Unaffordable, unfortunately. These coins could be affordable, within a lifetime, in a lesser condition, if it had not been for one person who succeeded in cornering the market. Maybe he got rich by doing it, but I doubt it.

No. It was offered offered on eBay as a group for just over $1 million. I don’t think it sold, but I don’t know for sure.

I remember it having an opening bid for a million or so, but there was also a reserve that was much higher, right?? Like a few million... The group would have sold quickly for $1 million I believe.

Great looking 67+RD, wow!
I think the Jenks PR67+RB example was a part of the group of 53. That one alone was over $250k

What a stunning collection. Way outside my budget, but I am stunned by the beauty of the coins in this collection.
Beautiful cent... Incredible how it has remained red over the last 113 years. Cheers, RickO

Great example. Stunning. I just love red (and RB) proof cents. I wonder where it has been hiding before it was slabbed.

is this the one found by a board member a few years ago or so. that was a pretty neat situation, how it was found, handled etc.
No, I believe that one graded 66. Still a good story nonetheless.

Beautiful coin! With my luck it would turn brown on me.
Love the look except for that tiny spot on the reverse.

It's certainly red.

When it turns brown I'm a buyer.
Value?
@GoBust I’m guessing six figure (low). I wish I had the guts to spend that kinda of coin on a coin, if I did I’d look hard at that one

Seems to me, the other PR67+ looks a bit red-brown ?

Should have been placed inside a kointainer for extra protection from tarnishing....and than encapsulated, IMO.

The key to getting top dollar when you sell is to have one of each date, not 53 of one date 😆😆
Then it wouldn’t be considered a hoard. 😊

All I am suggesting is that Blay's collecting strategy may have been better than that of the 09 VDB MPL hoard owner.
