Ugh! Turned on the USFL NO vs TB - I see another "PACKED" house.........they must be piping in the crowd noise cause there ain't no way 25 people can make that much noise...... How is this league still thriving AND on TV???
funny you mention this, because i was at the gym yesterday and Michigan v New Jersey was on one of the TVs. first off, i had no idea these games were still being played. second, i could not believe how few people were in the stands............maybe 150. maybe. and for some unknown reason, this game was taking place in Alabama. i watched for about 3 minutes and damn near fell off the treadmill it was so boring. then for some inexplicable reason i went searching on ESPN.
nowhere to be found. and that's right, even the XFL is in the drop-down list.

...
I actually said here that I'd be checking it out. But the honest truth is I ended up not doing that really. I might have put one of the games on the tv first week for a bit. And I've seen stories about what's happening but I don't really feel like looking at them. I guess if it was a big name, etc, I would.
As I’ve stated not much of a Lamar Jackson fan. I think he’s been fun to watch, had a great rookie season but has been over hyped to death. Pro Bowl nomination last year 16 TD’s and 13 interceptions and missed 1/4 of the season. Misses a bunch of games. The NFL and media trying to make him a superstar that he’ll never be.
That being said the Ravens were decimated with injuries last year before the season started and throughout. Jackson missed the last quarter of the season and the Ravens missed the playoffs. The upside of finishing last? They have the luxury of playing a last place schedule this year. Their roster is not a last place roster.
So it brings me to this. Over/Under is 9.5 wins. Some of it depends on the Browns and Watson but with the Bengals playing a first place schedule, Pittsburgh switching QB’s I think the Ravens go from last to first, like the Bengals last year and top the 9.5 win mark.

There whole season hinges on Tua. I think he’s a bust but this year is make or break for his career.
But their schedule is brutal to start the season. First 4 games. Patriots, Ravens, Bills Bengals. That said I still think they could go 9-8.
Imagine this team with a healthy Jimmy G?
Thoughts?

Tua can’t miss with his array of weapons imo. Jimmy G might not be an upgrade, give the keys to Tua and go for it. Unless they bring Jimmy G Bombs in before Camp starts idk

Two weeks from today starts the NFL preseason.
A few thoughts leading up to the 2022 season.
What team goes from worst to first like the Bengals last year?
Does strength of schedule help parity in the NFL?
How do you feel your team improved from the draft, free agency or resignings?
What was the biggest signing so far?
Von Miller to Buffalo.
Mayfield to Carolina.
Watson to Cleveland.
Hill to Miami .
DaVante Adams to the Raiders
Who has the biggest impact?

I agree but I have to look at what the Cardinals did to themselves.
They hired a college coach that never had a late season winning record. In fact his record was down right atrocious.
They drafted a QB 10th overall in 2018 that is a brutal first round bust. This is a tell about their judge of talent. If they were going to go the QB/RB route Lamar Jackson was available until 32nd. Imagine the draft worth of trading down. 4 or 5 pro bowlers were drafted after Josh Rosen.
Example: Minkah Fitzpatrick went 11th.
Ryan Fitzpatrick was a back up in 2017 and would have fit the offense after Carson Palmer retired for one year until Murray was drafted.
Ok so now there is no good option available for this offense. If you don’t sign Murray who’s available? Jimmy G? No way SF trades in their division. If so Jimmy G would be a Seahawk by now.
So the Cardinals mortgaged the farm on a losing college coach that wanted Kyler Murray. The Cardinals with Murray will mirror the Ravens for years to come. They will beat bad teams, split against good teams, lose to the elite and go one a done if they even make the playoffs.
Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes contracts look like a bargain

Mitchell Swartz commented on the Chiefs losing Tyreek Hill about a week ago and I
feel about the same way he does. The Chiefs receiving corps will now be more diversified
and will have a couple taller and bigger targets for Mahomes to throw to. He said QB's like
a big target radius and Ju Ju and Scantling provide that. Sure they'll miss Tyreek's speed but
they still have Mecole Hardman and I'm saying he has a big year if he stays injury free.
Also they have a couple rookie receivers coming in that could surprise people.
As far as Mahomes, last year he started the season with a nagging foot injury and he says
that produced some poor mechanics and was one reason he started the year with a lot of
turnovers. He corrected that during the season and finished very strong.
I expect he'll come out this year with a strong start and will once again be one of the top QB's
and though the Chiefs have a lot of competition in the AFC west they should come out on top.

I am hyped for the season too. I've said this before, but it's so different post Brady as a Pats fan. I know we were spoiled. But it was stressful. It was SB or bust. The regular season was almost meaningless. Now each game feels more meaningful. And the simple things are more fun. I wouldn't be saying this if we weren't so successful. I know a lot of fans wish for that success. I never took it for granted.
Funny story I told here before. I called the late night sports radio show Scott Ferrall, Ferrall on the bench. the show is no longer on. It was Brady's last year in NE. I wanted to ask his opinion. I started by saying that after 28-3 it's all gravy. He said, I'm paraphrasing, "so if it's all gravy what do you care". Then he hung up on me. Lol
As a Chiefs fan I'm coming into the season knowing that the Chiefs win over the Bills in last year's playoffs
was a great win but it was really bittersweet because they didn't finish off the Bengals and make the SB.
That was really a blown opportunity and now it gets harder and harder because Josh Allen and the Bills
and Burrow and the Bengals as well as some other teams, (Chargers, Raiders) will keep getting better
and better as the years go by.
Wish Mahomes and KC had two SB wins at this point in time under their belts but that's football I guess.

I know that I have talked to you before about my experiences and feelings with the Patriots. I can't speak for all Pats fans of course. When the Chiefs were struggling, I tried to share some perspective. Myself, and several other forumites went through those two decades with Brady. The first NE SB and the first KC SB are not direct parallels, but there are some similarities that followed. Great coach. A QB who is not only truly elite but a leader and a guy who always feels like he is going to make the play for the win. Looking back on the Pats after that first SB, they were able to pounce and win more. That's what you want. In all likelihood, you probably will. With all of the talk about this team and that team, the Chiefs are still the current standard, in my opinion (sorry @Hydrant ).
Edited to add: but not this year, because I think this will be Brady's "drop the mic" year after winning the SB for the 8th time.

As I’ve said before the Chiefs and Packers both earned the title of “The Dynasty that never was”
And I mean ZERO disrespect towards your team, I’m just pointing it out that both Mahomes and Rodgers are fortunate enough to have won a Super Bowl.
And a lot of things have been out of their control Ofcourse so again no disrespect bud 🍻

An epic event occurs today. For all of you old timers the amazing George Jetson was born today.

This is the last day of the last month until March where there is no NFL football. For you that believe the week’s start on Sunday, the preseason starts this week in 4 days.

The technological innovation industry hasn't devoted near enough time and effort to the
flying car nor the floating fast food restaurant, IMO. Just a damn shame I'm not heading
into space this evening for a moon burger or asteroid pizza.
