I'm on a road trip to DC right now, I'm looking forward to seeing the Smithsonian's numismatic collection for the first time.
Please take lots of pictures.
Thanks in advance.

The numismatic collection was closed for renovation. All I could see (and just barely) were a $100,000 note and an ultra high relief double eagle:
I didn't get to stick around the American History museum because of my family's schedule, but the Natural Science museum has a nice mineral collection. The fossils were a bit lacking though.

Sorry for the outcome but many thanks for trying.
Any idea when the renovation will be complete?

The sign said December 6th. I was just a bit too early.

“Probably the last coin this year for me.”
Beautiful coin, and such a gorgeous design. The early 20th century was the golden age of beautiful coin design, IMO. Walkers, SLQs, Buffalo nickels. The incuse gold issues. The $10 Indian and St. Gaudens. All of them just gorgeous.

25 from Anthony Fanger collection plus a few others.
Was definitely a nice evening to receive these. Very proud to add to my in process set.

Nice haul MJ
Auction. Never had a night like I did a couple of weeks ago. I’ll tell the story soon of how we ended up here…never planned to go this far with the Morgan set but here we are. 41 coins left to finish the complete mm set with varieties as of 10/31/89.
I got this 1794 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. always wanted one but were pricey.
but seems prices have come down in the past few years so I got a low grade one.
slab is scratched so not the best pics.
@Goldminers
Really? No!?
I'm sorry, I really wanted that one too! I did stretch my limits a tad, but I have a nice MS67 to trade in/consign with GC to help ease the pain! I'm seeking some top pops in the series overall if I can swing it, and currently looking at the '64-'70 MS Basic Silver Short Set as a collection goal.
You have an amazing coin and medal collection! ...
Here's another one that sits in my tight hands....
I really want to post in this thread, but I can't find the coin I'm looking for (1870-CC PCGS XF45 CAC Liberty Seated Dollar), therefore I can't purchase it. Lol!
This is the Kennedy I planned to trade-in if I was able to get that toned 67+ that I wanted for my top 100 set. I did try to bid again but was too late. Maybe one of our 67's will end up in Wayne's set.

A very scarce date and rare to have original color and luster like this!
For a budget type set of better dates: 1921 25C NGC F-12. Hard to find even a mostly clear date at this grade and sometimes even in higher grades.
An addition for one of "MyCollect" sets.

@johnny010, Wowzer! That’s quite the heap of CAC’d rattlers. Waiting for show and tell time.
I'm thoroughly impressed! And here I'm planning to probably put a halt to my coin collecting in 8 more coins or less. LOL!

Haven’t decided exactly what I’m doing with my gold holdings approach long term.

Hat's off to bidders 9 & 10. And to you bidder 11, sorry!? One more increment(and 5 seconds?), it was yours, as I was at my limit!!
And a shout-out to Ben Shakouri for helping me out with a payment "glitch"!..
Picked this up this morning at the flea market.
I was bidder 11 and really wanted this one. No need to rub it in.
