And a 2-reales piece from the Hampton Plantation site. The original sternpost of the USS Constitution was made from a big oak at Hampton. Aaron Burr stayed there as a guest in 1804, after he shot Hamilton in the duel. I wonder if he lost this coin. Probably not, since I think the area I found it was closer to the slave cabins.
That is one of a trio of colonials I found there. The other two in the trio were French and Irish colonial issues. From a much later era, I also found the nicest SLQ I've ever dug (a high grade 1929).
But I digress.
Next coin posted should be from Mexico or Spain or be dated 1779.

That's Mexico or 1787, folks. Spain would also be acceptable in this case since the coin in question was issued in what was then part of their empire.
