As for the Schmidt opc above, looks trimmed, but that shouldn't be the real reason since its slabbed. The post by 1982 makes the most sense. $350,000 vs $70,000 is way too much a difference for essentially the same pop. BUt in this case since the Topps is a pop 5, it probably should sell for a higher amount. The opc sell sounds more legit than someone paying $350,000 for a topps one.

Goldin sold a Topps PSA10 for $317,200 back in Nov 2024, so $350,000 by Heritage is not that outrageous by comparison.
The Heritage card was from the Dmitri Collection.
But if you're a believer of equal POP/equal price, then $70,000 cant be considered that legit.

interesting -- the topps card is a great card, but $350,000 seems way out there. 8's go for $1,800 or so its hard to fathom that large of a jump.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

And 9s go for around $10k. We all know there are some 10s in those POP252 9 holders.
Time to gamble $10k for a chance to win $300k!

Posted in the May pickups thread, happy to add this to my OPC baseball collection and a 74 OPC to boot a very tough year for high grade.

Sweet card and his rookie on top of that. He was a very good pitcher. Better than a semi star in my opinion. Did you get it graded or buy it?

@Mikeygiggs_336699 Great pickup! 1974 is the 2nd toughest set behind 1967. 1974 was a low print run due to a strike at the factory. The Expos cards from the 1974 set are especially tough.

Thanks @waxman2745! I have the Winfield and Parker PSA 8 and adding this card was very satisfying for me and an expo even better!

The focus of my collection over the past 5-6 years has been ‘74 OPC hall of famers in as close to pack fresh condition as possible with less focus on centering since many cards cannot be found with decent centering. Take a look at the pop report and you’ll see what I mean! I picked up a bunch graded but more are still raw since I’m afraid of how they’ll be treated by the grading companies. I still need Parker, Simmons, Berra and Schoendienst (not collecting HOF managers, only the three managers in the set who are HOF players). I have one PSA 10 common from this set, Mac Scarce; I believe there are only about 50 in existence in the entire set!
