Funny to read that above about finding that cool piece that was collecting dust. Something similar happened to me just this evening. I was cleaning out some storage and stumbled across this Donnie '84D rack with Ripken that was literally covered in dust. Haven't seen this piece in years. Completely forgot I had it. I am not learned about rack packs like Grote and other experts, so I know little about it other than I bought it very early on when I returned to collecting post-college.
No matter where this hobby takes me, I somehow always end up back to ‘85 Topps. I remember (especially as a Met fan and that ‘88 LCS) when this card was all the rage. Just a beautiful card, the photo, the colors, the card design, the uniform, and the PSA case/label design are meant for each other.
