And a Proof 1850 for comparison that is not mine:

Closing in on 1850 gold again:

    GOLD $1,847.67 (+4.89)

    GOLD $1,852.46 (+5.33)

    OK, now officially over 1850.

Not bad when you consider the alternatives are down considerably. Doing ok even with the dollar moving higher.

    Down 7%

Over the last 5 years, however, S&P 500 is up 61% and gold is only up 47%.

But that's really not the point. This thread has been celebrating every rise in gold for a year and we're right where we started. You don't find that a little funny?

Perhaps. I can see the circular irony but I am extremely happy with metals. I don’t crypto but apparently it’s not going well.
I’ll grab a little gold when I can and keep on stacking silver. Continue on thru the fog of coin collecting 😉🙀🦫

Right now my CAC gold coinage is excelling and the stocks are crashing (well today they are doing ok). Tomorrow who knows. Today creeped back up to the mid 1830s after tumultuous days on the stock market, not that there is necessarily a reliable correlation.

Report was that it went up after the Fed announced the increase in the Fed rate of 75 basis points (0.75%).

Interesting developments in the crypto market today.
Would the prominent crypto hedge fund "Three Arrows Capital" defaulting on a loan worth more than $670 million make the Gold/Silver market to climb?.

Digital asset brokerage Voyager Digital issued a notice on Monday morning, stating that the fund failed to repay a loan of $350 million in the U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, USDC, and 15,250 bitcoin, worth about $323 million at today's prices.

3AC's solvency crunch comes after weeks of turmoil in the crypto market, which has erased hundreds of billions of dollars in value. Bitcoin and ether are both trading slightly lower in the last 24 hours, though well off their all-time highs. Meanwhile, the overall crypto market cap sits at about $950 billion, down from around $3 trillion at its peak in Nov. 2021.

I’m hoping the spot price keeps going down. Eventually the numismatic gold will have to follow suit and it will be easier to acquire some items.
