Your opinion on this Peace dollar toning

I find myself unable to turn away.
I am unsure if that is a good or bad thing.
Your thoughts?

“MONSTER CHEETAH TONING L@@K”
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
I think it's interesting. Not enough to want to buy it, but I can see how somebody else might.
It's a bad thing...

it definitely catches my eye, but not really in a good way

Kinda reminds me of '70's era animal print satin bed sheets or pillow cases.
I like it.
Definitely not for me.

It's a very bad thing!

Only because you asked: awful.
Ugly to me, MHO.
It's unusual. I would not recommend paying 65+ money or much of a toner premium but can see it being an interesting piece to add if the price was low enough.
I am putting together a date set of Peace dollars- uncirculated- with the ugliest known surfaces.
Not marked up or beat up surfaces, yet somewhat unusual or interestingly ugly toning.
Although I already have the 1923 date, I like this one more than the one I own.
We'll see.

I'd be afraid to turn away from it.
This one's going to make Ricko cringe. Good luck on your offer.
IMO... extremely negative. And I am usually OK with most natural toning.
Collector, occasional seller
This thread reminds me of a coin I considered buying out of Witter’s inventory, but someone jumped on it before me. It’s not necessarily that the toning made the coin more attractive, but it was unique in its own way and obscure enough to catch your eye. I kept going back to the site to see if it had sold, and alas, it did.

Kind of makes me wonder if it is something 'alive' on it.

Different but not for me.

I think if you got sick of this coin, it would be very hard to sell.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
Not a fan, too distracting over the coin's design.

Priced right, anything is easy to sell. Protip- people who don't like the coin will not be the best judge of what it is worth.
Which grader sneezed on it? It's only gonna get worse. IMO

Not a fan. I'd probably crack dip and resubmit hoping for a better grade. I've had decent luck doing this with a few coins lately, but you have to be picky as removing the toning can reveal other problems.

That one makes me think of some tribal ceremony where he had to eat the still beating heart out of a deer or bear or something.
Disgusting, almost made me vomit. I can taste the pre-puke in my mouth. RGDS!
I'm intrigued yet I don't like it. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder so someone will eventually love it.

I suppose any Peace Dollar with toning attracts attention, but it would not be for me.
@MasonG I agree that it will sell if priced cheaply enough. But, I quick poll of the room is 100% against it (so far). This coin may be someones cup of tea, but i think most would dip it or skip it.

I like nice toning. This one is ugly. Looks like somebody puked on it. I don't think it would even dip out well. Looks like terminal black spots.

That's only half of my point. The other half is that people who'll never be buyers of a coin are not the best source of information regarding its value.
That's fair.

I don't think the toning complements the design very well, so I would pass.
I'm sure it will sell for quite a premium on eBay as any kind of toned Peace Dollars do very well there, even with all their fees.

I think not. Is it too late for the U.S. Coin Forum to do an intervention?
I knew it would happen.
Just flat awful!

You could always crack it, dip it, and resubmit it.
Or you can pass.
I would pass.

The more I go back to looking at this coin the more I see the cheetah spot toning. I’ve also had a glass or two of some good Port. If you can get it for less than 50$ , why not? There are a few options for you with the coin in hand.
If the field in front of Liberty's face had less toning I might like it. Ultimately, toning is a very personal thing.
I imagine someone was trying to toss this over the dip bucket into the melt bucket. It must have bounced off and landed in the pile to be graded.
That's the only logical explanation I can see.
no, not good for me...
Wow, what a spectacular exhibit for my pet peeve, which is that TPGs sometimes put coins in body bags for relatively minor flaws, but straight-grade a coin as ugly as this one!
Yes, I understand that these things are a matter of taste, but that's exactly my point. I applaud them for letting the market decide what to do with this thing, but I wish they would do that with a lot more coins that they bag up.
