I don't know what's going with Boston right now but over the past 10 days they've played pretty subpar, especially on the defensive end. Whether its dealing with a Finals hangover or the erratic scheduling around the In Season tourney or dealing with injuries (Jrue/Tingus Pingus/Hauser) they've now lost 4 of their last 6 games. They blew out the Pacers on Friday night then Indy came back two days later and decided to just take to the rim all game with no KP or Jrue out there, finishing with 66pts in the paint.
Boston plays Toronto tomorrow night at home then go on a tough four game road trip after the New Year with games at Minnesota, Houston, OKC & Denver,

"I don't know what's going with Boston right now but over the past 10 days they've played pretty subpar, especially on the defensive end"
Well they played pretty darn good on both sides of the ball. Won by 54!
Last time they played Toronto they gave up 76 points in the paint w/123 total, tonight it was just 71 total points.
Getting Jrue back after missing three games helped. When they're missing both Jrue and Porzingis they go from an elite defense to a pretty decent one but one that could get exploited at times and it has recently. I'm just hoping they're fully healthy come playoff time when these games actually matter.
Cleveland's road trip has gone pretty well with those two wins at Denver & GS, they're starting to build up a decent lead in the standings.
That Warriors team has been a real head scratcher right now, they started off 12-3 and have gone 4-13 since then. They've been banking on their younger players taking that next step in development and it just isn't happening quick enough to still contend with Steph.
@Steven59 said: Cavs so far so good on the West Coast swing! - 113 to 95 over Golden State tonight! 28-4!
I'm in disbelief about how the Cavs are playing, been on the roller coaster with the team ever since the early days with Bingoooooooo Smith, through the Mark Price/Brad Daugherty days and right to Lebron.
When they first started out I remember going to a few games at the Richfield Colosseum, seats were cheap and we could sit about 5-10 rows from the floor. In those days they had been nicknamed the Cleveland Cadavers.
The Washington Wizards have 6 wins this year. They are 6-2 when I use their opponent in a moneyline parlay. Just a heads up for Wizards fans... your team likely won't win another game for the rest of the season because I am absolutely NOT going to use their opponent a single time the rest of this year in a parlay! Just a public service announcement... lol.
Last year the Cavs lost to Boston - a few of the "Main Core" was hurt and didn't play. All the "Experts" said Bickerstaff didn't have the "Right players" to coach and wanted trades for the Cavs to improve. Well Luckily the ownership saw the only problem was the coach!

That would be very tough for GS to match Butler's 48M. It would take including 3-4 of their better rotation players and Andrew Wiggins 26M would need to be included, right now he's pretty much a better player than Butler.
Whichever team eventually makes that deal for Jimmy will probably end up regretting it in the long run.

Bickerstaff gets way more blame than should really be thrown his way. Yes, Kenny Atkinson is a better head coach who implemented a system he stole from GS who stole it from Greg Popovich's great Spurs teams but if you look at the major difference between the '23/24 & '24/25 Cavs teams after 33 games, its just health from their core four.
Games missed over the first 33 games of the 2023/24 season:
Mobley (12)
Mitchell (9)
Garland (13)
Allen (5)
Games missed over the first 33 games of the 2024/25 season:
Mobley (2)
Mitchell (1)
Garland (1)
Allen (0)
I haven't followed the Cavs close to know if those 4 total games missed this season are even injuries or not, those could just be scheduled rest days for all we know.
Again, Atkinson deserves credit for bringing more knowledge to Cleveland, he's a good deal older than Bickerstaff and however many years that he sat on the GS bench definitely has paid off but the Cavs main reason for their success is because their four All Star caliber players have all been healthy to this point. I know that some of the other Cavs rotation players have dealt with injuries this season but as Shaq would say, they're the "others."
Cleveland's success revolves around their top four guys and they've played fantastic to this point with health playing a huge part in that, we'll see if it holds up for them long term.
Huge game this afternoon between the Celtics & Thunder. These two were my preseason Finals prediction and that hasn't changed for me,
Hopefully this game lives up to the hype, hopefully Jaylen Brown can go for Boston after missing the two previous games with an injury.
OKC looks like a juggernaut right now after gaining their 15th win in a row and taking it to another level in that 2nd half holding the Celtics to just 27pts after halftime. Their confidence has to be sky high right now.
Good win for the C's last night to finish off a tough 4 game West coast road trip at 3-1. Credit to the Joker-less Nuggets for putting up a fight until the very end.
They have some really good young wings in Peyton Watson, Christian Braun & Julian Strawther that have length, can shoot and play hard on both ends. Its going to be interesting to see how their development goes while Jokic is still in his prime.
Weird side topic: During a TV timeout during that Bos/Den game the Nuggets had a $200 giveaway to a couple of fans if the Nuggets mascot, Rocky the Mountain Lion, could start at center court and climb all the way to the highest seat in the nose bleeds in under 75 seconds. Of course he made it and the fans got the $200 but the entire time while watching his race, all I could think of was what if this numbskull falls from the balcony and injures himself its arguably one of the dumbest stadium giveaways that I've ever seen.
I couldn't find last night's exact climb but this is one from a few years back. While searching for this video I came across other clips where he talked about his brush with death during one of these stunts lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGFouQlMIIs
I had the game on but with the volume down until that final 4-5mins and that meeting definitely lived up to the hype with a playoff type atmosphere. Hats off to the Cavs especially with their rebounding late. I don't remember who was at the line (Allen or Mobley I think) but the Cavs managed to get the offensive board after a miss then had another one same possession then had that call overturned and that was pretty much the game.
What's that, 11 games in a row now on top of their 15 game streak earlier in the season? They've really been playing phenomenal this year.
Steven are you a cards or coins guy? If cards, i'm just curious on how prices have been on their top 4 players cards when the team is playing like it has.

Age has caught up with their vets (Curry/Dray) and their younger players aren't developing fast enough to help contend while Steph still plays at a high level.
For some reason I thought this game was a 10pm start here on the east coast and missed it entirely, luckily I was able to catch the replay. Good start for the C's on this 4 game WC road trip.
Here's a hint on how dumb most younger NBA fans are these days: Last night I was scrolling thru random crap on Instagram and see a post saying that OKC's guard Lu Dort just passed Larry Bird on the NBA's career 3pt FGs made list and roughly 90% of the comments (which were well over a 100) were saying how much of a better player that Dort is over Bird lol. Morons. 😂
ok i've gotta ask. i don't watch much NBA these days (that might change when the playoffs hit.......or it might not), but i do catch the scores.
in the past couple of weeks i've noticed the C's getting blown out at home by the Kings, beating the terrible Pelicans by 1 point at home, getting blown out by the awful Raptors, losing to the .500 Hawks, and then last night getting blown out again by the Lakers. i checked the box score and it appears they had everyone, including Porzingis.
Maybe the Celtics have contracted whatever ails the Warriors (started out 12-3; and since then have gone 10-19).
The NBA regular season is a long grind and maintaining excellence throughout the 82 games is very difficult to do. Injuries, roster changes, mental ups and downs of individual players, inexperience of younger players, etc. come up during the regular season and contribute to teams playing bad stretches of basketball.
Me thinks the Celtics will end the regular season with a great record and in the top 2 of the Eastern Conference.

Morons. 😂

@erikthredd
ok i've gotta ask. i don't watch much NBA these days (that might change when the playoffs hit.......or it might not), but i do catch the scores.
in the past couple of weeks i've noticed the C's getting blown out at home by the Kings, beating the terrible Pelicans by 1 point at home, getting blown out by the awful Raptors, losing to the .500 Hawks, and then last night getting blown out again by the Lakers. i checked the box score and it appears they had everyone, including Porzingis.
what is going on with them?

Maybe the Celtics have contracted whatever ails the Warriors (started out 12-3; and since then have gone 10-19).
The NBA regular season is a long grind and maintaining excellence throughout the 82 games is very difficult to do. Injuries, roster changes, mental ups and downs of individual players, inexperience of younger players, etc. come up during the regular season and contribute to teams playing bad stretches of basketball.
Me thinks the Celtics will end the regular season with a great record and in the top 2 of the Eastern Conference.
