The highest pre series promoted stars pair ,Judge,Ohtani have not been relevant. Many times it seems the underated players come through when you least expect it.

Ohtani had a huge game one double and got to third on a bad throw to the infield. He scored the tying run. He’s been a lot more relevant than judge.

Judge is doing great working counts to 3 strikes.

That might be true, but Ohtani has done much better than judge.

    OBP- Ohtani .403 Judge .280
    OPS. Ohtani. .863. Judge .605

And like I said Shohei was the player who stepped up in game 1 and got the game tied in the late innings (7th or 8th) and then they won it on freeman’s slam in the ninth.

With this type of injury what do you think his effectiveness will be in batting?

I'm also curious whether it's going to affect his swing. My guess is that it will impact him less being a LH batter. I had a minor variety of this injury once and it was very unpleasant to twist my torso for a couple months. The cortisone shots might only be like 10 seconds of pain each, but those were the worst I've ever had.

  • Basebal21Basebal21 Posts: 3,448 ✭✭✭✭✭

Despite the snarky comment the only answer is that the only ones that know are Othani and the Dodgers. All we know for sure is that it was serious enough for him to leave the game which wasnt precautionary.

Hes testing it out tonight and the Dodgers are saying its about his pain tolerance. Not a great sign but not the worst.

Judge has been horrible which you can't really put on Boone

My answer to all teams that look to fire a manager / coach, who are you going to replace them with that would make them better.

Boones contract ends when the WS ends. Yankees have an option on it for next year if they want to. Reports seem to be that theyll extend him. Im not a Boone guy but Mr May Aaron Judge disappears in the post season.

  • bgrbgr Posts: 1,704 ✭✭✭✭✭

Mr May is a total exaggeration. But you’re right he’s been terrible in the postseason. With the exception of 2017. He’s probably putting too much pressure on himself but he’s got time left to make a postseason statement. You shouldn’t debase his contribution to the success of the Yankees with such a trite remark if you want your comment to be taken seriously. Just focus on the truth rather than the hyperbolic, and nonsensical, headline. It’s just so over the top.

Lol. Judge is significantly better in May in than any other month in his career. That nickname has been building for a few years and certainly wasnt started by me. Since 2019 the more games he plays in the post season the worse his numbers get

And none of this contradicts what I said. As per usual. I get it. He’s been bad in the postseason. Mr May though? He had a historic month of May. The rest were pretty good too.

    Dodgers take all !!!

    October 4th, 2024 prediction.

    October 28th LA DODGERS 3 ... NY YANKEES 0

I predicted in 5 so NYY may be given game 4 .lololol

I like Judge overall ( not so much in post season ) about the only thing about the NYY I do like.
Out of 14 categories he leads Ohtani in one: SB 1 vs. 0 .. but even that could change. hehehe

I thought Amsinger and Plesac were going to come to blows after the game yesterday. The question was….. would you rather have a 2-0 series lead and Ohtani is out the rest of the series or the series tied 1-1 but Ohtani is healthy the rest of the series. Plesac says take the 2-0 lead, Amsinger says hell no take the tied series and have Ohtani playing. Pretty heated argument they had.
Of course all hypothetical but I say take the 2-0 lead and go without Ohtani. When Teoscar Hernandez is probably your 4th best hitter and Kike is a proven postseason clutch player you should have plenty of offense. Teoscar is a beast and on some teams would be the best hitter.

    Forget any hypothetical thought.

    Talk realistically YANKEE's .. S ^ * K ... J/K lololololololol.

I think we all know that power hitters in general go on streaks. But I don't recall a player of such high caliber as Aaron Judge ever having as dismal of a World Series as this.

  • countdouglascountdouglas Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭✭✭

    2 things:

    1) The "experts" on here have told us over and over that strikeouts just don't matter.

    2) The "experts" have also drilled home the point that small sample sizes don't matter, either. It is only once Aaron Judge is able to consistently strike out in the clutch during regular season games that he will finally be acknowledged as one of the greatest to ever do it like ol' Trouty.

If memory serves, both Arod and Bonds had some terrible playoff performances. I know that Bonds redeemed himself in the 02 playoffs and had a crazy WS that season. I cant remember if Arod ever came through big in the playoffs though.

I remember the !995 playoffs for the Red Sox against Cleveland.

Mo Vaughn and Jose Canseco were atrocious and couldn't get a hit

    Jose Canseco 0 for 13
    Mo Vaughn 0-14

    Disgusting

Career in May he hits 31 points higher than his second best month which is June. He slugs just shy of 100 points higher than his second best month. He batting average, slug, on base, hr to ab ration etc are all their highest in May and some of them like the slug the next best isnt that close

These are all career numbers not just a single season. The nickname started gaining traction around 2021 and he really hasnt done anything to disprove it since then

I don't care for either team, but since one has to win, I suppose it's the Dodgers.

Did anyone see the tape of the Yankee fan pulling the ball out of the Dodgers' right fielder's glove last night? it was quite blatant. The umpire called the batter out and the fan was ejected as well he should have been.

He is going to tomorrow's game I was told as well

Guys at work were talking about it, no. idea how accurate any of what they said is or not

If that type of interference was in Fenway or Gillette the fan would be banned for life I bet
