LOL. Except nickel is a necessary industrial metal. They had to suspend trading last night when the price had surged over 100% from yesterday's close... [Kicking myself. I considered buying nickel futures options yesterday.]
JM. That’s probably the toughest part of the job is cutting the culls at market. Seen many a fine specimen of beaver cut just before slaughter. It’s tough, I grow close to some of them 🤠🦫
I am glad to see gold move lower today. There are a string of coin shows coming up and I have to admit, I came very close to selling some Liberty's. That would have been a crazy thing to do. I really like every Liberty I have.
If only I had a 1918 gold coin I could post it. Nothing in my inventory for that. Getting close though. I am pulling for sub $1400 and would really like sub $1200.

I think it will take a while to get to $1400. Per the other thread, however, I am predicting 17s this summer.
I have given up trying to figure out when the next bomb will drop, what country it will hit and where the dollar will go. For me it's all about Pre-33 gold. Probably need a bigger drop than $1700 because premiums will just stay higher to make up for that move. I want the $500 Double Eagles of 2003.

Unlikely as production costs (mining) are higher than that now.
This sharp gold drop is probably just another buying opportunity. Maybe it will keep the upcoming gold 2022 gold US Mint proof prices down a little bit, just in time.
Physical silver is getting scarce as well in spite of the recent indicated price drop. Even the US Mint is not able to keep up with demand and is worried about low physical silver dollar blank availability.

Palladium is getting killed. I guess that is why we don't see people posting that PM. Down about 20% ($600 an oz). Gold off $120 from the high close (about 6%).
Witnessed the Palladium Price Drop today.
Expired 2019, 2020, & 2021 US Mint ounces now $3600, no longer $3,900
I find it odd the Mint these days sells items from the past.

They always did. Once they are minted, they keep them in inventory until they sell out or they decide to melt them.
Good is moving up so I better post a comment. I would hate to let some people down. We are at $1945 so nothing for me to post. My next gold coin is a 2022 Winged Saint Gauden so come on $2022.
My , not professional opinion but it was stuck around $1800ish (palladium inverted with gold just a couple months ago. Gold 1800+palladium $1750, inverted)
Feels like below $2000 for a little while and then over$2000 not to look back , next month or so. My guess only😉

oh my word, gold is making a parabolic move, up 62 dollars
Look at Nickel:

Nickel is up 44 PERCENT today... [$62 is a lousy 3 percent move.]
Nickel, the new crypto.
My herd of beavers 🦫 double in value over night.
I hope we don’t lose many head on the drive to market Yeehaw 🤠

Some of those are, I believe, steel and copper nickel. You need to be pre-1982 and then exempt the tombacs and the chrome-steel coins.
Fun little site!

Kitco said $2071 around noon today.
Old record was $2063
Curiously, gold was $20.67 for many years (1879-1933)
My Saint Set
GOLD $2,045.60
OK, it has cooled off a little, but thanks for answering the question of whether we saw history made today (Tuesday) with a new high.
....
Oh, we are talking about gold of the glistening kind - not that black gold at the pump with its equally historic U.S. high today.
You may start posting coins again.
Price dropped below $2,000.
My guess is you must have sold your last ones at the top yesterday afternoon, and crashed the market with profit taking
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
Lol. Not I.
I sold a few gold spares on Monday and Tuesday and just mailed a few more out for auction.
As someone said, it may not pay to just hold it all forever

I'm down to about 1.5 ounces. Not really worried about it. You can never hit the absolute peak except by dumb luck.

Happy and sad. 🤨

Bump
Gold at 1925... on to 1880!!!
As I mentioned earlier, notice how quiet PM threads get when the price is dropping?
I watch to learn. I understand going lower and I am interested in what makes things tick. Higher and lower. Not some evil person who enjoys misery.

GOLD $1,933.95 (+6.96)
Heading back up, at least for now.
Ironically, the $33.95 over $1,900.00 is close to what an ounce of gold once was valued.
1934 $20 Carr Art posted while gold is 1,934~ish
