'd pay 3 to 5 times what he was asking if the autograph was authentic.

I also find it amusing that CJ rants and raves about PSA when his autographs are rejected (I personally own 6 cards bought from CJ totaling $1400 that were rejected) yet posts a link in his auctions for PSA/DNA. It's very convenient to rant and rave about PSA/DNA and scream how they have no idea what they're doing. Personally, I'd trust a newly hired PSA/DNA staff w/ a database of exemplars more than CJ any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Well, got a nice chunk back. Here's a few. I also got a '48 Bowman Luckman, but that's gonna get auctioned. I may be jumping the gun on Humphrey, but what the heck...

BTW, the Bednarik really looks pretty filthy in the holder . . . but then again, it is!

I think I remember reading somewhere that with the PSA/DNA Set Registry the autograph has to be assigned a grade in order for them to be added.

Congrats on the auto's - especially the George Allen. He must have signed every autograph with the same crappy black marker...lol. Mine looks similiar, albeit not as bold as yours.

Greg, please post a scan of the Kenny Houston card when you get it back. That's a terrific rookie card all by itself. I would love to see one signed.

    Reese,

Ron Gordon had several at last year's national...do you have his phone number? What's funny is that I bought the 55 Topps AA Berwanger, Bertelli and Blanchard for ~$120 total - and all three autographs are perfect!

    Greg,

I bought a 55 Nomellini from Ron Gordon at the National. I have his business card somewhere I'll give him a call on of these days to see what he has. You got a great deal on those. My Bertelli was $100 and it's trimmed and my Blanchard was $140 (PSA 4). Both where normal ebay auctions.

    Reese,

He had them in a binder and had a couple of each from what I remember. I may be off $20 to $30 in total (maybe I paid $50 each) but his prices were very, very reasonable.

I got the package of cards from Bill - so I'll be sending out my Bednarik rc to be auto'd soon image

By the way, does anyone have an unsigned Bednarik Exhibit card? That is the last cards I need signed to have every Bednarik card signed from 1948 to 1991.

    Jim,

Could you help me with whether the following guys are still alive:

    BARRY FRENCH
    AL BALDWIN
    MIKE SWISTOWICZ
    DICK HUFFMAN
    BILL BLACKBURN
    BOB PERINA
    JOE SCOTT
    BILL LEONARD
    BOB KELLY
    PAUL BURRIS
    JERRY SHIPKEY
    EARL MURRAY
    FRANK SINKOVITZ
    WASHINGTON SERINI
    JIM WHITE

All had cards in the 1950 Bowman set - and I'm trying to determine whether they're alive (to hopefully send an autograph request if they are). By the way, thanks to your help identifying whether players from the 1955 Bowman were alive, I just got back cards autographed by Doug Eggers and Jerry Helluin. For some reason, I couldn't find an entry for either player on the www.sportscollectors.net web site. Typically, if no one has written to a player from the sportscollectors website then the player has been deceased for at least 10 years (as the first entries on the website were circa 1999).

    Anyways, thanks again.

    Rgs,

    Greg M.

Will do. It's not mine, but I'll post a scan regardless.

no problem - I did the set last year for Rube. I believe it was 1950??? I don't have it anymore. You can see if he still has the list saved.

    JOHN GREENE - alive
    BOB NOWASKY - March 1971
    JOE GOLDRING - ? If you mean Golding? - Dec. 26, 1971

    Jim:

Wow... What a reference source you are!

I wish there was a source to find these things as I continue to search through all of the '48 Leaf guys and seem to find one each week that I can't confirm has passed after I've written them off already. Do you know where I might be able to at least find a list of those in the set that are still surviving?

The latest is Eugene Rossides. I cannot confirm that he's passed, but then again I can't find an addy, either. He had quite an interesting career after football.

Anyway, your efforts and knowledge are greatly appreciated and do you know where I might be able to at least find a list of those in the set that are still surviving?

image <--- wow, first time I used one of those things!

If you go to my web site below you will find the top 1,000 oldest living nfl players. If you do not see a name you are looking for, they are 99.9% known to be dead. I am sure I am missing a few, but I am always working on it.

Gene Rossides is alive and well. He is a great signer. Here are a few items he signed for me. I'll PM his address.

If you need to find out if a player is alive or has passed, just ask. Glad to help.

Reese - Rosenburg is dead for sure. I did some research on him last summer, he was a film director after his career.

    ANDY BERSHAK
    AARON ROSENBURG -- Deceased
    HANK FOLDBERG -- Deceased
DON ZIMMERMAN -- Surviving (assuming this is the former Eagle and Packer from the 1970's)
    EDWIN DOOLEY
DUANE PURVIS -- Deceased (But a helluva burger at TripleXXX Family Restaurant in West Lafayette)
CHARLES BRICKLEY -- If this is the Harvard alum and NY Football Giants founder, then he passed on December 28, 1949
    BILL DADDIO -- Deceased
