Norty was my male cat (his real name was Norton...his long time companion cat was Trixie...named after the Honeymooners couple). I had Trixie for 16 years and Norty for 20. I've never had anyone live with me for 20 years so I grew very attached to good old Norty. It's just my way of keeping his memory alive.

I had three of four guys ask me at the luncheon if I was 1954 because of my birth year. I told them no, I am 1954 because the two sets I collect are 1954 Wilson weiners and 1954 Dan Dees. I also wanted something short and easy to remember.

No, my name has nothing to do with being one tough doctor. It is actually the name of the creek I live on, although most folks would not consider it to be a creek since it's about 1,500 feet wide in front of my house (it empties into the Potomac about a mile upstream, and that this point the Potomac is about 2 1/2 miles wide).
"Machodoc" is an Indian name, although I have no idea what it means. And as the King said earlier, it is pronounced something like "Maa" "Choo" "Dk".
I also like it because upon first glance it usually confuses the crap out of people......
Good post....and very informative. My ID name is a tribute to the great Shoeless Joe Jackson. Just imagining that little kid that came up to Joe....seeing his hero of all time, being accused of throwing the 1919 World Series......almost begging, pleading with Joe to say it aint so. The 63 is for the 1963 Topps set I collect.

Back in college, about seven years ago, my friend Meghan hosted a white trash theme party. She knew I was experiencing a slight problem with the ladies. Everyone was slapped with a name tag as they entered the house. Her creative mind took off and RW was born. I became the joke of the party.
I remember people coming up to me months later asking, "Oh yeah you were RW at that party, what's your name?" Great!
The drought ended. Within a few years the domain was registered and the logo below was painted. Now, RW is the red-haired kid in the four poses below!
ALSO THE NEW LOGO ---I AM A GRADUATE AND ACTIVE BOOSTER AT FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY. I LIVE IN TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA, HOME OF THE FSU SEMINOLES GO NOLES
Back in 1998, my wife told me she had just signed us up for something called eBay. She picked the user name wolfbear after our two dogs Wolf and Bear. Of course, she has never used eBay to this day, but I've been hooked on it for the last 5 years.
The Patrick logo had something to do with FatCat's logo being Sponge Bob, but I can't remember what ...
In high school and college I was into the Doors (I still consider them one of my favorites and wish I hadn't missed the recent tour with Ian Astbury on vocals). Some of my friends began calling me the "Lizard King". Later, it was shortened to just "Lizard". Over the years I've kept up with the tradition - I have lizards all over my house (ceramic, wood carved, plastic, rubber, cloth, etc. ... even Beanie Babies™). In 1994 I created my first website and decided on the name: virtual + lizard = virtualizard - and left out the extra "L".
Like Spacktrack (Spacetrack), I regularly get responded to as "virtualized". I have always gotten a chuckle out of that as well.
Let's hear some of your ideas on what you thought members' names meant.
Here's a few of my observations/misconceptions:
ydsotter - I always assumed it was your name - Y. D. Sotter wabbitwax - I don't know why I hadn't figured it out, but I thought it was wabbit + wax - like wax as in unopened cards (one track mind I guess) wayne8348 - Actually, I thought that was about the trees - too obvious, I guess martindihigo - I knew who Martin Dihigo was, but I thought others might think it was a singer/band based on your logo. norty - I had no idea on this one - always thought it had something to do with "north" machodoc - Again, no idea - thought it was Latin, or something. ullr - ? Gave up on that one - thanks for the info.
I had been receiving threatening emails claiming that my user ID here was offensive - robebass.I contacted carol asking if I could change it to Rob Robbie Robert and the only one available was RobE.Funny that on ebay I never had anyone complain but some emails told me from here told me it was offensive.
My ebay ID is robebass Robert E - Esposito & I play the Bass guitar. My music friends called my Rob Bass because of the rap guy then it evolved into Robbie bass.
My ebay about me page tells the general stroy as well.
7th grade wood shop couldn't tell the difference between a t-square and a sliding bevel square teacher tagged me with T-Bevel and it evolved to t-bub by the 9th grade and has stuck in my hometown ever since. Buckwheat was my best friends nickname we always dreamed of opening a saloon called "BUCK&BUBS"
Should be familiar to anyone who has been in a biology class. Mitochondria- the structure within a living cell that harvests energy from nutrients with the help of oxygen, essientially the power plant of a cell.
I purchased two turtles 16 years ago to keep me company when I began medical school. I named the largest turtle (a suwanee cooter?) "Mitochondria" and the smaller one (false map turtle) "Golgi" [another cell structure]. Both turtles remained with me for the next 12 years! Mitochondria passed away 3 years ago while Golgi escaped out of his tank (in a yard) a year later. I remain fascinated with reptiles and in particular, turtles. Fortunately, there is no shortage of them here in Florida and I don't have to keep them captive to see them everyday.

You like the new album? I'm a big fan of everything they have put out. Most Deftones fans only like adrenaline and ATF. I've seen them three times in concert.
Funny while i think about it. My brother is in Denver for the Summer Sanitarium tour today. While i'm typing this he is probably witnessing the Deftones set. He is about an hour into the concert right about now.
Chino said "This is one of those albums itll take awhile for you to like, thats how all of the albums i love have been"......or something to that effect. i didnt like it the first time, but its grown on me.

I'm a huge deftones fan as well.........seen 'em a couple of times. I have all their albums and lots of live/bootleg material I was at a show in Grand Rapids at the VanAndel Arena when their equipment was stolen from their bus.
i would have gone to the Summer Sanitarium to see Mudvayne (killer live band) and the Deftones, but i didnt care to see Linkin Park or Bizkit. and dont even get me started in Metallica.
ive seen the Deftones probably 8 times live, second only to Pearl Jam and Pantera- around 12 times for each.
If you were from South Louisiana, you'd never have to ask. It relates to how Cajuns eat boiled crawfish. You "pinch da tail" to get the tail meat out, and, if you're really brave, you "suck da head," which is where the highly-seasoned fat is.
"Pinchdatail" was a much better alternative than "Suckdahead" if you catch my drift. A lot easier to explain to the non-Cajuns.

The 53Kid - Relates to my favorite set, 53 Topps. As you can tell by my logo which was lifted from the 53Topps Reese. And Kid because I still feel young at heart and figured I would be one of the younger collector's of the 53's. Besides we can't all start out as the King! You have to work you way up the ladder. Here is my proposed progression:

McAdoo-named after my favorite hometown player! Not too shabby either'since he is in theHOF.Got to see him play against Wilt and Jerry,Oscar and Alcindor(actually met these 2 after the game) and those great Knick teams, amongst, others.
I love NHL hockey fights, got many just fight video's. Nothing breaks up a boring game than a good fight. The crack down on fighting has hurt the game, now there are just way too many boring games in NHL. I used to breakdown and score every fight I would see in a notebook. My friends would always just call me the fight guy. During any given night during NHL season, I get calls if any of my buddies are catching a game and fight breaks out the phone rings. Drives the wife nuts.........
Glad to do this since some people seem to detect a nihilist, slacker vibe i.e.: Life Stinks. Au contraire
Bizarrely enough (given what's gone before) the name comes from a PUNK BAND I was in (one performance only - them and me) at college: Screaming John Wesley & The Liffeystynx. The name contains a number of extremely dull & obscure references but the main explanation is straightforward.
I was born & live in the city of Dublin, Ireland. We have a famous river running through the center, the Liffey. In the Seventies, the river smelt to high heaven at low tide. Hence the name.
I would quickly add that thanks to our celebrated Celtic Tiger economy of the nineties, nothing stinks around here anymore. Apart from the whiff of corrupt land re-zoning. Whoops, wasn't supposed to mention that ...
