This was my only pick up from The National (which I was there from Thursday until Saturday afternoon). Saved up for about 5 months to be able to get this one. I found four of these (in PSA 10) after searching the whole floor and from those four, one table had two and that is where I picked this one up from. What's crazy is that during the last National in 2019, these were priced in range of $2,500 and 3K. Yeah, those days are long gone. Just glad to now own this.
Wow, nice pickups! Mine can't compete with these but I was very happy to get this 1973 Nicklaus Panini in the mail over the weekend. I'd been trying to track down a well centered one (that I could still afford) for quite awhile.

welp. started and finished the thread in the first post, huh?
for those that dont know about miller presses, they are fairly rare. after finding them, i believe only came in sheet form, finding cards that have appropriate sized borders is even tougher. many times, 7s or 8s are bought, recut & resubbed for 9s or 10s. so finding a 10 that truly looks like a 10 with appropriate looking borders is no easy feat at all. let alone one of freddie. congrats galaxy, thats one hellavu card!
My 1st pro wrestling card added to my PC.
golf cards coming in strong this month
so it was you! 🤬
was underbidder on this card. manually entered early on but my snipe didnt pop off. think this was early last month actually from a guy over in italy, right? very solid example and one of jacks earliest and hardest cards, yucky upper deck manufactured-rarity aside. congrats! awesome example.
Thanks! Yes, that was me. I wasn't sure what I was going to get since the ebay picture wasn't great and it wasn't clear whether there was discoloration on the bottom of the card. Really I cared more about centering so that uncertainty didnt bother me much and likely ended up helping me out. The card arrived from Italy over the weekend. I was super excited when I unboxed it and there was no discoloration. Still can't get over it. Seems silly but I've been searching for a relatively centered one for a long time and have had a lot of fun with the chase.
they are hard to find centered and my sole reason for going after it too! good to hear about the discolorization being a non issue. always concerning when dealing w an international seller.

aha! 😉
Picked this up at the National........VERY tough one.
thanks compadre! nothing more for me to add; you were on it. inherently cool cards for myriad reasons. i dig them all, but baby blue 83s reside at the top of my hierarchy. i've been waiting on someone to unload for years.
@woodstock2 fabulous golden bear -- my fav card of his. enjoy it!

Was outbid on this card when it was originally auctioned a few years ago. But ended up with it in the end!

Congrats. That is a great addition to your Rookie Cup collection.
My first T206
^ cool timing too.
“sheckard, chicago nat’l” right after the national was in chicago!
Been hunting this card in this grade range since 2014. Super tough to find centered.
I got a Patrick #124 last March and decided that I wanted to hold a pair...
I picked up a PSA 8.5 at the National, but then won this via PWCC later that same night.....

I don't know what your username stands for, but that is pretty much the sound that escapes me when I see most of your acquisitions.
Congrats on a fantastic card!
Magnificent centering on that Bronko.
Chris that is a monster grab. Hard to find one for sale and to find it centered. Just wow! Big-time congrats.
Paul... Best Stargell card hands down. Congrats on the pickup!!.
I collect low to mid grade when I buy vintage. I know most people here probably have stacks of this card, but I have wanted it for decades and finally bought it. I rarely spend more than $30-40 on any card. I felt the centering was close enough and I did not care about the soft corners.
Holy cow Nice Bronk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1948-76 Topps FB Sets
FB & BB HOF Player sets
1948-1993 NY Yankee Team Sets
Wow. That is a for real big boy card.
Always loved that card. He has a strange, delightful look on his face. Straight killer!
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
Nice cards folks The Stargell is also one of my favorites along with his 66 Bucs Belters and 71 Topps RBI Leaders
Something about the green colors and inclusion of Aaron on the 71 Leaders always attracted me
More Brady and Nomar PC items back from PSA

Upgrade for my Staubach master set
Rarely picking up cards as these are all I collect now, but after a month away was great to come home and open this one up. What a smooth auto on a nice card, and the best wishes inscription takes it to another level…
Picked up 2 Cale Makar autos for the PC.
Both from 19/20 SPx.
Obsidian Black and Purple. The Purple is /25.
I'll repost this here since I'm apparently confused about what month it is...
Like I wrote in the July thread, I probably should've picked this up earlier when it was a bit cheaper but I'm quite happy with it overall.
PSA order finally delivered....these are the bigger cards....

Started putting some extra stuff on COMC since I refuse to bow the knee to eBays new system. Had some funds in the account so I have been grabbing a few things from time to time on there.
Got a box in today. Here are some of the highlights. My son had another 100 or so cards in this shipment as well as he likes buying and selling on the site more than I do.
Just came in and Sending it out on super-express! I’ll never say this about any of my ‘71s I have graded, but, I’m REALLY hoping this comes back a 10!
Had an amazing time at The National. Only went one day this year and here are my pickups. The highlight of the day is that my 11 year old nephew won the Ty Cobb signed check that Heritage was giving away (they had a redemption card in one of their packs of cards that showed some of the highlights from their next auction).
I love the '53 Campy - couldn't get it to scan well with the bag inside the holder. It is only my second '53 Topps and it gives me both his '53 cards (the Topps and the Bowman). Definitely my favorite purchase from the show.
The '56 HOF set sans Mantle is one I am working on - this Alston is better than almost all of my 8s I have in 1956. No idea what is keeping it a 7 and was excited to add it.
Warren Spahn is the most underpriced player in my opinion and I keep adding his cards when I can. Not really working on getting the complete player collection or anything. PSA 8.5 is my favorite grade so couldn't pass this one up.
The '61 Ruth is for my '61 HOF set which I am getting fairly close on completing. It is the last of The Baseball Thrills I needed and I have been struggling to find one I liked. Was surprised when I was looking through a dealers '61s and saw this.
The '62 Brooks was from the same dealer as the '61 Ruth and I liked the card and the ability to deal by purchasing two cards.
Was a great day with my brother and my nephews. Lucky to live in Chicago and have the National in my backyard every other year.
@brad31
very cool w the nephew. hard to top that! even w that absolutely remarkable registration on that 61 ruth. 😉
Picked this Mantle up at the National and just got it in the mail today after working out the payment part of the deal. I also picked up a tough SSP of Acuna there as well and price was on the money.
^ congrats. both of those cards are definitely must haves for the player run. perfect timing to pull the trigger on that ssp.
Wow KC that Mantle is incredible. Nice pickup.
Continuing my Hall of Very Good kick. Wally Schang is probably the best offensive catcher of the dead ball era, leading in WAR among catchers for pretty much half a century, the late 1880s until 1930s. Four time World Series champ as well. Plus he was the last player to sport a mustache until the 1970s. Never sniffed the Hall of Fame though.
Started a run of 52-79 Topps H.O.F. autos. Want a different one from each year, and added a couple of multiple HOFer cards
Recent auction "wins"
MT box. Love the graphics on the back
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Nice Riley! Very much digging that card
