1796 Conder Token

Just acquired this Conder Token.... Two reasons - one, Naval theme, two, 1796 date. Just came together and I really like it in hand. Cheers, RickO

I also would like to have someone familiar with the script letters affirm what they are... Looks like a JOC.... but I have frequently misread this type of lettering. Cheers, RickO
Cool NEWP.
I don’t know much about these, though I own a few types…..but as a copper “cent” piece dated 1796, what’s not to like?
Macho coin, I'd be interested in the story behind these tokens.
I found this on the web:

That's the most convoluted "H" I've ever seen.
But based on the name on the other side, HH it is.
I assume "Edin." is for Edinburgh (Scotland).
Curious, what is the approximate size?

Goes on to say Harrison was possibly a woolen merchant who got involved in making uniform buttons. That anchor symbol would make a smart naval button.

@Namvet69... Thanks Roy.... and that reminds me... the other reason (number three) is that during my time in the Navy, I visited Scotland several times. A lot of great times in Edinburgh, Greenock and Glasgow. Cheers, RickO
That's really neat. I thought about collecting Condor tokens a while ago, but I decided to stick with US coins

@CentSearcher .... I rarely acquire other than U.S. Coins....but once in a while, something just has to join my collection. Cheers, RickO
I know nothing at all about this piece of yours. I will say the strike looks great along with great surfaces.
Nice Navy motif for you. I like it

I like it! Nice pickup.
I’m digging your Conder token! Very nice attractive brown piece. Also like the 1796 date but in US every 1796-dated coin except the large cent is well out of my financial reach at the moment as a college student. Study hard, put in the work, and maybe in a couple years that will change…

Wait hold everything... Did ricko just post a photo?
Someone pinch me as this can't be real!?!?!?!
@Broadstruck ....
You have not been paying attention.... I have posted a lot of pictures in the last few years..... Some of which I actually took myself.
Cheers, RickO
Great looking piece @Ricko ! Thanks for sharing it with us ... and based on your posts here, a very fitting Naval example that belongs in your collection ...
... and excellent sleuthing @hbarbee . I really appreciate knowing more about pieces like this.
