@DeplorableDan
You and I have never met nor have we even PM'd on the board. By your post it's not hard to figure out that you are a well advanced collector. I want to praise you for that you treat novice, beginners, devoted, long time, etc. collectors as an equal to you. You are courteous to everyone and answer even the most basic questions for novice/beginner collectors with respect. I wish there was more people like you on this board. Many could learn numismatic etiquette from you.
Thank you so much for your contributions to this board.

Here! Here!
Dan was the first forum member I ever met in person. Definitely a stand up guy!
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
He's a prince. You might enjoy him over on Instagram too.

Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )
Ditto!
When I saw the thread title, I told myself that I’d be very safe agreeing, sight-unseen, with whatever was written in the opening post. And after having read it, sure enough, I do!

I second the motion
I concur. With the temperament that he shows here why is he 'deplorable'? Oh well, he's The Dude.
Wow, I'm not sure what prompted this but thank you @MWallace! I am flattered, honored even, to see that many of you hold my name in such high regard.
Just 4 years ago, I came to the forum as an inexperienced novice looking to learn more. Here's a link to my very first thread. Comments from grizzled veterans such as @MFeld, @TomB, @BillJones, and @ricko, began to shape my knowledge without taking the wind out of my sails. It's always been an aspiration of mine to be like them and be able to give my knowledge back to the forum, the same way it was so freely given to me.
The members of this forum were instrumental in my growth as a numismatist, and I'm eternally grateful for everyone who spends their time here participating meaningfully. Cheers, to the past four years, and many many more! 🥂

We should all aspire to be more like Dan! I know I, for one, fall far short.
This forum is a microcosm of the world around us.
You have to get sludge through this:
to finally be rewarded and get to this:

Are you trying to say @DeplorableDan isn't so deplorable?
I have had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times and I tend to agree with the OP...not so deplorable after all.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Bravo DD!
And shameless plug for any of you who were not aware, but Dan recently launched his own numismatic firm, Peak Rarities! You can check out some of the most deplorable coins out there at https://peakrarities.com/ -- some of them are incredibly jaw dropping.
And now, back to the praise.
You've come a long way, Dan! Enjoyed reading that link down memory lane.

Not only are all of the traits mentioned above true and important, but a less important observation (but so nice) is how well written DD’s comments ALWAYS are, without exception! Very impressive! I’m very fortunate to consider Dan a friend!

I agree! Why Deplorable? Because Despicable Dan sounds too much like a movie character and Diabolical Dan might have been too strong, but had he come to our boards as Dazzling Dan or Deserving Dan, we might have thought he had a chip on his shoulder!! Deplorable Dan seems perfect- he can comment honorably or refute with the best of them, after all, he is deplorable~
Maybe he's a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. DelightfulDan and DeplorableDan.
Agree here.
Shares knowledge, answers questions, has opinions but engages civilly. Appreciates history.

Nothing but praise for Dan.
Deplorable? It sounds better than Adorable.

DD is going to be a numismatic force moving forward (assuming he pursues this direction in his life) but the most striking thing is his age. Most of us on the forum are at least twice as old as him. DD is very articulate, passionate, he makes people feel comfortable, and he comes across as an all around good guy.
Dan is a great guy for sure, helping anyone out that asks.
I have nothing, but praise and admiration for him.

And unlike a couple of others, he has never looked like you hold a Pop-Tart upside down and proceed to complain they put the frosting on the wrong side.

AND, he's a young guy to have such overall balance and numismatic wisdom. Us old guys wish we were as sharp as he is at that age.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
hey the fact that you are not sure what prompted this says much!
I concur with all the flattery here, and you rightfully deserve it.
Be well, stay you!
Cheers
He's a great guy.

@DeplorableDan —
DanDorado when the need arises.
That’s a good picture of you Jeff.
Yes Dan is the man with the plan. He even came to see me when I was in the forum can.
I’m so old Dan had to tell me the source of his photo/avatar whatsis.
I met Dan in person for the first time at Winter FUN 2023, and I was shocked he did not look like his photo/avatar. He then told me the source.

He's an asset to the hobby, no question about it.
Deplorable Dan's keyboard doesn’t have a CTRL key. Dan is always in control.
His keyboard also doesn’t have an escape key.
Deplorable Dan counted to infinity…twice.
Deplorable Dan didn’t dial the wrong number.
You answered the wrong phone.
Deplorable Dan makes onions cry.
When Deplorable Dan was born, he drove his mom from the hospital.
Deplorable Dan worked as a lumberjack in a forest named Sahara.
And finally,
Deplorable Dan once went to a feminist rally. He returned with 3 ironed shirts and a sandwich.

I think appreciation of The Great Lebowski is a male generational thing Steve.
Make that “Big”.
A couple of people mention his young age so I have to ask, how old is he?
@DeplorableDan Now I'm curious too. And please explain the avatar?? Is it you? Is that a cup of milk??
When he was born the doctor spanked his mom ……..😂

I predict that all of this well deserved praise will result in a change in the name of Dan's business from "Peak Rarities" to "Deplorable Dan's Deplorable Coins".

Perfect meme (all in good fun).
Wow, what a wonderful compliment from a fellow board member. From the comments that followed, I’d say “Dan” is the gold standard for our community. Well done sir, and well deserved!
Your kindness and patience to others is appreciated.
