I think that with the quest to build complete AU-58 registry sets, the AU-55 grade is the most under-rated and overlooked grade in numismatics today. Case in point is this beautiful PCGS AU-55/CAC Buffalo. Got a great AU-55 to share?
I love the color on this Quarter: PC53. The mintmark placement is mid-right between the two known centered positions and the multitude of far right positions (from high to low).
I would have to check my notes but I believe credit for these beautiful pictures are attributable to Vern @barberkeys. Thanks!

Vulcanize - Thanks for sharing those cool trade dollars. I don't own any to share. I'm looking for a nice CC for a type set.
For today, PCGS AU-53 CAC...
**Happy New Year to all! **It's been a while since I've been on this thread. Lenny the story on the 1761 8 reales is that I got it from Lord Marcovan on the BST a few years ago. It's AU 50 ... I like to imagine the places it's been.
Let's close out 2021 with a good looking 3CN....PC-55 CAC.
Thanks everyone for making this thread a success and I look forward to see lots more coins in 2022.
Special thanks to Vern for all the quality photos and bringing my coins to life!
Hello my friends. Just wanted to give a FUN show update. Despite several dealer cancellations, the show has plenty of tables to keep one busy for 2 days. The public poured in on Thursday and stayed most of the day. I didn’t do any buying yet but sales have been robust, and it’s always a great learning experience. A+ so far!!!

NGC-53 CAC with a look that I like.....
Here's one I've had for a while but I like to get it out every once in a while.
A lot of color on this Morgan that I like. I hope you can see some of it in this raw digital image...

Very nice and interesting piece, Jed! What’s the history behind that one?
Keeping the wheels turning, here's another Baltimore newp that's in an old ANACS holder. I never have the temptation to cross these.
Q: You mean blast white like this?
A: No, I mean like:

An early Christmas present from my buddy, Vern. PCGS XF-45 CAC. Love it!!!
It goes very well with your Buff set, Lenny.
Just recd, another I like, PC63:

It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got.
A pretty, circulated Merc, in my opinion....PCGS AU-55
Pleasant-looking Lenny. Oh so close to full bands as well.

Inspired by previous posts, imaged this tougher short-set date 1943-S WL Half in raw AU:
I also seem to have this 1939-D Mercury Dime in PC65. Very close to full bands:

I thought I sold this David Kahn AU55, I recently came across it so I guess I didn't...

Lenny, We're you specifically asking about tough AU55 Buffaloes? This is a very tough '20-D found in my local coin shop September 2017...
Edit: Plucked it out of the wild then later had it graded.
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
By the way, these two other nickels came along with that '20-D out of the same previous collection so I grabbed these as well and had them graded...
Notice the toning is somewhat uniform across all three pieces:
1921-P
1923-P

Great find on the 20-D, Tim.
Here's a 55 I've had for a long time:

I like all coins, just some better than others.

A lot of proofs that I look at are over-graded in my opinion.
But that one looks under-graded.
I like this simple coin for sentimental reasons. I saw it raw in a local coin shop and it was the first Barber coin I ever collected:

Following Proof Trade Dollars have been the most expensive of them all and my fave coins so far.

Here's another I like (because of the bold die clashes in particular), PC64:

A nice looking raw Buffalo....
What a wonderful Buffalo nickel for a wonderful new year! The '19-D is one of my favorite dates of the series.

@Barberkeys That Lincoln was posted by @barberian >> a really nice looker! I have one in my collection, but it's not as photogenic as that one.
