I try not to use that term lightly, but I am absolutely enamored with my newest addition.

This coin was on a watch list I had for far too long, and one day a couple of weeks ago when I was cleaning up the list, I decided I needed to inquire before she was gone. This is my third '24, so it's not like I needed her for the primary "Redbook" set, but the pull was getting more and more powerful.

Something about the strike, the surfaces, even the error ... she just exudes a character that is hard to quantify.

And so, I finally reached out to the the seller, who is a standup Member here ( Lenny @paesan ), to inquire what we could do. It was then I found out the coin was on consignment from another long-term and highly respected Member ( Vern @barberkeys ), and they made me an offer simply too good to even question.

Vern's pictures are outstanding, and very accurately capture her ... and so for tonight at least, I will use his.

This is how I described her in my notes tonight after a long, and enjoyable cup of tea.

O-115, R2; Powerful and thick luster highlighted with a light dusting of grey-green over nearly mark-free surfaces and an impressive strike. The reverse has deeper shades of color most noticeable at the lower periphery, and while the obverse planchet lamination is quite noticeable, it does not feel distracting, but seems to add character.

“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
