PCGS slabs, Gold Shield, and TrueViews.
Will straight grades and registry sets be far behind?
This one is a proof!

I had sooo many of those at one time in raw form.
I have been out of the waffle market for years now.
Did you get them from the Philadeliphia Waffle Hoard?
I wonder if anyone can identify the underlying error that led a particular coin to be waffled? It’d be equally interesting to find out how these escape the mint.
TurtleCat Gold Dollars
No, I got them from wholesalers.
I had thousands of waffle coins and even more waffle blanks.
I also ended up with about 30 pounds of webbing.
I have since sold 99.9 % off it and put the proceeds in "real" error coins
No, I have never notice an error except one sintered planchet that got waffled.
When the first came out, the scrap metal guys got them I believe. Then there was a market for them, so the market got fed. I am sure the US mint has much tighter controls on waffles these days especially proofs.
The only waffles that interest me, come with butter and syrup. OK... sorry, could not resist. Cheers, RickO
I like how this Belgian Waffle says it's Not Edible
Something in my mind says that the mint at one time sold some of these.
I could be in never never land with this.

Kennedys are my quest...
The Mint did sell this, as scrap. They didn't think they would be collectible.
Just goes to show:
One person's junk is another's treasure
I wonder if these will become mainstream one day. PCGS and CAC already straight grade some US Mint cancelled coins so it wouldn't be unheard of. Here's a PCGS CAC PR65BN. Both this one and the one above are US Mint defaced / cancelled proofs.

The only known Judd #2225!!!
(New design of Martha Washington
test dies)
I could see having one waffle coin for type and a conversation piece. To me, these are not errors.

My digital cameo album 1950-64 Cameos - take a look!
Well, they were errors to be candidates for waffling

They are for me.
Very nice! That's a great way to fill out an album!
That's a great piece Mike! It's great to see the US Mint making progress and continuing to experiment.
And it's UNIQUE too! That's very surprising given it's cancelled. I wonder how the Mint disposes of cancelled coins and patterns now?
Here are some links for this pattern.
The USPatterns.com image has been updated so it's worth checking out
Zions- That’s correct! It is unique and cancelled and certified by NGC. It’s the only known example of Judd 2225, cancelled or not!
That's amazing Mike! Really crazy for there to be just a single one of these patterns. I'm glad NGC slabbed it. I wonder what cleanup process the Mint has going with these test strikes! It would be great to see close up photos of that (hint)
Here's another amazing waffle error encapsulated by NGC. No grade on this one. We really need grades and TrueView or PhotoVision

Industrial waste unless they are something special like the Quarter struck on the Sac planchet as shown above. I'd be very selective when it comes to things like this.
It pays to be selective in all areas of coin collecting.
This is still a new area so there is some risk and opportunity.
For example, when this was on the market, some people passed with the thought that more might appear, but now, years later, it's still the only one, and is unique - cancelled or not:
Zions- correct. The Judd 2225 Martha Washington Quarter with the new design and the Nickel in copper, are both still unique in private hands. In ten years, no other example of either of these have surfaced!
Just came across this thread again!
Wow, 30 pounds is a lot of webbing! Did you get any of it certified like the following?
When will CAC start stickering these waffle coins?

I love now the eye, nose and mouth on the obverse and the eagle's head on the reverse made it through!
CAC doesn't sticker moderns at all and waffling technology was only introduced by the US Mint for some later moderns, but if CAC did, I wouldn't be surprised if CAC stickered some rarities like Judd-2225, as they do with Judd-269.
Judd-2225
Judd-269
They can't, the butter and syrup makes the stickers slide off.

That's a great one! Thanks for posting it!
I love the picture on those!
Thanks @Zoins - I think they're really unique.
