My walk through received 2/8 moved to encapsulation now. Taking photo might take some time.

Hmmm... now at week 3 in "Received." Anybody else seeing any movement?

I have one that is 3+ months in QA (& total 6 months at PCGS) and another that is 2+ months in Encapsulation.

Can you guys specify tiers? I'm on business day 15 of an express sub. It's been in grading for about 2 weeks now.

  • BoosibriBoosibri Posts: 12,164 ✭✭✭✭✭

Just sent two walkthroughs in. Arrived today and scanned in. The regrade in grading.

Wow, why take so long in qa? Take long time in encapsulation maybe be because out of big holder?

That is really slow for a walkthrough even when you take Long Beach into account

As of today, it is still in QA but grade is available. I guess true view takes a long time to image. Well, I am pretty sure it should ship next week.

My two walkthroughs were scanned in Tuesday. One in encapsulation the crossover in QC. None of the QC is “being imaged” which means no crossover which is utter BS and again reinforcement to stop submitting for crossovers, but oh well.

I concur from my submissions at FUN. Seems they are trying to drive away business IMHO. Many people at the FUN show were talking about how tough they have been lately. Suspect I'll be taking a prolonged vacation from submitting. :/

I agree that PCGS is very tough. I am not very happy with my walkthrough grade. It is a lot lower than what I expected. Well, as long as they do that to everyone then I am OK with it.

4 weeks, today, in "Received". I will note that one of my coins they had listed as a 1/4 Taler from Wurzburg, but that has now been correct to 1/4 Taler from Salzburg (which is correct). So someone looked at my order and made an adjustment.

But otherwise, hasn't moved on to grading yet.

Received 2/3, just moved into grading today. Not wonderful but ahead of schedule based on others' experiences!

It's when stuff like this happens that I wish they had a "raise red flag" button on coins in a submission being processed that could prevent mechanical errors from getting out. Granted they caught it right away this time, but they don't always.

Y'all are doing this all wrong - you gotta totally forget about your submission - that's the only way it progresses through the system. Think of PCGS as Santa Claus - they know if you're thinking about your submission or not. If you forget about it, it'll come next week and your grades will be a point higher than you expected. Get your wives to make home baked cookies for the convention staff. If you can't think of anything else, you're gonna end up like that 2021 guy, waiting a year and a half for a box of disappointment. They also keep track how many times you check on the computer. I can't explain all the science but you get dinged each time.

I tried, hard to forget about my submission. But, couldn't do it - at 7 weeks today in "Received." I would like at least the illusion of progress...

I will tell you one thing I notice I have never seen PCGS so strict !

    I tried 4 reconsiderations
    I batted 50%

One for sure I thought would regrade a full point higher … but Nooooooo😏

Strict is good as long as they can keep it that way for all. People will pay top $ for PCGS that way.

Consistency over the years, with minimal up-and-down variation, should of course be the goal for any TPG. An abrupt change of standards is problematic to me. Curious how recent “crack outs” have done when resubmitted.

IMO, that is quite true. PCGS and 'cross the street are pretty good at Morgans, Lincolns, etc. but of necessity not quite as proficient on esoteric types or patterns or on some foreign. I think it important for all to keep an open mind with regards to them and them with regards to us.....

that's about three and half months so when you get your coins and TV it will be four and half months. indeed it is very slow.

One World Economy order with 11 coins moved up to encapsulation at about 80 business days.

  • ELuisELuis Posts: 1,086 ✭✭✭✭✭

80 days, wow, and for curiosity purposes, what type of service? Express or?

I have some 30+ raw coins that I been thinking to be sent for grading, but I will wait.

For my new buys, I just end up more focus on buyng already graded coins instead.

My last submission (Express service), took 30 days (not bad) submitted in January of this year.

How long did it take in each stage? My coins are at received for two months. Wondering if they will sit weeks at each stage or once grading is scheduled things will move more quickly.

  • goldengolden Posts: 9,705 ✭✭✭✭✭

Not sure how long it took in each stage.

  • jt88jt88 Posts: 3,045 ✭✭✭✭✭

It really depends on your coin. I have two orders are still in received; one received on 1/15 but it is restoration so it is expected to be long; another received on 2/9.

  • BoosibriBoosibri Posts: 12,164 ✭✭✭✭✭

Express shipment scanned in 3/9 and still in grading

  • Bob13Bob13 Posts: 1,492 ✭✭✭✭✭

OK - an update. My coins moved from "Received" to "Grading" today. Took 2 months.... but I will take the progress (and I will start a thread on my submission)!

My grades were posted today- 20 coins economy- received and registered on 11-30. In all fairness, there were a few coins that for me were out of the ordinary. I will post results once I have pictures. Results were good with one that did not meet expectations... There were various themes associated with this submission that should help with the write up

I have another submission that may prove to be somewhat entertaining

Grade back on a world express order… 3/9-4/21

  • ShadyDaveShadyDave Posts: 2,203 ✭✭✭✭✭

Received my world regular submission grades on business day 61 (1/21/22 -4/15/22). TruViews posted the same day.

Received my world regular crossover submission grades back yesterday, 65 business days (1/21/22- 4/21/22). Went 8-8 for crossovers with 3 1-point upgrades and no downgrades. Still no TruViews.

Have a world econ submission sitting in grading at business day 66 with no end in sight.

  • messydeskmessydesk Posts: 20,019 ✭✭✭✭✭

World regular submission marked received on 4/13, which includes the last two to make my WCIEA completion "official." I'm thinking grades probably won't pop until after the 6/30/22 deadline for this year's registry awards, though.
