A little off topic but affects everyone - Covid 19 shots

Apparently there is a large percentage of the population that are "Anti-Vaxxers" and several others that just don't want to get the Covid 19 shot. I had an idea yesterday that I think the government should run with.
After you receive the second shot, or the single with some vaccinations, there is a very small chance that you would still catch Covid or spread it so...why not issue people that have been vaccinated a card / badge or something such as that so they can now go into public places like coin shows without wearing a mask?
I think you would have everyone lining up for a shot if this was the procedure.

If you go to a coin show you have to wear a mask right?

Because the vaccine is not 100% effective, for one. You can still be an asymptomatic carrier.

I might imagine that the rules on this will vary state to state and perhaps even county by county.
There is still some question as to how effective the current batch of vaccines are with new variants of the virus. These variants, though still in relatively low numbers here, are of some concern to some health officials as they appear more easily transmissible than the original culprit.
I might imagine that anyone hosting a coin show might err on the side of caution and require all to wear masks given the current unknowns.

Knowledge of this virus and protocols are frequently revised based on analysis of circumstances.
    That’s how science works. It’s a process.

I’m with Tom147 with the precautions. I too have seen too much of the virus up close.
I made an ALL DAY trip yesterday to receive my second vaccine and with that, will continue with my precautions until conditions warrant a change.
I really believe shows could be done safely, but I don’t think many venues and enough of the people are willing to make the necessary effort to keep it relatively safe.

I think this topic is very relevant, I've not been to a coin club meeting in a year, nor have I had the fun of attending a coin show since they were cancelled along with a couple of auctions. I get my 2nd shot on the 3rd of March.

By the time April rolls around I should be fully immunized unless I'm one of the unlucky 5%. Once that occurs then I will have nothing to fear attending coin shows. Except dealers who don't like cherrypickers, and I know who most of those are.

Speaking of Covid. I was driving through South Dakota and hit the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation while on a state highway and was turned around by the tribal roadblock workers. It was a 2 hour inconvenience but they were polite about it and I didn't feel like disappearing on reservation land by questioning their authority.

I am on waiting lists... almost impossible to get a shot around here.... Still work, go to gun shows, shopping - whatever is necessary. Masks when appropriate. Cheers, RickO

I got a card after the first shot and clothing sticker to go with it after the second shot. A pin would have been more durable, but that costs more.

Wife and I have had both shots.

Like Tom taking no chances. Wear mask when in public. Online works for me. A DR on CNN recently confirmed what Tom expressed.

Like HIV CV has the ability to mutate. It will be with us for sometime and those who are careless / oblivious will be increasing their risk of paying the price. Like the radiation from a nuclear blast I don’t believe it will subside anytime soon. Like the infrastructure of a bombed out city we will just have to adjust / deal with it.

I’m not sure why I’m responding to this but as a medical professional I will. Most people who don’t want to get the Covid shot are not anti-vaxers. They’ve gotten their polio, pertussis, MMR etc. vaccines. I’ve gotten both of my shots and I strongly recommend that anyone above the age of 65 or frontline worker who have access go and get vaccinated. Where it gets murky is with the young. Should a young healthy patient get vaccinated? The government and CDC are pushing in that direction. But if one is truly objective is it in the best interests of a young healthy 25 year old to get vaccinated with inadequate testing and with us having no idea what the side effect profile will be in 10 years. The CDC is also burying the incidence of side effects on their website. I challenge anyone to find this important information in a timely manner. It’s there but good luck finding it. With the government telling people even if they get vaccinated that life won’t be normal for another year that doesn’t exactly motivate the young to get their shots when they become available. There are obviously outliers but the survival rate for the young is 99.95% and if I was 25 I’m not sure I would take one for the team and get vaccinated right now. I might feel differently in six months when there is more information available.

I’m a ‘Phase 1A’ worker and still haven’t been able to get a shot ... keep scheduling and then one day prior get message that the supply is gone, so reschedule again .... repeat ..... 😆
