I got this email from David (aka: turtleguy65)....
Pretty strange stuff!!!!!!!!
...here is the email I just received:
"...The story takes another turn.I just heard from the buyer of 1800.00 in "unopened vending boxes."He drove to ned's place of business-that computer barn-and received his 1800.00 back in full in cash. This is the story as related by ned:he "loaned "his ebay id to his friend of 20 years so that person could liquidate his stuff. All of the unopened wax packs, boxes, etc. are property of that friend. Now Ned is on the receiving end of all this flak.He has contacted the FBI and there is an ongoing case against this friend. He asked me to send him all of the 6 vending boxes I bought from this friend because it is now evidence. The case involves over 100,000.00.I personally know that the FBI does not get involved in cases under that amount.I don't know what you think of this drama and I don't know what to make of it either. All I know is that I am getting refunded in full within two weeks.I'll know more when 431.00 is in my hands.Bizarre.Palpable?maybe.David..."

Is that where Rita's is? Is it worth stopping at? Inquiring minds need to know! There's little good food around the FW show area to begin with...
Ctsox, it was located on a road that bought me from the doubletree inn to the show. I was there only once so I am not quite sure. It is one town over I believe.
Why is this thread so long ? Can someone save me from reading this whole thread and fill me in on the jist of the issue ? You know, 'To make a long story short...yadda yadda yadda"
Any chance you could get FBI info from this David (turtleguy65)? I have $1,225 that should be refunded to me! Sounds like quite a yarn, but hey, if this turns out to be true, then I sure would like to make my claim against "The Phantom Friend Of Nedsk". (Also my entry for the new name of this thread if it turns out to be true) I'm still a little skeptical as I think I would have received an e-mail from Ned explaining about such an invest. All buyers would be contacted by the FBI as well so they could get a complete invest and stack up the charges against the suspect!
You would probably be able to contact the FBI field office closest to you, the nearest metro area. They would then deal with the office handling the case. Blue federal info pages in most phone books.
<<< There are 325 Rita's in 10 states and more to come. >>>
Everybody from Philly knows Rita's - I average one Rita's water ice per day during the summer...sometimes two! Didn't realize they were now in ten states - but not surprising because of how good a product it is.
Italian ices rule supreme but my favorite is Carvels. Sort of like a high quality Dairyqueen type thing.

Yes, and yes again! Italian Ice is the rule around here, but I'll make it a point to look up Rita's when I'm at the Fort next month. Also, you can't beat Carvel for some great soft serve ice cream...and those Tom Carvel commercials are practically a part of my youth. Carvel was the first place I ever got a sundae in a mini plastic baseball helmet, and I made sure to collect all the teams!
Coming from the Northeast I heartily endorse both Rita's and Carvel.
When at Carvel buy the "Cookiepuss" ice cream cake. Carvel is worth your business just for their old commercials with Sam(?) Carvel himself doing the announcing.
Question - What was the name of the whale shaped Carvel ice cream cake? I was trying to remember this last week. There was a seal or walrus also.
I purchased some wax from Wax from the Past owner Ryan Rutter and he was the guy who purchased the (i believe) '59 football wax, got it graded GAI 9 and sold to another collector. He did however purchase more from NEDSK and the other items were clearly searched.
Since then, he said NEDSK has liquidated his retirement, savings, assets, etc.. to pay off all his e-bay and scam-related debts. He said NEDSK has paid him back SOME of the $$$$ he spent, but still has to pay so many people out now, that it's hard to say if he'll ever get all his cheese back.
I thought ryan bought 2 items, and one was good one was bad. and the bad one he got a refund and that was the reason he left a glowing pos feedback. where did the money go that was sent to nedsk to pay for these items? why would he have to liquidate his retirement funds? couldnt he just refund the money which was sent to him?
I am opening a Rita's down here in Maryland next March. Glad to hear the endorsements. My wife and I have been going to Rita's for 6 years, and we decided to open one 2 years ago. The process has been long and frustrating, but I am hoping worth it in the end.

A guy I worked with for about two years was seriously considering opening up a Rita's in Northeast Philly in the Cottman & Bustleton Ave area. He left the company and I didn't keep in touch with him to know if he ever did that, but I remember him telling me the franchise cost. I forget the exact amount, and this was back around 1998 but it was a high dollar figure so I understand a little bit the "process" you went through. The good thing though is I have never seen a Rita's go out of business.
<< <i>Fudgie The Whale! Now, this is classic stuff - who needs to talk about this nedsk bum anyway? >>
I really like the chrunchy chocolate bits that they put in the ice cream cakes and you get them as a topping instead of regular chocolate sprinkles!!!!
We have nothing in San Antonio that I know of with the quality of Carvel.
Sorry I don't think I have ever gone to a Ritas but it sounds great!
RobBob I genuinely wish you all the good fortune in the world with your new store! Sounds like a great opportunity and a challenge.
I always wanted to have a little sandwich shop with a self serve sitdown and provide the best quality stuff.
Sorry, I have nothing to contribute about Rita's (which needs its own thread at this point!) but I don't believe the story about loaning his eBay ID to a "friend" who ripped all those people off. It doesn't jibe with explanations he's been giving people in the past.
He is paying back many thousands of dollars to victims out of his own pocket while the FBI investigates his friend? Sounds very noble, but farfetched. I think he is repaying people to avoid legal problems for himself, and using the "friend" story to save face, and save his reputation.
I e-mailed Ned once again asking for a refund and his co-worker e-mailed me back stating that Ned was out of town for a couple of weeks but when he returned he would refund my money if I returned the item? He claims Ned was wronged by some guy and Ned has taken money from his retirement fund to repay people? I had indicated in my e-mail that perhaps the local FBI might be interested in my information? I have received a few e-mails from individuals who have received refunds. One was a refund of over $1,200! Still I am very concerned about shipping back my evidence? I have decided to file a Square Trade Mediation in hopes of further documenting what I have and having Ned confirm that with Square Trade. I have already filed a claim with eBay that is pending for the Max. of $200 less $25 handling fee. If Square Trade is involved this may be of some assistance to me? We shall see how it pans out? Wish Me Luck
i was looking at the 58 topps unopened "pack" that nedsk attempted to sell on ebay and not only was it a homemade pack, as we all know by now, but i have a strong suspicion that the wrapper he used was also fake--i compared his wrapper to the wrapper on the gai graded pack from mr mints unopened auction in april and another wrapper that sold on ebay earlier this week (ebay # 5222855736)--maybe someone can throw side-by-side scans of nedsk's pack and the ebay wrapper into a post b/c i'd be interested to hear if others agree--all one needs to do is look at the difference in the letters of "Baseball" in the two wrappers and one will see exactly what i'm talking about--the letters in "Baseball" in nedsks wrapper are very round, almost primitive looking with no black shadow surrounding them. the letters in "Baseball" on the real wrapper have harder, more defined lines and edges plus alot more black or "shadow" surrounding each letter. i know back in the 50's technology was alot less advanced than it is today, and quality control back then wasnt close to what it is today (all one needs to do is look at the 58 set itself and the printing inconsistencies that exist in the cards themselves), but there is no way that the lettering could be so blatantly different from one wrapper to another unless one of them was fake (and the lettering on the pack in the mr mint auction was exactly the same as the ebay wrapper which means nedsk's wrapper was phony)--besides, the 58 five cent wrapper is a very diffcult wrapper to come by (as opposed to the one cent variation which is much less scarce). so maybe nedsk has a printer that he can load with wax paper to print his own wrappers!
always looking for 1958 and 1959 topps baseball in psa 7 and 8
Paypal was not used in my transaction as Ned would not accept it. That was one of the first red flags that told me to go away from the auction. I'm only using Square Trade as another forum to document that I had a transaction that went south (with Nedsk) and for him to confirm with Square Trade that in fact he is willing to provide a full refund. Of course it is no guarantee that the refund will be honored, but perhaps you have a better solution? It may also allow me at minimum to have the (retaliatory negative feedback I received from Ned removed? Fortunately I have never been in this situation before, so I'm kind of flying by the seat of my pants on this one! I thank all the kind souls who have shared their thoughts on this message board and those that have e-mailed me with additional information. It all helps a little here and there Should I receive a full refund, I will be sure to share the news in this undying thread
I tried e-mailing buyers before auctions close to warn them about that guy!! Unfortunately he got win of it and changed his auctions to private!!! A lot of E-bayers got taken by that crook!!! I believe he also went by user names-Paoutdoorsman2004,terror12191960,treasureseeker52296,vitntagewax80,I even tried warning e-bay but they did nothing!!! I can't belive he still has his account with E-bay it is unreal!!! Sandlotheros

This thread has really taken some strange turns.
Do you think "nedsk" frequents Rita's or Carvel?
actually it was Tom Carveloppoulous.
or somting like that.

Another bad thing about Rita's is that it is not open the entire year. Don't close, please stay open so I can get my swirl in December!!
But that was the real attraction...I will be off for 5 months!

East Coast from Connecticut to Florida I think. We have one here in Ft. Myers, FL which I beleive is the southernmost Rita's location.
As for nedsk, we have all devoted quite a bit of time to this thread. Maybe we should file for class action.
I don't buy his excuse either. He certainly knew quite a bit about the auctions and some picked up the items from his place of business.

That is interesting as to why he is being so accomodating? Perhaps fear of criminal prosecution set this scamboy straight.
