Unexpected Completion: 1839 Mint Set

I like to put together mint sets as part of a larger type set, but I never actually thought I would actually complete an 1839 set with varieties:

    Very nice small letters half, details though it is. Considering its rarity I'm surprised it's considered part of this set.

    The small letters half is certainly the coin I never expected to get, and in hindsight I think I'm lucky it is details graded. A few months before I got it I tried bidding on a straight-graded sample, but found myself in an unwinnable bidding war.
