Granted I’ve shared this on another thread but it’s the highlight of my collection and my most recent purchase so..oh well. xD
1799 Draped Bust Dollar
I love that it has an honest circulated look. It means it was actually passed around back in the early 19th century and who knows whose hands it passed through?

Beautiful coin! Great centerpiece to any collection.
Well.....a little late for Christmas this is 1917 John Wanamaker New York, N.Y.
Rulau only mentions this in aluminum but obviously this is brass. I'm not all that surprised he wasn't aware of it as John Wanamaker was prolific in making merchant tokens, somewhere 50+
Non the less Santa looks pretty good for 104 years old! And, maybe even a little too much spiked eggnog as his
left eye is drooping

Great token Stef! I love the Christmas theme and have been looking for one of these myself!

was trying to complete my 2020 tower of london piedfort set - missing the infamous prison [below] and the royal mint - I thought they were both sold out, but some random midmorning I checked and both had come back available - added them to cart, go to checkout - there's some issue w my card - by the time it gets sorted w my bank, the royal mint piedfort had sold out 😑
so, still looking for that one
also saw someone share this [probably further up this thread] and thought it was a nice looking coin - found it for a good price w it's trademark foam toning / discoloration near bottom right corner
OOH!! I am so jealous.
This is a coin that everybody wants, but most do not have. A dealer friend of mine got one with a hole through it in the 1970's, which I could have had for $100. Well I did not have 100 spare dollars at the time, and he sold it to someone else. The best time to acquire an 1856 flying eagle cent was when the Beck hoard was released in the 1970's. I think the average price for a circ . 1856 FE cent was about $900, at the time. Unfortunately for me, the prices nowadays for these are beyond my spending limit. Very nice coin! Congrats on the purchase.

Nice example. The reverse is all there.

Still somewhere between Dallas and Portland. I'm guessing (hoping) the white spots on the obverse are on the slab...
A newp for the type set.
