There must have been a reason I stopped messing with Silver Eagles. Oh, now I remember - it's not about collecting anymore. Too many special finish varieties, too many special issues.
^THIS...Oh, and that whole spotting problem that has yet to be resolved!!!
I have to give my opinion—I don’t think this will sell out immediately.
My opinion was 100,000 mintage was right on the edge of being a profitable investment at 139.95
At 110,000; it puts me over the edge
I’ll probably buy 2-3 sets max

Don’t know if anyone addressed/clarified this yet...but the mintage limit for this special ASE set is 110,000 (as per the currently posted Mint press release). I’m assuming 100,000 for the US side and 10,000 for the Canadians.
I believe there was a question if the total mintage was going to be 90,000, 100,000 or 110,000, depending on the split sales between the two mints.
Agree.
PR says 110,000, but the listing on the usmint.gov still says 100,000.
Snapshots before one or the other is fixed:
(snip)
Excellent! At least I won't have to independently verify the number. That extra 10K puts them above the 25th sets, and moves it down the "rarity" scale.
I understand the Canadian sets will be individually numbered, and the same price as the US set. (Might be cheaper considering 1 CAD = .75 USD.)
I wonder if that's the set I should try to get... Anyone live in Canada? (I'm still assuming the Canadian set is only available in Canada...)
Limited to a mintage of 10,000 and retailing for $189.95. This product may be ordered directly from the Mint at 1-800-267-1871 in Canada, 1-800-268-6468 in the US, or on the Mint's web site as of July 3, 2019. The coin set is also available at the Royal Canadian Mint's boutiques in Ottawa and Winnipeg, as well as through our global network of dealers and distributors, including participating Canada Post outlets.

Just ordered the two set limit from the Canadian mint. www.mint.ca They were about $143 American each set. They have a different label inside with the Canadian flag first. They are individually numbered too.
Go to this link and check out the high res pics of the Silver Eagle. It has a very interesting finish. Wish the US mint would let you zoom in like the Canadian one does.

@jmski52 said: Think of Apollo 11 and you think of that famous first footstep onto the Moon, seen by 600 million people as a grainy black and white TV image.
Getting that image to Earth took some doing.
The job of receiving the signals from the Moon fell to NASA’s tracking station at Goldstone, California, and facilities in Australia at Honeysuckle Creek and Parkes, because they had the Moon in view at the scheduled time of the moonwalk.
Thanks for the background info. I still think it's a stretch to commemorate the Apollo Moon Landing as a joint venture, but I also understand marketing. That's not to say that the Aussies didn't help with the communications, but it was an American, USA accomplishment to put the first man on the moon, in my humble opinion.

Like the U.S. mint, they probably went to "unavailable" until they sort out today's orders and know how many are actually still available.
1,204 views in the last 24 hours and 9500 sets sold? Since there is a limit of 2 sets per household, I doubt 2500 people called in and placed order on RCM

I don't know enough about Canadian distribution.
How many different channels do they use?
How many were sold to authorized dealers?
Are there any shows or festivals that they sent units to?
Could it be part of a subscription?
I'm not even sure how long they were on sale. Did they go on sale yesterday or earlier?
It is certainly possible that they sold 9500 sets.

Yeah, I tried to do a search on how the RCM handles distribution, but they aren't as transparent as the US Mint.
Not sure if they were in the stores. Web page specifically says they aren't.

I did check some "official" dealers, and found some still had the set on sale, so I wonder if they apportion some of their inventory to those dealers...
Quick question, will the Canadian set ship before the 7/3 release of the U.S. set, If so which set do you need for a First Day of Issue label for the ASE?

This one is done. The pre-order went unavailable same day they went on sale. (The RCM site isn't as forthcoming with that info as is the US Mint's site.)
I do believe they shipped some to their "official" dealer network (link here), but I'm not familiar with how RCM allocates inventory, nor their policies. (For instance, I don't know how many got shipped to dealers, nor if their dealer network has to sell at retail or if they can raise the price, etc.)
I checked a couple of those sites after it became unavailable from RCM, and they still seemed to have a few, but that was a couple of days ago. Just keep in mind the original price was around $190CDN, or about $145USD.
(I am assuming the CDN set will be desirable for the eventual label. That's probably what I'm going to do with mine. Check with your TPG to see if the box has to remain sealed for the pedigree.)
(I am assuming the CDN set will be desirable for the eventual label
That was my thought. With only 10k minted the Canada origin label will be the least available. I ended up with 4 sets. I looked at the Gatewest site (when they were available) but something just held me back. Now I've heard quite a few orders that were placed have been cancelled.
There are still three available from Italy priced in Euro (149.95/$170 USD) + shipping ...but passed on those also (Powercoin)
Gatewest goofed big time
Taking orders when they were available, reducing quantities over a day or so—then coming back and saying “sorry, sold out” your money to be refunding
Something smells rotten
I’ll never give those guys a dime of my business again and hope that everyone that had a good order and subsequently was cancelled should boycott their site
Why do you think that both the USA and Canada sets were NOT offered for sale on the same day? Wouldn't that make sense? They ARE the same sets after all.....

RCM has a policy of having pre-sales. The US Mint has a strict policy against pre-sales, they wait until the coin is released before offering it for sale.
It's really about the release date. The coins themselves will not be available until after Jul 3 from both Mints, that's even stated in RCM's press release.
I have a delivery date of July 19. we'll see if that's optimistic or pessimistic. That will be about a week after getting the US Set (assuming smartpost and the holiday...) That's still give me about 2 weeks to get it to a TPG in the same order...

I might be interested if there was a Trump-Trudeau kiss-pic included, like the Brezhnev-Honecker kiss-pic on the Berlin Wall.
What exactly does it mean to have a "MODIFIED proof finish"?

Lots of contributors, no need to be a homer.

That explains it. There will be some sitting on Canada post shelves in the back room years from now.
Quick note.
ATS is offering country/set pedigree if the set is received in a sealed mint box. These will be listed in the census as separate coins.
Do a search on it. It's easy to find. I'll probably pick up a US set, and send it in with my CDN set.
