Great stuff as always folks and WOW on that 1933 Goudey Ruth. Very gorgeous looking card.
And now for the head slaps and groans as I show off my latest treasures Actually from last month but the last part of this transaction arrived today.
Description not great (Used acceptable and varied some have imperfections and some are or may be in better condition) and not much better with pictures showing stack of albums in a box and a couple pictures showing partial covers on a couple but no actual number of what was in the lot. Fired off a question asking about how many and seller got back to me saying 23-25 on estimate. Also added a better picture and as I had looked at the other listings which also stated some have imperfections and showing the actual albums I assumed (and we all know what happens when you assume) that these would be roughly as good as the others listed.
This was the added picture that sold me on this lot.
You might be saying, why? Well one I didn't have any of these and I like Jerry Reed, The Crickets (1964 Germany release) one looked interesting and after looking up The Glass Bottle thought that was interesting as well even though it's listed as Bubble Gum/Soft Rock was hoping for me like this on the album:
Side 1 of The Glass Bottle was passable shape but side 2, nope.
Jerry Reed was was very dirty and lots of scratches (some feelable) but cleaned up well enough to enjoy it. There was a Johnny Rivers – Here We À Go Go Again! (another German release) but what a mess.
I've seen these types of defects before but not to this extreme degree. The hilarity is it does actually play but as you can imagine it does make some noise everytime the needle goes through the sections. Will keep it as I like the cover.
The Crickets has some weird substance on it but it doesn't effect play.
Overall the lot was VERY rough and a good portion will be tossed as they are that bad. Here is the entire lot.
A couple surprises in the albums which is always good.
These (along with The Glass Bottle) are dumpster bound and maybe a couple more as well.
I did contact the seller and admitted I made the mistake of not asking about condition but she took full blame saying I shouldn't have had to do that and she should have stated condition. She wanted to make it right and offered me anything in her store up to $30. I actually didn't feel right about this but she insisted so I spotted this.
Had good pictures of the album so decided on that.
Album arrived today and after listening to it, it's a mixed bag with side 1 being VG+ and side 2 being VG (some loud pops which I can't see where they are coming from). There was a sticker on the front that I managed to remove with some slight paper loss but not bad. Matrix/runout numbers aren't matching anything on Discogs at the moment
Oh, and if in your travels you find that Music From The Motion Picture Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, please buy it and set it on fire, smash it with a sledgehammer, use it as a frisbee, anything to remove this from existence. What a steaming pile it is.
Gave up my old one to a collector friend who needed it and offered me a price where I could replace it when a new copy came up and still be ahead; I'll likely clean up the edges a little since its hand cut - soon.

Yup, quite the um, interesting individual for sure. I know some have a hard time listening/watching/collecting items of people with sordid history but I take the art form for what it is.
WIthout going into extreme details, I grew up listening to stuff like this and even though I learned some dirty secrets once the parents passed on (it explains a lot of why I don't look like anyone in the family and why a certain old man did the things he did) I still have a love/passion for the music of my youth and I can at least thank them for that.

@UFFDAH - Nice card !! I've seen some crazy Brady prices lately- that 1/1 you showed, plus these 3 below and a few dozen more Mahomes and Brady
384354985691
154572989111
203600809044
Dumb question- since I don't normally play in the the big bopper league- is that really what low # Brady / Mahomes are selling for lately ? You and @blurryface would know better than I. I saw what that one went for, but that and the auctions above plus a bunch of Mahomes- I frankly don't know whats real and whats "market manipulation" anymore.
If so- I may need to drag out my PC from some storage units. I hate auction houses preferring private treaty but would use one IF these prices are indeed whats happening right now. I showed off a 1/1 I slabbed recently but in storage I have several HUNDRED low # Brady.
And speaking of @blurryface - what am I looking for in these Select boxes? One of my cardboard clients just handed me half a case of the stuff as a thank you and told me to break it publicly and keep all the cards ( think he knows I like collecting baseball cards and wants to drag me into his hoop & football worlds). I barely have time now to break a single box so this should take forever.
they made a ton of these select boxes this year which kinda made a ton of folks mad in regards to diluting the select brand. but either way, your price point cant be beat. not sure what retail exclusives there are or what cant be hit in them, ie clears/blacks in topps hobby, but the chase guys are gonna be lamelo, patrick williams and the man on the box, anthony edwards. most of the hype is on melo, but i think edwards will emerge as the better player in the long run.
as for the brand, there are three tiers of cards. so each player typically has 3 cards. for basketball its concourse, court level & courtside. concourse colors & silvers are solid, but you really want courtside colors and parallels. not sure about the animal prints and if possible to pull, but usually these are the most sought after. if you pull anything that has a tiger, elephant, zebra look to it, sleeve it immediately as those are highly sought after. commons even bring decent money. same as the other colors, the courtside will be worth 2-3xs what a concourse level one would be.
thats just my general consensus. could be way off base. havent ripped much 2021 and only a handful of the select brand of 18-20. curious to see whatcha get though…feel free to post or send me pics of anything youre unsure of.
First purchase from MySlabs. Another one knocked off of my Topps All Star HOFers project. Corner wear on the bottom a little worse than I expected - but looks way better with the naked eye than on the scan.

Thank you. I've decided to try to complete a Barfield collection I started when I was 10 or 11. I'm down to the last tough to finds. I have my want list in the buy/sell section if anyone can help.
@Barfvader
I noticed on the Cricket's album a number of Beatle song titles. Which group did the originals? Was buddy Holly the one who formed the Crickets? I know the British (Beatles?) are big Holly fans and may have copied Holly's music style. Always a ton of British folks at the annual Buddy Holly winter festival.
This is why I like buying lots as I end up with items I might not normally be looking for. This one interested me in that it was released in 1964 (roughly 5 years after Buddy Holly's passing), a German release and having never heard of it I wondered what it would sound like being mostly Beatles tunes Beatles did the originals and this is surprisingly not bad.
Out of all the albums/45's I have I only have one of their original Brunswick 45's (with Buddy Holly but under the band name The Crickets) That'll Be The Day / I'm Lookin' For Someone To Love. Nothing rare but still a piece of history.
