That's another forum All Star!
I just noticed the reeded edge for the first time though...
What gives??
The reeded edge makes it that much cooler. And if the owner knew what he had, an easy way NOT to accidentally spend it.
But then ...
Owner, smuggling his opium by train through Tennessee; It's just my change sir
Sharp eyed investigator @Pnies20 ; Not so fast there young man. Let me see that one. Yeah, that one. The one with the reeded edge. I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday you know.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
The reeded edge DOES make it that much cooler!
But I'm still wondering what's going on?? For one thing, that edge looks about twice as thick as a capped bust edge...
And I know there is some pretty good home made reeding out there, but this one's over and beyond!

Dan, Dan, Dan... you know you're talking to a Master Debater here, right?
😬
I didn't raise the question nor entertain debate. Dan is the one who raised the question and suggested it was debatable. But carry on with your undamaged coins with their original surfaces...I don't feel the need to argue the point.
The original comment was tongue-in-cheek, in a thread meant to celebrate altered coins. Most folks who click on this thread probably understood the context and the comment. But then again, most folks don't feel the need to drop into every single thread and drop some worthless two cents. I make this post at the risk of further derailing a cool thread, but in hopes that less derailing of threads may occur going forward.
General advice for life to anyone who might be reading this - Don't be a pest.
Then take your own advice and don't pest-er me. Perhaps I missed your tongue in cheek. Text lacks intonation and vocal nuance. However, "no, it's damage" hardly merits a response much less insults. And that comment would be on point, not "derailing" if you post the question, tongue in cheek or not.
I will endeavor to continue to entertain you with my worthwhile three cents.

Freeze buster. Oh wait it’s lunch time. Go on ahead buddy..
While I was digging around for that last bunch of coins, I found a holed
CC 8 reales in the drawer...
So here we have some post mint damage to a coin that was "minted" outside the mint 🤔
As per many of my favorite holed coins, I'm pretty sure this one was worn by a pirate... how else would the coin, and the hole, get worn slick if not around the neck of a buccaneer?
@jayPem said: @ChopmarkedTrades, I think you mentioned that you have a thing for coins with both chopmarks and counterstamps... love to see a few!
Here are mine.
Yup, big fan. Those are really interesting combos, I particularly like the stamp, host, and look of the first one.
That's one that Dan cut loose awhile ago, I like the chops right on the stamp!
At least one ot the Geo III stamps appears to be a contemporary counterfeit stamp to my eye, but its difficult to know for sure with these.

Was given to me as a gift because i love the movie ALIENS. I think it fits under the hobo nickel category?
Sort of.
However, i suspect that this one was not carved on a genuine Morgan Dollar.
It is likely that it was struck that way on a non-silver blank (possibly in China).
I agree as to the claw being either even of above the star, where did the metal come from.

Hi Dan,
Glad you still appreciate that coin. It’s one of those special ones that folks remember. And, it feels good that it’s in a good home.
