when people poke fun and say you collect pictures of Men (baseball cards) at least i can say "well i dont collect the T218!!" >>
I have to believe that this is just sarcasm, because I would rather own T-218 set than 90% of the baseball card sets out there. Those things are works of art and some of the most beautiful cards ever made, IMO.
just funny i thought because people will say i collect pictures of men (referring to baseball cards)....but if they ever saw the T218 set they would really think im strange...
Here's what the SCD Standard Catalog says about them: "To test a proposed cardboard stock from International Paper Co., a run of 100 sheets of test cards was printed and delivered to Fleer officials. The cards on the sheet include various combinations of correct picture/name combinations, incorrect picture/name combinations and cards with no player identification. All cards have the words "TEST CARD" overprinted in black in the player identification area at the bottom center, along with the letters "o", "n" or both veticaly at the left end of the oblong. Backs are blank. At least half of the 132 card test sheets have made their way into the hobby where they are offered both as complete sheets and as hand-cut single cards or panels. A number of the photos seen on the test cards did not appear in Fleer's 1982 card set. Each of the 66 cards is double printed on the sheet."
SidePocket, That is really is a nice looking centered Mathews. The centering on alot of his cards are off L to R, or T to B. Good job in getting a nice one.
Just got these in the mail today. They are for trade if someone has some nice Cardinal stuff. The Yaz is #ed to 25, the Evans to 50, and the Rice to 99.

Stone - thanks for the compliment. Centering is the most important criteria for me and as much as it's currenly being emphasized, I think it will only become more crucial in years to come.
Here's another Hall of Fame player I acquired not too long ago. He's all too often overlooked even though he played a major role in changing the sport of professional baseball.
Dave - those are the best hand-cuts from that period I've ever seen!
Here's something I picked up - I'm not a tobacco collector - but the Helmar pack is so cool looking! The blanket that came with it is not a Helmar product - I don't collect these - B18 I believe?
Still working on my 1960 Fleer football set. I wasn't sure Cooper actually played in the AFL--some players in the 1960 Fleers never played a down--but pro-football-reference.com says he played 3 seasons for the Titans. Among his stats: in his 3 years he attempted one field goal and missed it, and he had 3 kickoff returns for a total of 3 yards.
Took a chance and bought some 60s GAI graded wax today, plus a 1971 GAI Harlem Globetrotters Pack too! (seller's feedback looks good, plenty of satisfied pack customers!)
Hope I did well?
Just didn't see too many graded mid 60s packs for under 20 bucks!

Nice card---

I saw a special on the Monkees a few weeks back - I knew they were a 'made for TV' group but knew very little else. Quite an eye opener.
Ex-Monkee:
This is Mike Nesmith - interesting tidbit - his mom invented 'white out' - called Liquid Paper - I believe - so his family was very comfortable - his mom sold the company before she died for 47 million - back in 1980 - that was a-lotto-whiteout!!!!
Footnote: It seems like 1970 wax of all sorts command a nice premium. This GAI graded pack only cost me around $11 + shipping. Not much of a downside risk here.

packman --- great looking Cracker Jacks! Someday, when I win the lottery...
And who doesn't love any card from 1982? Nice cards, all. As usual.

SP - that's a sweet 5!!! Matthews never looked better!
This is one of the best Hartlands I've picked up! Roger Maris
Alot of the times, the toe plate is broken or missing.

Old Aches and Pains somehow managed to play for two decades.
The centering is super - I've found competition increases immensely when the centering is there!

This is not sports but had to share - I saw this as a kid - I collect movie lobby cards from the Sci-Fi/Thriller movies of the 50s.
