I don't own a hockey card, never have, and never will.

That being said, that Howe card is absolutely stunning!!!!

    Nice pick up.

Just got these back from a November special submission:

I still need 8 cards to improve my 1960 Fleer set. I'm hoping for one or two in a submission to follow.

    Albertan

Congratulations on the Gordie card! It's the best one I've seen here! Thanx for sharing it.

    Nearmint

That Jack Lee is pure perfection! Sweet card. Thanx for sharing and good luck on the card you need to improve your set.

Also, when I click on the photos in your set - no pics come up - is it my computer?

    Merry Christmas

That's like asking a fisherman where he caught his trophy fish!

It was actually in a large group of cards I bought privately a while back. Since I had a couple of 9's already, I hadn't sent it in. Most of the cards in the set I submitted myself, but I did get help with the Cannon and Kemp rookies.

No, the pics just disappeared one day a year or two ago, and I never scanned them back in. I figured the CU admins would just lose them again. Many of the cards are the ones shown on my gallery site, though I cropped off the holders.

Great cards, Sagard! I love that set, and someday I'll put one together. The Larry Doby is one of my favorite cards of all time.

Here's a scan of my Doby card, plus a postcard showing the photo it was painted from.

(no, this isn't new in the mail, but I thought it'd follow the other 50 Bowmans nicely...)

Ummm...what happened to the state of Wisconsin on that Boyd Dowler card? Last I lived there, the peninsula was on the *east* side of the state. You know, by that big lake. It's been a few months, but I'm going home tomorrow. Maybe I should check to make sure the lake didn't move.

Nice '50 Bowmans sagard, esp your Jackie! If it were me I'd be afraid to keep it in that page, thinking I'd curl or crease it - but that's 'cuz I'm a bit of a klutz. image

tennessee, did you pick up your Hubbell from Wayne Varner? That's where I got my similar '33 Ruth - same Good grade, with very rounded corners, and tremendous eye appeal. image

You're just used to seeing the front of the state. The Dowler card shows the back.

Maybe they flipped the logo for left handed players?

I'd never really noticed that Boyd had that Peyton Manning/James Van Der Beek rutabaga head.
  • Yessir, I picked it up from ole WV himself. I like it cause it has character, Just the right amount of wear for a card of its age.

Yup, I recognized it as the wear pattern on those cards he got in was so consistent, and unusual. My Ruth is the same way as your Hubbell. Sweet card, BTW! image
  • Bob....thanks for posting my Gordie Howe Card!!! It really looks good....I wish I knew
what I was doing around the computer!!

Yeah I am really happy with it......from a classic set for sure....

  • Those '33 Goudeys are just magical. Great Hubbell.

That Howe is a beaut. I too am a proud owner of one and the day I sell it is the day the proceeds are used for my casket.

    Unfortunately, I have an HP.

    And the programs vary.

My guess tho - after you scan - then you go and "crop" the pic before accepting the scan for storage?

After you crop and before you "accept" the pic - look for a drop down that will ask you about "RESIZING" the scan.

The choices will be in pixels, inches, mm's - I would pick pixels as a default.

If you don't want to eat the screen and annoy everyone - try to keep the width at no more than about 500 pixels.

Check inside the program and LMK what you see.
