After the US Mint royally messed up and misplaced my order of the 2021 uncirculated mint set (never even made it to USPS), bought an unopened box from eBay paying 10$ more.
Came in the mail today and to be honest, overall quality is very disappointing, especially the Philly minted ones
Howard C. Weinberger is considered one of the founding fathers of Space Collecting, with a specialization in coins and medallions. He is the one who uncovered the full background of the Robbins Medallions and authored two books about them, providing all the historical data, including which were flown. He also published the research on the Fliteline Medals as well as the Apollo 13 and Apollo 14 Franklin Mint Medals.
His influence is far reaching as he was also the one to get Numismatic Guaranty Corp (NGC) to agree to certify the Robbins Medallions, followed by the Fliteline Medallions, the Apollo 13 and Apollo 14 Franklin Medallions and then all the medals related to Space.
Weinberger is known to have a keen eye for what would become popular among collectors. He was the first to assemble a collection of the gold Robbins Medallions and paid large sums to acquire them when people thought he was crazy.
Over the years his expertise has been sought out by collectors, dealers, auction houses and journalists. After many years, parts of his collections have come to market for collectors to enjoy. Many of the finest Medallions that have surfaced for sale can be identified as from his collection by the certification letter being addressed to him from an astronaut.
I started a separate thread regarding the 1921 Peace & Morgan Dollars that are counter stamped
75th Anniversary for the Western Reserve Numismatic Club. I was asking if there were any important VAMS
I missed. Since not many replied I guess I was right…….no big VAMS to speak of so I’ll post them below.
Along with a 1984 silver ANA Members Medal. I just love the design!
After 20 some years of looking, I not only found one for sale, but made the purchase!
So like me, crusty and old, I finally purchased an example of the coin that got me 1) Started in collecting ancients which 2) lead me back into collecting coins which 3) got me into the coin club which 4) lead me to this fine compliment of Numis Nuts (you guys!)
This is an AE30 of Roman Emperor Macrinus with the rev depicting the temple of Aphrodite Aphkitis. It was minted in Phoenicia, Byblos between 217 and 218 AD.
I dealt with this dealer before, so he new how to counter my offer and just what to say when I commented on the condition of the coin... with careful cleaning (dont cringe!!!), Im certain that the coin will be much more detailed with very readable legends... and valued 2 to 3 times what I paid for it.
It's coming from Dubai, so it probably wont be here today!
Picked up my second silver ANA Struck on the Steam Press Medal

This is an interesting CSNA medal. It was to Harold Don Allen. I speak to Micheal Wehner often via messenger. Hehas been one of the longest standing presidents. He said…….He was a speaker at the second CSNA educational symposium in the North. PCNS was the host and I was prez.
He also said he might even have a photo of it and he’s looking for it. If he finds it I’ll post it here.

Grabbed a $2 copper for the collection. Seems inexpensive but I am a repeat customer. Nice product from these guys 🤠 I’ve posted their Mercury dime before
I stopped in my LCS to say hi and Happy Thanksgiving. I should not have taken money with me. I have been doing a lot with Daniel Carr Peace Dollars lately so I could not pass up a "Roll" of the real thing (5 year ago I had been building a 66CAC set but moved on to gold). Then I asked about loafs and he happened to have one. A fun day at the store.

I went to my local pawn this morning and picked up a few things. Got a discount from the marked price too.
The receipt is just to show this is from a pawn store (pics or it didn’t happen) and there is a typo on it. The 21 peace was not ms64.
