thru 7 he is shooting the ball very poorly and that doesn't make me happy
i expected just the opposite out of the gate with Chris Paul setting the table for him
93% from the charity stripe, however
I wouldn't worry about that too much. He's only 20, just starting year 2 and on a bad team with no other all star caliber talent, right now the team's still in that learning stage with seeing how his game develops. The coaching staff is probably going to give him more freedom on offense and he's probably more comfortable this time around to try doing more.
If he's still shooting 22% from three in January then maybe I'd start worrying about it a little, at least for this season, but its still early right now.
I think as he spends more time with CP3, his shot selection will improve especially inside the three point line. He'll eventually learn that instead of taking 18-20 footers to just get inside 15' where he's one drop step away from dunking the ball.
It hasn't really clicked for him yet, that with his height he could really dominate on offense if he just stays disciplined enough. He'll also need to improve his handle to the point where he's able to continually blow by defenders then really be able to use his height within 6-8 feet of the rim. This all comes with more practice and repetition.
I kind of want to see SA tank another year similar to how I've been wanting with the Pats this season.
These are the picks that the Spurs own/could own for this next draft:
Spurs own
Hawks 1st - no protections
Bulls 1st - protected 1-10
Hornets 1st - protected 1-14
They'll have at least two guaranteed shots at the #1 overall pick and Atlanta just drafted 1st overall in this past draft. Regardless of where Flagg ends up, SA should come out of this draft with multiple building block caliber players.
edit: it would be pretty crazy to see a couple teams like Milwaukee or Philly end up in the lottery and one lands the pick for Cooper Flagg. a tandem with Giannis or Embiid would be pretty interesting.
Good hard fought win by the Dubs tonight, this had a playoff game atmosphere right from the start. Boston will now have to wait until 1/20 to try returning the favor at GS.
GSW this year is very deep, talented and very good offensively and defensively. So far the players have meshed and seem to be ok with limited minutes. The team is playing 12 and even 13 players on a regular basis.
GSW this year is very deep, talented and very good offensively and defensively. So far the players have meshed and seem to be ok with limited minutes. The team is playing 12 and even 13 players on a regular basis.
Next up for GSW is Cleveland, OKC and Dallas.
Those two b2b offensive rebound putbacks by Looney in the final 90ish seconds were brutal and it was pretty much over once Hield hit that three soon after. The team as a whole looked really good especially their defense. I keep seeing new assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse getting a lot of credit for some of their schemes on that end.
Its a shame that that Cavs/Dubs game on Friday night starts the same time as the Celtics one does, I'd like to catch that one too.
Christian Braun was 7-9 from the field, 3-4 from la la land for an efficient 21 points in the nuggets win.
Nice to see he’s taking full advantage of being in the starting lineup and showing he’s deserving of it.

Congrats on the Boston comeback tonight!
It looked like Boston was going to get blown off the court to early in that game but it ended up being pretty competitive in the second half.
I didn't know this until yesterday but BOS & CLE are both in the same In Season Tournament group and that 11/19 meeting is one of the IST games. That's going to be a fun game where both teams will be looking to run the score up as much as possible because tiebreakers are decided on team's total points at the end of group play.
That's a horrible break for OKC, they're now down their top three bigs in Chet, Isaiah Hartenstein & Jaylin Williams. They at least have the luxury to be able to trade off a 1st or two for another big man without it really hurting their draft stash. Utah's Walker Kessler would be a hell of a pickup for those two 1sts.

At this point they're just waiting for [Giannis to ask out]."

With the Cavs: I wonder what new Coach Kenny Atkinson is doing differently then JB Bickerstaff did? It's essentially the same team.............minus Struss from injury this year, and Ty Jerome was injured last year but is playing very well this year.

The Bucks problem has been that they don't have a legit 3rd scorer that helps the offense when one/both of Giannis & Dame are off the floor. Khris Middleton is supposed to be that guy but he's pretty much cooked at this point and his career is all but over, the main issue there is he's making 30+m and hasn't played a single game yet after offseason surgeries on both ankles. When he gets back he'll likely be a shell of his former self so its not like the Bucks could turn his contract into two decent role players. They still owe him for this year and next.

I preface this by saying its mainly what I've read from Cavs fans & some media online and I really haven't caught any of their games yet but a lot of the credit for the team's offensive success should go to Donovan Mitchell for finally empowering his teammates more on that end. I don't know if his FG attempts are done or not but it seems like everyone has been getting involved. Health and the change to Atkinson definitely deserve credit too, hopefully Boston ends their win streak next week. 😉
All I'll say on Giannis asking out is, he's a different kind of dude, a real loyal type, and I honestly don't see him jumping ship so soon like the major NBA media keeps depicting. I think that there's a better chance that Dame Lillard gets moved to any
from this group of teams...
Miami
Orlando
Philly
Denver
Clippers
Rockets
maybe even one of Suns, Lakers or Dubs.
Dame would bring back a decent package that could retool the Bucks roster a bit.
If not Dame then they still have some other decent trade chips in Lopez, Portis, Trent Jr.
@erikthredd - hopefully Boston ends their win streak next week. 😉
Well it can't go on forever - rather it be Boston then a let down with a bad team!
Tonight's game vs Chicago was closer all game than it seemed! I'm beginning to get worried they are slacking the defense because they are just thinking they can out score the challenger - that will eventually come up to bite them in the ass,!

Unless they drop off significantly and some other team than Boston jumps into that top two, they’re almost certainly going to finish with a top two seed. Can’t ask for more than that other than maybe health. They’re good enough now where they may not going on any extended losing streaks (3 or more games.)
This may end up being a down year for East teams where the current 3rd place team, Indy, is sitting at .500 after ten games, that Pacers team would be sitting in 11th place if they were in the West lol.

@Darin, I say when Bickerstaff was coach he really didn't serve a specific purpose. Now he's filling a role of taking up space on the floor and to play some defense. He's never been a scorer, averaging around 6 points a game, but does come up with a big game every now and then, plus at 6'9" he helps with rebounding.

Thanks Steven, I hope the Cavs keep rolling this year.
Would the Cleveland Cavs of 2024-2025 welcome another return of LeBron James to where he started as the final stop in his long career?
Or would the franchise decline a Return Of The King?
If LBJ did return to the Cavs for his swan song would he take over and control everything the franchise does; or would he defer to the authority of others and follow marching orders given to him?
Toronto almost stole one in Boston tonight, it seems like every team on the schedule, including the bad ones, are getting up for these Celtics games and are playing much tougher than expected. Tatum had a chance to win it in regulation but he missed an open 18 footer, then in OT he drains one from 30 feet at the buzzer to end it.
Hopefully Cavs aren't looking past the Hornets tonight and towards the Celtics on Tuesday, Mitchell not playing tonight.
An amazing shot for Tatum last night!

I think as he spends more time with CP3, his shot selection will improve especially inside the three point line. He'll eventually learn that instead of taking 18-20 footers to just get inside 15' where he's one drop step away from dunking the ball.
