Down 7%
Over the last 5 years, however, S&P 500 is up 61% and gold is only up 47%.
But that's really not the point. This thread has been celebrating every rise in gold for a year and we're right where we started. You don't find that a little funny?

Perhaps. I can see the circular irony but I am extremely happy with metals. I don’t crypto but apparently it’s not going well.
I’ll grab a little gold when I can and keep on stacking silver. Continue on thru the fog of coin collecting 😉🙀🦫
So gold had now officially not moved at all for a year...
Not bad when you consider the alternatives are down considerably. Doing ok even with the dollar moving higher.
S&P is only down 7% during that same period. I would bet on the S&P over the next 12 months, how about you?
I have some of everything and like my kids, I try not to compare them. When I do the good usually turn south and the bad make a run. Right now my CAC gold coinage is excelling and the stocks are crashing (well today they are doing ok). Tomorrow who knows. I can't control the crazies that are running the World or running to try and run the World.

All good points. For the record, I'm not the one who raised the spectre of the stock market.

Today creeped back up to the mid 1830s after tumultuous days on the stock market, not that there is necessarily a reliable correlation.
Report was that it went up after the Fed announced the increase in the Fed rate of 75 basis points (0.75%).
Interesting developments in the crypto market today.
Would the prominent crypto hedge fund "Three Arrows Capital" defaulting on a loan worth more than $670 million make the Gold/Silver market to climb?.
Digital asset brokerage Voyager Digital issued a notice on Monday morning, stating that the fund failed to repay a loan of $350 million in the U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, USDC, and 15,250 bitcoin, worth about $323 million at today's prices.
3AC's solvency crunch comes after weeks of turmoil in the crypto market, which has erased hundreds of billions of dollars in value. Bitcoin and ether are both trading slightly lower in the last 24 hours, though well off their all-time highs. Meanwhile, the overall crypto market cap sits at about $950 billion, down from around $3 trillion at its peak in Nov. 2021.
Crypto has been crashing for a minute now. 😉🙀🦫
Poor silver is having a heck of a time getting to $22 and flirting with $21 and under.
I’m absolutely positive that I don’t know anything about bullion. BUT , we do love it.
Crypto crashes, you got nothing
Silver crashes and you still have silver. 🤨🙀🦫 ( which I have a love of the look and feel)

I hope you are right. I would love to seen even lower prices. To think people were buying $20 Liberty's for $500 in the early 2000's. I would enjoy adding a of dates to my collection. Come on sub $1000.......

Lower prices just in time for the FUN Show. Gold at $1750. Dealers have decisions to make. I’m guessing little pricing changes will be made.
Bullion will be lower. But the premiums haven't shrunk yet.

Not my coin, but...
I’m hoping the spot price keeps going down. Eventually the numismatic gold will have to follow suit and it will be easier to acquire some items.
