    For the morning crew.

I cant really say if this Peace Dollar

is the finest in the world, but it is

certainly the prettiest one I have seen

    for sale, in my travels.

Yes, but are any of them toned????

Great looking coin but I'm not sure it's the World's Finest -- Art's coin is spectacular, Toningintheblood has a 34-D that is amazing as well, it's hard to say which one is the World's Finest.

I doubt it would cross at the same grade. And with that color and a * I'd just leave it in the NGC holder.

I know, I've never seen a MS66* toned Peace $. I have 4 MS65* (all different dates) toned Peace $ in my set and would love to get a MS66* I keep looking, but haven't seen a single one. If there's a MS66* that might be the world's finest then.

yes, when the eye appeal is greater than the actual physical condition.

The picture just shows the color and not the coins luster. I bet you barely see the mark in real life with blazing luster and great toning.

Actually, Cameron was right on target. The pictures do not adequately

represent the pearlescent nature of the colors or the superb lustre on

both sides. The marks on the face are barely noticable. One must remember

that when you enlarge a picture, it always turns a small blemish into the Grand Canyon.

The coin is superior to the picture in many ways. One must really hold the coin in hand

to appreciate its strike, luster and toning.

I have never seen one either.
I just received a free grading certificate from NGC, I may submit my 22D for crossover with the stipulation to cross only if it will receive the Star Designation.

............allrighty then ; prettiest one i ever seen in a 65 holder ! And it's just terrible the way people point out those marks on the cheek- the rub , etc . They are just jealous i'll bet image

Im a big boy. Many of the observations are correct.

However you have to weigh the positives against the

negetives and make a personal decision as to the coin.

If one cant stand criticism about coins and a judgement,

then that person should not participate on a coin forum.

The coin looks beautiful, but I have a serious question about the 65 grade. I thought a mark on the cheek like what's apparent in the picture might take it out of the 65 category. Would this easily cross to PCGS as a "5"?

I think it is a solid 65. I'd like to see a pic showing the luster like bear described.

Looks fine to me, but the pic has been a bit tweeked. Actually it looks like Dansco toning I see on some Ike dollars. I'd like to see the reverse. It's hard to say for sure from the pics, but I suspect the coin is NT. I have 3 toned Peace $ with natural tight rainbow rims much like Bears so it isn't unheard of to see color like that, though its rare.

Why is it that there are no Morgan's out there with that same close banded rainbow toning pattern that this coin evidences from 6 to 10 o'clock?

I've seen some Ike's like this, but never Morgans.

I keep thinking that Bear would have preferred just enjoying this without publicity. In peace, so to speak.

Note I wasn't suggesting this is AT, or not AT for that matter. I really have no idea nor do I know enough to even render an opinion.

From what I have seen, Morgans and Peace Dollars tone (if at all) in very different ways. I wonder why that is.

The planchet wash as well as storage methods. Peace $ were not kept in canvas bags in vaults for 75 years, for the most part. You can have some Peace $ with rather vivid envelope toning though. If you get lucky, a Peace $ like the one Bear just bought will develope some nice rim tone in an album.

And if you're really lucky (as in lotto lucky) you can find a textile toned Peace $ or a bag toned crescent as well.
