A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study & said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your bible a little & get your hair cut, & we'll talk about it."
After about a month, the boy came back & again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father's study where his father said, "Son, I've been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your bible diligently, but you didn't get your hair cut!" The young man waited a moment & replied, "You know Dad, I've been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, & even Jesus had long hair ..." To which his father replied, "Yes, & they WALKED every where they went too!"
It was autumn, and the Native Americans on the remote reservation asked their new Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets.
When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared.
Also, being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He got on his cell phone, called the National Weather Service, and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?"
"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood in order to be prepared.
A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. "Is it going to be a very cold winter?"
"Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied, "it's definitely going to be a very cold winter." The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find.
Two weeks later, he called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"
"Absolutely," the man replied. "It's going to be one of the coldest winters ever."
"How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.
The weatherman replied, "The Native Americans are collecting wood like crazy."
It was late autumn and the chief gathered the tribe together to make an important announcement. The chief spoke as everyone quietly listened. "As you know, we had a bad crop this year. I have some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that we're going to have to eat buffalo chips for everyone to survive the winter." One of the Indians yelled out "What's the good news?" The chief responded, "We have plenty of buffalo chips!"

Baby squirrel rides Boston subway with commuters
.
.
Passengers on a subway in Boston were joined by a baby squirrel for their commute, initially sparking panic before the creature warmed their hearts by snuggling up for the ride.
The lost squirrel bolted through the doors as the train was departing Ashmont station, causing some passengers to jump onto their seats.
But people soon “banded together” to try and help the lost animal, with a picture showing it resting on one person's arm.
Passenger Rosanne Foley, the executive director of the Boston Landmarks Commission, posted a photo of the squirrel and said it was let off two stations down the line at Fields Corner.
