edited to add... I'll guess they'd 65 it. I totally understand your flip/plastic dilemma though.

This is a 66. Derryb's looks nicer, in my opinion.
For a ratty looking 64. All due respect to our hosts, a very savvy marketing move. Without the “first week” concept, would anyone be sending in standard circulation strikes for grading?
These will be selling shortly, for less than the grading fees.

Who is the profiteer/promoter behind all this?
PCGS helped tremendously with their bounties on getting the coins graded.
Now think if that 64 sells for moon money ($250 for that coin is moon money), think of how many people will be submitting every coin they can get their hands on for each of the new designs.

Agreed. I have said many times I am not accurate at grading ATB quarters. From my viewpoint as a Morgan collector that 1 of 2 discovery that is MS66 is a MS64. And that MS64 is a MS62. That's why I sent all of mine in for grading. I feel like the top 2 pop grades (most likely MS66 and maybe 1 to 2 MS67 that get through) will be the only ones that hold value.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

A bit OT, but I found a cool hoard at a small community bank in burbs of Nashville TN while hunting for Marianas West Points yesterday.
Modern equivalent of chop marks. Lol
The entire box is nothing but rolls of BU State quarters.
I guess every so often during inventory of the vault someone has to make sure the box is still $500.
Newest rolls found looking at ends, everything is early 2000's.
I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet.... prob park it in my safe.
Some rolls are toning nicely on the ends.

Probably find one when we least expect it. Maybe when cleaning the inside of the truck and ...bang... a W cent amongst all the accumulated winter junk under the driver/passenger seats.
I see they have returned to spaghetti hair designs on that Marianas reverse.

Update from San Antonio. Just went to pick up some breakfast supplies from HEB. You guys from Texas know what I am talking about. Asked the girl at the cash register if I could have a roll of quarters. She said they come from a company that rolls the coins, not directly from the bank. Took one anyways. Was going to put the coins in plastic eggs for Easter. This is one is not going into any egg!!! Found it with 4 Marianna Island Quarters mixed in, all with D mintmark. The W’s are definitely out there. This is a Lowell.

There were over 20 rolls of Lowell Park W quarters sold Friday that will be appearing as singles on ebay this week. The bottom is about to fall out of sales when that happens. I sold 115 W's this week at reasonable prices so people that could not afford much came up with a coin. I also kept my best 5 to send in to our host for grading this week as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Thats sounds reasonable @pitboss you provided something that others want and made them happy and made a nice profit and made yourself happy.
As the supply meets up with demand for these Ws then balance will be achieved. Of course, there will be outliers like the first discoveries and top-pop (if any of these circ Ws were able to avoid their “brothers” during bagging, rolling, and the many hands.
As for sending them in I recommend calling CS. Good luck on the grades.

I agree. This trueview helps hides the white splotches the coin has.
If you don’t wanna send them in, sell to me and I will.
Derryb, I think yours has the nicest surfaces I have seen on any of these coins thus far (via the online pictures of course).
Guessing these will be hitting ebay very soon.
Why are people paying so much money for these?

does the mint have back-doors where employees go for smokes?
If they are unionized Fed employees... probably.
It seems like they all have a secure insert so far. Is that included with the pedigree, or did everyone happen to want pictures of their coins?
A 65 has been listed at $650. Again, wow...
Thanks!

64/65 appears to be the peak of the bell curve. I do wonder if anyone is submitting the Ws with the minimum grade stipulation.
The first 66 went for $1k last night.
Not bad. 0.01 FV turns into 100,000% profit. Did not include slab fees, shipping, Bay fees, breathing fees, etc.
Still a nice profit off a C-E-N-T. Pay your taxes.
