World Coins: follow the leader by THEME game

lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,562 ✭✭✭✭✭
edited February 15, 2023 12:47AM in World & Ancient Coins Forum

Let's do another "follow the leader" game thread.

Here's how it works. Each player will suggest a theme. The next person must post a coin that fits that theme.

If you post a coin that fits the suggested theme, you then get to choose the next theme. See my first three coins below for an example of how it works.

Try not to pick too esoteric a theme, so as to not make it too difficult for the people playing behind you.

If we ever get stuck, anyone can post a new theme if the current one has been in play for 24 hours with no responses.

This is a World coin thread but it is perfectly permissible to post US coins or tokens here as well.

Ready? Stand by- I'll start below...

Not necessarily a coin, but should fit the bill:

Asheland did not pick the next theme, so let me post an African item and choose Age of Discovery as the next themed item.

    Ruler who abdicated.
    Napoleon I abdicated in 1814.

He died in 1821 but had a second funeral in 1840, when his remains were returned to France. That was the occasion for the striking of this medal, which shows his original resting place on Saint Helena.

Next: coin, token or medal of a funerary and/or posthumous nature.

OK, so the last theme fell flat. It happens. That's why we have the 24-hour rule. Anyone may hit the "reset" button by presenting a new theme if the one in play got no response within 24 hours.

So let's try a different theme.

How about... shields or coats of arms?
