Let me just say this...from a veteran of 4 years....I now track what I spend...if you don't, be ready to be amazed when you get the credit card bill!! Everytime I go to the store, if there was a booster box there, I bought it!

I stack all my empty booster boxes in the corner of my room - gives me a ballpark figure of how much I've spent, and I can get all the UPCs off them if/when I send my rejects back!

edit: has anyone noticed anything interesting about the cartoons on the back with respect to sp's vs. commons of the same number? And there is one SP/common combo that has the same cartoon but with a different narrative...anyone?

YEP, I noticed this too!!! imageimage

I just hit Target, and grabbed 5 blaster boxes, everyone was looking at me like I had 6 heads. I talked to four people in like, one guy knew they were the 56 design, one wife went over and bought a searched pack for her husband, kids kept asking me if I was going to open them or save them.. I never met so many people in my life at Target. Another asked "are those a good deal" I just smiled and said "I really love the gum!"

edit Some 10 year old kid told me the sory of how his kid sister wrote her name on all the cards that were her's so he couldn't take them. Bratty brother!!!!!!!!

Blaster boxes finally hit the Target in Merced CA. I went to WalMart first, and saw an opened, full to the top 12X2, but thought I'd hit Target before coming back. Four blaster boxes - here's the tally.

No light backs whatsover in any box.

    Box 1:
    SP/inserts: 125B Garciaparra, 414 Everett, 416 Sheets, NAP9 IRod, T&N Friend/Livan, THC Thome

    Box 2:
SP/inserts: 155B Chavez, 445 Moss, 448 Campbell, 468 Melillo, 471 Strayhorn, Musial Flashback, THC Prior and THC refractor Goleski

    Box 3:
    SP/inserts: 3B Soriano, 461 Hairston Jr., 465 Garcia, T&N Aaron/Ichiro, NAP6 Thome, THC Bagwell, THC Blalock

    Box 4:
SP/inserts: 260 Izturis, 406 Wilson, 412 Mora, 443 Mueller, Larsen Flashback, THC Palmeiro, THC refractor Thome

Everything available for trade with the exception of the Izturis, Bagwell chrome and Palmeiro chrome. I am looking for hits to my 2001-2003 Heritage wantlists, or 2004-2005 Heritage Chrome wantlist. The link to my list is in my profile. Thanks!

This post is regarding 2002 Topps Heritage, hopefully it's not considered off topic... Anyway on with my post

So my streak is finally over. I finally got an autograph out of a Heritage pack (2002 - Al Rosen). However, it did not come out in good condition. In fact 3 of the 4 corners have issues, something not acceptable coming out of a sealed box; all of the other cards in the pack were just fine. I know you can send cards back to topps, but what about Real One Autos? Do they accept them as well?

Thanks in advance for any help.

After buying 5 hobby boxes and initiating 4 trades over the past couple of weeks (thanks Keith, John, Chris and Dave!) I couldn't resist the urge to open more packs this weekend, so I called around town to see if any hobby boxes were left. (Retail blaster boxes haven't made it to our local Targets yet.) One shop had 4.5 boxes so I asked them to hold one for me and I hopped in the car. Browsed around the shop a bit then bought the box the clerk had set aside for me. As I'm walking out the door, I stop, turn around and say to the clerk: "I know this sounds ridiculously superstitious, but can I exchange this box for the third one in on the shelf?" He says OK and we exchange boxes. I don't know what overcame me, but I felt an undeniable urge to pick the box myself and not take the one he chose for me. I'd never done that before, and I don't buy much modern stuff anyway.

Well, I'm glad I paid attention to my "inner voice" because 5 packs into the box, this appeared.....

    image

Easily the best pull of my life, what a thrill it was to uncover that card! The whole box was pretty loaded -- every pack had either an SP, chrome or insert (including the checklist packs!) In addition to the Snider auto I pulled 13 SPs, 5 chromes including 2 refractors, 2 NAPs, 1 Flashback and 2 Then & Nows. Lots more tradebait now too, keep on the lookout for my next post on the Heritage BST thread.

man that is huge. tell me its for trade PLEASE!!

I really am glad that so may people here are trying heritage and nailing big time pulls. Im going to start the binder and sheet
set up and start putting my set in them. When the sets is finally complete and you can sit down and look at everything will
    the true payoff come.

Of course a Duke Snider or Frank Robinson auto along the way doesn't hurt either!

Why do they (whoever they are) insist on Blue Sharpie? Ease for the signer?

Sharpie just looks terrible compared to ink from say a pen made by Cross?

    Anybody?

edited to add: Great pull btw!
    Good for you.

But if you had walked out of the store with the clerk's box, a Babe Ruth / Mickey Mantle / Roger Maris triple "Cut" Signature card was waiting for you in one of those packs. image

8 pack blaster boxes hit Target in Albany, NY. Bought 2 boxes that produced no light backs. Only 4 SPs but the packs were loaded with Then and Nows, Flashbacks, and I hit 3 Chromes plus RED INK AUTO BOB FELLER 11/56!!!! Very Happy with that.

The Red Ink Feller cards are starting to surface. I pulled one (17/56) from a wal-mart blister pack. Four have sold recently on the Bay averaging $86 plus shipping. I've actually posted mine for sale on the BST board if anyone would like to have it before it goes on the Bay.

Joe Stalin: You might not actually hate etopps as much anymore.

In their rewards catalog they have been using merchandise for several months now, for the past month that merchandise selection has contained 05 Heritage Boxes, the best part is that etopps only values the boxes at 54.99 so it's actualyl a very good deal when using your reward points. I've been doing this to help put my set together.

etopps has gone the way of the carboard. I thought you all were standing up against that? Autographed etopps? Giving away wax??

Isn't this the very same reason why you joined etopps..to avoid this "garbage" Of course you know in the real world no one will pay
you 300 bucks for a Tony Banks card....actually you won't get 3 bucks for it!

Etopps is dead and we all know it, NOTHING is worth squat and you know it, topps is reaching far to try to come up with new ideas
and this curent events thing is really stupid..btw...oh an nice way to cash in on the death of Carson. <puke>

Topps is just trying to get you all hooked on cardboard...and you all will, you are weak.

Thanks for stopping by...see you in another 3000 miles

Well the topps chronicles thing isnt an etopps thing by the way, its a topps thing, the same compnay that you love and support. Etopps is dead huh? With the alrge amount of new members and significant financial gains my port has made in the past 15 months I will disagree with you on that. Everyone knows how pissed you still are when you made a poor decision and sold Ronin your port.

Hate etopps all you want, hell if I was a die hard cardboard collector I would do the same, but I'm not. I only collect heritage sets and vintage so etopps is a way for me to make a decent amount of money as opposed to the majority of people who buy a lot of cardboard and end up not even getting their money back after 2 years since we all know msot products decline.

isnt an etopps thing?? ahhh, the same monkeys running etopps are the same running topps! Heritage has survived because it
is unchanged. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to follow the configuration of a set you printed up 49 years ago! 2001 heritage
was an amazing set, far more than what is expected from a pack of cards that cost 3 bucks, but topps is just following a cookie
cutter mold here. Heck they even wanted to skip the 53 set back in 2002 but got smart and asked collectors what they
    thought!

As far as etopps, you all now stand for nothing. This was supposed to be the answer to high pack prices, and needless inserts and
autographs. Now you are all lining up to get cards autographed and looking to cash in your reward points for carboard......and the
inserts and autos that come with them!

Ronin is the proud owner of 23-2001 Shinjo's, that combined are not even worth the price I paid for one card. Ronin won't tell you
that because he is too proud. He wants you all to believe that he got a good deal but the fact is he did not. Remember I bought cards
of good players, and we both know that those are the least valuable of the etopps. I thank Ronin for bailing me out, I can't imagine
running 80 or so auctions to sell everything. He offered me an easy way out and I took it and wouldn't do anything differently. Im sure
if you asked him wether it was a wise move he would say no...of course he won't admit that.

    and what if??

and what if etopps came out in 2000 like it was now? no greed, low print runs no matter what, rewards. I have no doubt that it would be huge.
It might of completly displaced cardboard collecting..but no, topps got greedy and you all got greedy. It was never about the player on
the front of the card...heck it wasn't even about the card..it didn't matter, it was only about the number....lesson learned...you can't
produce rarity today. Etopps is a joke and always will be. The heyday has long past, the curtain has been drawn, please take your
place next to beanie baby collector, and pokemon collector. Feel free to trade your Tony Banks and Vernon Wells for Charzard and
    Ruffles.

You are here not because you have everything you want, but because something is missing. That something you won't find on a computer
screen. You must have it and touch it and smell it, and own it! Is it about the gum or the short prints or the hard to complete new age set? its
about all those things. etopps has none of that, just a bunch of rich business men, washed up from the stock market, ready to manipulate
ebay so it looks like they are winners instead of the losers we all know you are.

Take your imaginary portfolios and leave, there is no room here for you. Ernie Banks has died and has come back as the most beautiful
heritage card you have ever seen.....complete with ink and a piece of wood that maybe Babe Ruth touched!

    Good Day
    Heritage Collector

Well, just saw this auction for a lot of Heritage SP's. Judging from the picture though, none of these cards are actually SP's.

So far, I've finished off a case (I guess?) of booster/blister/blaster boxes from my friendly neighborhood TRU. No autos, no refractors, 4 or 5 lightbacks out of 8 boxes. Banks GU seat and a Manny bat, but the SPs have been pretty good. 1 booster from Target, and results were similar. I love the cards though - they look great. Seems like the auto is always in that next pack...

I was lookin on beckett.com to check for sp's from a few new blaster boxes I bought. Of course I pulled nothing great, but I did pull a clubhouse collection bat card of Alfonso Soriano. Nothing impressive I think, but it states:
    GROUP A ODDS 1:291 H, 1:292 R
    GROUP B ODDS 1:384 H, 1:387 R
    GROUP C ODDS 1:1303 H, 1:1307 R
    GROUP D ODDS 1:497 H, 1:499 R
    GROUP E ODDS 1:384 H, 1:387 R
He happens to be the only person in group c. I'm just curious if this is a mis-print on becketts part or if it really is a 1:1307 pull.

I think the odds are just higher because he is the ONLY player in that group. For example, since there are more players in broups A or B, the odds ofpulling that PARTICULAR player would be similar. I think. The Sorianos don't seem to be selling for a premium.

OK guys, I was having some reservations about putting this set together. I had a lot of fun doing it last year but it was a long journey. I bought a retail box at Target and I am hooked again. I just went through my '04 master set and remembered the fun of putting that together. I have an eight box case of '05's coming and will post needs/dupes after the break! I am looking forward to the trading.

    Hey Brent-

Good to see you back around these parts.

Here's a quick observation on the chromes. Anybody else noticing that some of them are bending themselves into a U as soon as you pull them from them pack? It seems like about half of them do this, while half are fine. Has this been a problem every year?

Out of the 5-6 blaster boxes and 2 retail boxes I've opened every single chrome I've got has had that "U" shape to it. No clue about the other years image

Is anyone else noticing a lot of dinged corners on SP's or whatever is the 7th card in a pack? I just sent in several lots of 25 cards each back to Topps for replacement today. I sure hope they send some nicer cards than what I got in packs.

I don't know if this is something to do with the sorting process or if it's just my normal bad luck in opening packs. This seems to be more prevalent in the retail boxes I've gotten than the hobby boxes. This set's a lot of fun to put together, but the distribution sure is quirky.

I assume you mean how they are handled when I look at them...Trust me, many are coming out of the pack this way...I'm super careful when handling all cards. I'm especially careful about opening the packs. Granted, I'm ultra-picky about corners, but I'm talking about cards coming out of the pack in PSA 6 or low-end PSA 7 condition due to corner dings.
