I don't post many new pickups, but was really excited about this one!!!

divecchiadivecchia Posts: 6,531 ✭✭✭✭✭

I picked this up last weekend in Devens, MA at a local coin show that I frequent. I'm not a toner guy and like @ricko I like my coins blast white, but this one really has me liking the dark side. I REALLY love the reverse of the coin as it is evenly toned with no dark areas and the toning is perfect to highlight all coins detail. It is what helped me get past the dark spot on the obverse of the coin.

I scanned and tried to photograph the coin, but my skills are really lacking. This is the best I could do.

As always, thanks for looking and comments welcomed.

Congrats. What a great coin! Totally unmessed with. So hard to find early silver that hasn't been cleaned.

@divecchia .... Wow.... Nice coin. I like that look on old silver coins - 200+ years would make anyone gray... (check my hair :D ). Cheers, RickO

I don’t know the series but that strike is impressive. And the random lite crust against the nearly flawless smooth antique surfaces is exactly what I like to see.

    Hi Wayne,

Unless the schedule changes, the next show in Devens, MA is on September 25, 2022. (See photo of postcard below).

I will likely be there and wearing my CRO black hat and likely carrying a black/metal briefcase. If you see me feel free to approach and say hi.

Nice coin. I saw this one at the show and it is impressive in hand. I thought about buying it for a split second but I think the best coin-related advice I ever got is not to stray from your objective. I still have a few pieces needed for my gold type set so I didnt want to spend my budget on something else. But one day I would love to get one of these early dollars. Super nice coin, congrats!
