Ok, here is a tough one. At least it was for me. I never would have gotten it without looking.

Name the pitcher who holds the MLB record for the longest streak of consecutive starts to begin his mlb career.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • BrickBrick Posts: 4,992 ✭✭✭✭✭

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • countdouglascountdouglas Posts: 2,460 ✭✭✭✭✭

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,350 ✭✭✭✭✭

Palmer is a good guess, but this pitcher made even more consecutive starts than Jim did!

I checked my guess (at least the player). It looks like I would have to be correct as, according to what I can tell, it appears the player I thought of never had a relief appearance.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,350 ✭✭✭✭✭

not lefty. it was a NL pitcher though

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • georgebailey2georgebailey2 Posts: 1,076 ✭✭✭

And all 35 of his post-season games were also starts.

    Definitely eliminates Randy Johnson.

Smoltz and Eck are the 2 hall of famers. I ONLY got the 3rd one because he played for the team I follow in the last 20 years.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,350 ✭✭✭✭✭

Agreed. I partially cheated by looking up a list of 40 save seasons.

I looked up a "D" as I got confused as to whether the guy had his award winning season as a starter or reliever (it was as a reliever).

2nd guess from further down the list was correct. I recall the 20 win season, didn't recall the 40 save season.

I would have never gotten it.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,350 ✭✭✭✭✭

the third pitcher, for those interested, was Derek Lowe.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I might be missing something, but it looks as though the most obvious guy had 23 in a row.

    Ty Cobb??

    Matt

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,350 ✭✭✭✭✭

for the first time this year, the daily calendar is incorrect. I just double-checked the answer and it is in fact Ty Cobb with 23 consecutive seasons. the calender had Gwynn as the record holder with 19.

thank you for setting me, and the daily trivia calender straight!
