Count- my reaction after that completion was very similar to Mahomes! 🥳

I have a decision about the SB to make. Through the course of the season I made a few small wagers on KC to win the Super Bowl even as they were struggling. So I have $120 wagered to return $1070 if they win. So the smart thing to do is hedge and bet $300-400 on SF to guarantee a profit whoever wins.
But then at the casino I noticed SF is at -2 to win. And I kind of got pissed. Almost bet on KC +2 to win because the Chiefs just beat the Dolphins, Bills and Ravens and they’re defending SB champs and still can’t get any respect.
Well at least I have some time to decide if I want to hedge.

I have a $50 wager at +600 on a Chiefs Super Bowl victory that I made in September through a promotion that would kick back a $5 free bet for every Chiefs regular season victory, up to 10 wins/$50 total. I wasn't able to turn every $5 free bet into a winner, but I won enough from the bets that I did win to get almost $70 back, so I'm already ahead no matter what.

I, too, was going to at least hedge something against the $350 payout. I almost placed a bet when the moneyline was SF -115, but didn't. Next thing, it's -120. Then -125, -128, and now -130. Now, I'm thinking just like you. Forget hedging. I'm almost of the mindset that it's time to lay more money on the Chiefs.

I have a $100 to win $1000 futures on the 9ers. (See my futures post) as I had SF for conference, division etc.
The Chiefs money line is even money, not a very inspiring line to bet. The -2 is more attractive to hedge as if it’s 28-27 9ers I can win both. Still got plenty of time to decide but leaning on $200-300 on KC -2 or just $100 on them to just get my money back. Actually a pretty good situation, like yours to be in.

I am going to say this as shortly and as sweetly as I can - I'm seeing a lot of chatter about the NFL being rigged or scripted - but strangely, the betting lines haven't reflected this.🤷🏻‍♂️

Instead of whining on TV and radio and social media incessantly about it, if you really "know this to be true", you would keep this information to yourself, bet the farm, bet the house, bet the firstborn, and LOVE IT every time the Chiefs win.

    Chiefs on 3... 1-2-3...

    CHIIIEEEEEFFFFFFFFSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fully expect by the end of the day that we'll be hearing about some anonymous whale wagering $83.3 million on the Chiefs moneyline at +100.

@Darin, I never said Lamar Jackson was the GOAT but @perkdog has me stated as saying that, so I thought that’s just what we did here, make stuff up.

Well if you can point out where I said Lamar Sucks you could have a point but you just like throwing little barbs at people then get butthurt when someone fires back.

@perkdog, in another thread you replied “the shorter version is he sucked pure and simple” or something to that effect. Is it really worth arguing about? I made the post about different members think because you misquoted me and I thought it would be funny to point out some of our emotion to the game, prompted by what @Sanction had posted.

It probably would have been much simpler to PM about it but so many members seem to choose not to use that function anymore. To be honest, I don’t think anyone here has much of a sense of humor, it’s as though members figure they are right all the time. I’ve come to realize I’m just as full of shit as the next guy, as you are. Don’t take things so personally and PM if there’s a misunderstanding.

Quote today in ESPN from the best hockey player on the planet, Connor McDavid:

"Who is your current favorite non-hockey athlete to watch?

My favorite current non-hockey athlete ... I'm gonna go with a fellow Body Armor guy in Christian McCaffrey right now [McDavid has also partnered with sports drink Body Armor]. Going to the Super Bowl. The guy's on fire. He had an absolutely amazing year. I was watching the game the other day. He scored a touchdown and the announcer said, "Death, taxes and Christian McCaffrey scoring a touchdown are the only guarantees."

Fair enough, but I didn't say Lamar Sucked meaning he sucks as a QB overall, I clearly stated he deserved the MVP and was a great QB but he Sucked in the AFC Championship game.

I thought Brady sucked in a few Super Bowls and other playoff games over his career and I absolutely believe he is the GOAT

Also if you noticed when I posted about you saying Lamar was the GOAT I put a 💥 next to it so I figured you of all people with the biggest sense of humor would have took that as I was joking with you.

No need to PM when we are having a fun debate, if you took it as any other way then my apologies, I enjoy going back and forth with you as anyone else.

I clearly stated I would buy everyone here a beer, that includes you and like a few other guys if you prefer a root beer instead I will accommodate that

I was a QB and then WR, when an actual stud QB showed up. So I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Goff's throw wasn't that good. No excuse not to catch it, mind you, but any QB would tell you the throw could have been better.

As for the links you posted, I will bite, though I will notice not a peep has been made from the "Detroit goes for it all the time on 4th & 3 or less crowd" about Johnson shriveling up and kicking the FG at the end of the 1st half when his team was rocking the 49ers defense and only 2 1/2 yards away from going up 28-0...

    1)

we have been arguing this. Yes it was a drop, yes it wasn't a great throw, but I have seen just as egregious drops on 4th downs before which argues for kicking the field goal to go up 3 scores with only a quarter and a half to go.

    2)

another drop and certainly didn't help their cause. However, we see drives end all the time with drops, penalties, bad QB decisions, etc.

    3)

the ref threw a flag so the actual result of the play was irrelevant. The 49ers were going to get the ball goal to go regardless of whether the defender intercepted the ball, knocked it down, or let it hit him in the face mask & chest and pop up into Aiyuk's arms. It is funny that people think the catch actually mattered when PI was being called anyway. So not really clear why this play would even be added to the list, DBs get called for PI on long pass plays all the time.

    4)

this one hurt but the game was tied at that point. The 49ers still had to drive 60+ yards for their field goal even after the touchback.

    5)

turnovers suck but they are a part of the game. Not sure it was really any worse than the duck Purdy threw that got intercepted by the Lions and turned into a TD.

I see you forgot to add this to the highlight reel:

https://www.nfl.com/news/dan-campbell-admits-error-on-lions-third-and-goal-run-burnt-timeout-in-final-possession-of-loss-to-49ers#:~:text=Regardless of what you think, called the Lions' first timeout.

The coaches made mistakes too during that game, losing was a joint effort but the coaches didn't do a great job of putting the Lions in the best place to win the game. We will see if he learns from them. Are there any uber aggressive 4th down coaches that last 5+ seasons? I know Harbaugh from the Ravens had a phase where he went for it all the time on 4th down but he has smartened up. Pederson did it for the Eagles and got fired eventually, I don't think he has been as aggressive with the Jaguars based on the games I have seen but that could a factor of the right scenarios not coming up for him.

I agree with Maywood that we are full of doo-doo when it comes to posting about sports, including football. Emotion is a big part of the sports experience (for athletes, coaches and fans) and many times emotions manifest themselves in........................., shall I say "interesting ways".

Including banter back and forth in Sports Talk Forum threads.

There was no flag on the play. The flag was picked up

There was a flag on the play, they picked it up because it was irrelevant since Aiyuk made the catch. No chance they choose to pick up the flag if Aiyuk hadn't caught it.

Flags dont get picked up because its irrelevant. They get picked up because it wasnt a penalty and was a bad flag that other refs disagree with

Thats just saying refs are corrupt. Countless meaningless flags that the penalty gets denied dont get picked up

It's interesting, it seems like only yesterday I was playfully teasing my wife in the leadup to the 2019 AFC Championship Game how sick everyone outside of New England was of the Patriots (they have gone to the Super Bowl four out of the past five times at this point) and what a refreshing change of pace it'd be for someone else to take the AFC pennant for a change! Now all of a sudden, it's the Chefs who have now gone to the Big Game four out of five times and now most everyone outside the KC area is sick of them!
