Let’s also see what you currently have and use often.

I just got this one tonight, the book on Charlotte gold is still in the mail...

In the last couple of months I got a brand new copy of Kevin Flynn's 2 Cent book from Ebay - a previously used copy of David Lange's Mercury Dime book, Second Edition from Half Price Books thru Amazon - and for Christmas 2019 I got the complete set (5 editions so far) of the Mega Red U.S. Coin Books. These are welcome additions to my numismatic library which some are in my home/office, the others are in storage for the time being.

    Cardinal,
So you were the bidder who won that (I was the underbidder)!

I have 12,000 books, catalogs, pamphlets, etc. And yes you can have too many. 2 years ago my office got physically downsized and 80% of my stuff is in storage. I also looked at that AM Smith volume, but my budget was blown quickly.

If you don't have them, get Birdsall's books on the Dahlonega and Charlotte branch mints.

Indeed I'll have to look into that! This is exactly why I started this thread, it'll help us discover new titles, etc.

I cannot take a picture right now... However, just looking at the shelf by my desk (not in my library) I see Coin Preservation Handbook by Charles Frank, The Lincoln Doubled Die by John A. Wexler, and United States Gold Counterfeit Detection Guide by Bill Fivaz...... I had used each one over the past couple of months, got to get them back in the coin library. Cheers, RickO

One title; Breen's US encyclopedia. Picked it for a buck at library book sale.
Incredible resource. And then there is Google. ..

Good find. I have a copy of that book that was given to me by a relative of a friend alongside some other books that he had, including a brand new copy of Arnold Margolis error book. My friend passed away in 2010. The book was well used but also has yellowing on the edges of the pages and a nicotine smell as my friend (and his brother, who lived with him), were heavy smokers. The book may not be in perfect shape, but I found it useable. I let it air out over time and the smell is pretty much gone.

About 1/2 of my library are books I bought (either new or used), but the other 1/2 are ones that were given to me from family members of collectors and dealers who I have come in contact with over the years, as they would've been in the trash. If something happens to me, I have instructed my wife to donate them to a coin club or organization.

Funny, if you'd bought a $150 coin for a buck, everyone on here would be jumping up and down...since it's a book...meh!

That book (i.e., by Vermeule) is one of my favorite numismatic books. There is also a second edition. The author was also a noted scholar and curator of Greco-Roman antiquities.

I have a copy of Crosby's "The Early Coins of America and the Laws Governing their Issue" as well, but not the revered Nova Constellatio gilt stamp edition. :'(
