2019 NFL Free Agency/Trades Thread

Looks like Philly is trading DE Michael Bennett & a 2020 7th round pick to NE for a 2020 5th round pick. There's also a chance his brother TE Martellus Bennett might be willing to come out of retirement to sign with NE as well.

  • Will Joe Flacco be a starter for the Denver Broncos?

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 3,200 ✭✭✭✭

Most likely. There's a report that Keenum is getting dealt to the Redskins.

Browns looking like contenders next year, at least for the AFC North . Pick up Oliver and a round earlier draft pick. Expect them to go after at least a stud LB in free agency. Already signed Hunt if he's able to play.

Who will be the Ravens back up QB going into 2019?

  • DarinDarin Posts: 3,241 ✭✭✭

The Chiefs need to get Landon Collins.

Collecting: Patrick Mahomes rookie cards, the next great NFL quarterback.

To team with Berry or to replace?

Amendola released by Miami, maybe the Pats will bring him back. Belichik loves him

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 3,200 ✭✭✭✭

I'm all for Amendola & Martellus Bennett both coming back. Jamie Collins just got released as well.

I feel really good about the developments of the Patriots this off-season so far, other than the elephant in the room....

I think the Pats will put together a team good enough to be repeat SB winners.

Berry averages about 1 game per year so I would go with replace.

I’d love for them to give Collins another go. He led Cleveland in tackles so there is nothing questionable about his talent, he might be a handful though

Belichick's buddy Mike Lombardi ripped Collins thru the media after he got traded, now that Lombardi actually works for the Pats it would be interesting to see if they bring Collins back. I'd be on board with all 3 of those players I mentioned coming back.

Apparently Martellus is a big fan of talking about smoking blunts on social media, that might be an issue. 🤨

Hopefully Michael Bennett will take out his angry personality on opposing QB’s 😂

Let Joyner go, and they'll get a compensatory third rounder for him, and save at least 7M per with Weddle.

Amendola is heading to the Lions on a one year deal.

Trent Brown just became the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL History. Heading to Oakland on a 4yr deal at 16+M/yr.

Belichick traded a third round pick for Brown & a 5th rounder then will get back a 3rd comp pick for losing him. They got an elite season at left tackle, won a SB and received an extra 5th rounder all for his one season in NE.

Eagles signed Jags defensive tackle Malik Jackson to a 3yr deal.

Trey Flowers is probably next, all reports are he's gonna get a monster deal.

Trent Brown was elite, key protecting Brady’s blind side (very difficult to fill that void). Flowers was very good, but I would not call him elite (16-17 million/year is too much). Typical Patriots “non moves” so they don’t break the bank. Hopefully with a deep draft, plenty of picks, recovery from some injuries, we can RELOAD.

  • thisistheshowthisistheshow Posts: 906 ✭✭✭✭

    Trent Brown was really great.

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 3,200 ✭✭✭✭

It sucks seeing Flowers go but good for him he got paid. With Brown now Flowers both gone this means NE will be getting two 3rd comp picks in the 2020 draft. I doubt we see BB make any major signings in free agency,he's probably got a few more picks for players trades up his sleeve.

    Eric

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 18,052 ✭✭✭✭✭

Either way they definitely got their money’s worth with Brown and Flowers. I’m glad they got paid too, the served NE well

    Tevin Coleman to the ‘49’ers.

The Chiefs have released Berry, Houston, and Dee Ford. They have gotten a player who is
supposed to be a pretty good safety, now its time to improve the defense with more
    good young players.

The Pats had WRs Maurice Harris & Bruce Ellington, TE Matt LaCosse and former Chiefs DE Allen Bailey all in for workouts. They're also rumored to be in talks with Jared Cook & Golden Tate.

Antonio Brown to the Raiders, OBJ to the Browns and LeVeon Bell to the Jets.

There’s a whole lot of ‘be careful what you wish for’ going around with just those three players alone!

  • I hated to see C.J. Mosley leave the Ravens, and Suggs and Weddle too.

  • Earl Thomas and Mark Ingram to the Ravens. What do you think?

  • Tell me, will Joe Flacco be the starter in Denver this year?

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 3,200 ✭✭✭✭

I think the Earl Thomas signing was a great pickup for them, his injury happened early last season and he should be back close to full health by the time next season starts. As for Ingram,he should fit right in with their offense.Baltimore has done pretty well over the years plugging RBs into their system.
Mosley,Suggs & Weddle is a lot to lose for any defense let alone one of the better ones. I'd say the Ravens GM has his work cut out for him replacing Ozzie Newsome who was great at drafting defensive players over the years.

You already asked this question above, his only real competition would have been Case Keenum and he was traded to the Redskins. I doubt Denver would take on Flacco's salary just be to the backup.
